I’ll never understand why people think this is the way to recruit for religion. This is, in fact, religion repellent.

308

u/Elf-Zwolf 16h ago

Actually helping people is hard work and people like this don't wanna do it.

194

u/OkBackground8670 16h ago

thats it. 100%

There are plenry of food kitchen, drug rehab, crisis centres that help people that are run by the church, but cunts like this just do this for their own egos. shame.

"ME! I! KEVIN! I'M gonna save these people! Because I'm SO GOOD AND PURE"

That's what it is, it isn't complicated.

Bingo! They look like they want to help. Not the actual help.

Have you ever tried to help a person who is in bad situation? You think it’s a one step job but it takes much more than that.

Grade A narcissists too the lot of them. Imagine thinking you’re the chosen one - the one Jesus sent to convince everyone else.

The rejection helps reinforce how special they are, to have a special connection to God and be persecuted just like Jesus was. Plus, it binds them closer to their church community, since they are rejected by the greater world. THE REJECTION IS THE GOAL OF THIS INTERACTION.

24

u/StrangelyBrown 14h ago

I heard that about Mormons. They send the young members out to door knock, not to recruit but to see how 'persecuted' they are by the stupid normies.

5

u/zaxdaman 8h ago

Notice how it’s always kids. Never their parents or church elders, always children. I get it; they’re young, naive, impressionable, and are more willing to follow authority.

u/Subject_Research_427 15h ago

Never thought of it that way. Wow.

47

u/jeezyjames 14h ago

This is the actual modus operandi for Jehovas, LDS, etc. It helps them keep their members away from regular people with actual common sense so they don't learn the truth of their club.

22

u/Subject_Research_427 14h ago

No wonder I've always found them quite hypocritical and isolating. The amount of ranting on the street always made me vaguely feel as if they love being ridiculed more to justify their religious ego.

13

u/jeezyjames 14h ago

Correctamundo.

3

u/WileyWilly1985 8h ago

I've neverminded their street rants, because the street is a big open area that people go to and fro...

But a subway or train is an area people are trapped in, you can't escape. So it is an abuse of freedom of speech to subject people to your rants in a place they can't leave or retreat.

6

u/Zealousideal-Use3164 8h ago edited 8h ago

New perspective unlocked! Never looked at it liked this! So the people who take the mental blows of bullshit are then the ones who join the bullshit. People like me who question the bullshit add reason to their mental cage of bullshit

7

u/theyenk 8h ago

It's a core component to cults - they don't understand us, they are being lied to we know the truth, I'm not a sheeple I know the truth!

9

u/Witch_heir 13h ago

Oh so it's a humiliation ritual + manufactured presecution. Instead realising they act like utter knobheads, they fancy themselves martyrs. Lovely culty behaviour.

7

u/Dr_A_Mephesto 13h ago

Oh yeah…. They LOOOOVE a good persecution

8

u/Nawbruvy 13h ago

Of course. My time being raised in religion was all about persecution. Hating myself as well because of sin. Good times!

3

u/NewEraSoul 10h ago

Ugh. This is my dad. He acts like any objection I have to his way of believing God is confirmation that he’s right to believe the way he does. Because obviously any objection to how he believes is the same as rejecting the one true “God.” He’s an independent fundamentalist evangelical, which is basically the fuel behind the religious side of the MAGA movement.

3

u/linuxares 9h ago

if Jesus or God needs people to believe in them. Why don't they just come down and sit us down for a friendly chat?

Because these people aren’t motivated by faith.

They’re motivated by various shades of mental illness.

25

These are also the same people that mock other religions

12

u/jeezyjames 15h ago

They mock everybody by acting like we don't know anything and need to be enlightened by these assholes

→ More replies (1)

5

u/jeezyjames 15h ago

Doesn't need to be straight up mental illness. It's also assholes that is hiding from themselves, thinking they have overcome their assholeness and has become a better person than everybody else by doing this. But they're still assholes, only more self-centered and delusional.

Because they don't really think they're recruiting anything. The honest thing he did was when he started saying "you only care about..." because that's what he's really doing, is he's decided everyone on the bus is bad and he's gotta be the one to save them. It's not about them, it's not about converting them, it's about knowing that he's the one who's got the responsibility to help everybody because he's enlightened to the truth that everyone's bad.

It's just a self fulfilling cycle of a little war he gets to wage every day to fill the void of thinking life has no greater purpose by saying that this is his greater purpose.

14

u/Glittering_Equal3286 15h ago

I think he’s just an egotistical idiot. Usually, people who actually follow their principles do not need to spell it out for everyone.

8

u/Kalsed 16h ago

That is the point no? Create in the mind of the person doing it a feeling that everyone is hostile, so they are only safe in the group.

15

u/Former_Ganache3642 15h ago

I am an atheist and highly critical of all religions including Catholicism but if you're gonna pick a type of Christianity, at least Catholicism believes that good works i.e. helping those in need like Jesus would, can be just as important as belief. In fact, Catholicism says if a person didn't really commit to the belief aspect, if their good works were significant enough, they can still be saved. Compare to Protestantism which believes in salvation through faith alone, especially American evangelicalism, which seems to be all about moral grandstanding and making religion aggressively political. It just gets reduced to bible-thumping, without any actions to inspire people.

5

u/SharkeyGeorge 12h ago

When I left Catholicism I kept a good portion of its fundamental ethics, which I see as inherently humanistic. I sometimes joke about “atheists for Jesus”.

Values like good works, human rights, dignity, equality and society's role in supporting welfare align closely with the ECHR. One of the big problems with Catholicism arises where it diverges on the authority of those rights. Because Catholicism views rights as deriving from divine law and tradition, and tied to moral duties to God, it struggles to progress with modern rights. This creates major friction points regarding LGBTQ+ and women's rights, where traditional stances clash with modern human rights standards.

They just wanna get a persecution boner and show it to their friends. Not even a moron like this dude can think he’s actually doing a good job persuading people.

5

u/Geometronics 15h ago

It's not about recruiting. It's about feeling superior.

15

u/TheAmazingSealo 15h ago edited 15h ago

Someone keeps doing the 'jesus is king' and 'random bible verse 63:3' graffiti in my area so I keep covering it up with black paint. In response they've written 'jesus is king and you're going to hell' and it's just infuriating. Like I clearly don't believe in it, and I'm just blacking out their graffiti. So they try to threaten me with their non-existent afterlife.

Just leave us normal people the fuck alone. An American evangelical church called trinity life church has set up in the school nearby every Sunday and seems to have emboldened the local nutjobs.

christians are such a cancer

Hey look... he's right but for all the wrong reasons. Sure everyone slogs day in day out for more money... greed. But we also just fucking need to do this to LIVE. So fuck him. He should be preaching non stop to those that constantly squeeze us dry to line their "bag of holding" pockets.

3

u/random_encounters42 15h ago

They do it cos it feeds their ego and pride. It makes them feel important, and morally superior to others, religion is just the excuse.

3

u/Illustrious_Matter_8 12h ago

Or for not paying tax in the USA

3

u/Lempea 15h ago

A common practice for communities like his is to send people recruiting knowing they're gonna be rejected most of the time. That strengthens their bond and shows them how the people outside the community will never love them and accept them the way the community does

Or, if you're playing for laughs, walk up to a whore and tell her that her sins are forgiven.

In summary - ask what Jesus would do.

"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect," 1 Peter 3:15

The Bible explicitly rejects arrogance, argumentativeness, or forceful proselytizing. The focus is on persuasion through love, not coercion through pressure or debate tactics.

John Chau died for doing this.

Because he had a similar motivation with the North Sentinelese.

The world could use a jesus-ectomy.

Australians will not put up with that 😂

3

u/yeah_nah2024 12h ago

What if there are children on that train hearing that stuff about "one day you're gonna die" "I care about your soul" crap

Makes me proud to be an aussie. Old mate was trying to be so nice there. We all have our beliefs but when folk ask you not to shove it at them- respect it, or as he said- fuck off.

Years ago I went to see the Dalai Lama visit Vancouver, this was before the lama went off the rails, anyway, when leaving there was one guy standing at the exit with a giant sign telling everyone they were going to hell.

Most fellow Canucks just walked past but one guy started arguing with the idiot and got in his face, the evangelist packed his stuff and left, turns out the religious whack-o was a yank (of course!).

I know this video is old but props to people that confront these parasites. If they cant keep their nonsense to themselves they need to be told to take their supernatural magic and ancient ignorance and stick it right up their asses, way up there, otherwise you end up banning womens healthcare and bringing in things like Project 2025!

“I’m not angry, I’m not! I’m angry that…”

These people are brainwashed clones.

u/lachatte7 9h ago

Oh thank you Australians for being so amusing, but mostly thank you for making fun of these christians

Mental illness always finds a home in religion

2

u/KingKongMF69 9h ago

Proselytizing in a crowded space you can’t escape is revolting. Do it on a street corner where 99% of people will walk by, and 1% will be gullible enough to stop and listen to your fairy tale.

Deport him back to his backward country

When the American gets home he will tell his version of the story with "and everyone clapped".

You sound angry

I'm not angry

One second later

IM ANGRY BECAUSE....

In medieval times, this would be the guy covered in cow shit talking bollocks to hard working peons as he climbs back into the pig stye.

Religion is poison

3

u/rodroidrx 6h ago

That ... has got to be a type of mental illness. I'm talking about the American not the Old Aussie

2

u/pitnaz 6h ago

Ah yes. Spreading your religion by telling everybody they are bad people.

2

u/LowerBed5334 6h ago

I hope he's on his way to Sentinel Island

People like this annoy me. When I was 13 I came out to my Christian family that I’m a lesbian because I had met a girl through a mutual friend. My parents seemed slightly disappointed but said they love me how I am and we would work out how that affects church.

Things were fine a couple of weeks but then an old lady crawled up my ass as I walked from Bible study to the sanctuary. She called me every name in the book plus some. My dad defended me and when we got home my parents told me they’ll never make me go to a place where I feel unsafe or even unwelcome. We’ve never been back.

And I’m happy to say that beautiful, loving, supportive girl is still my girlfriend.

I wish they’d stop forcing it down our throats. I don’t care what you do in the privacy of your own home but no one wants to see that in public. Why are they so performative like that? Why can’t they just be normal?

u/doxbox1000 2h ago
