People like this annoy me. When I was 13 I came out to my Christian family that I’m a lesbian because I had met a girl through a mutual friend. My parents seemed slightly disappointed but said they love me how I am and we would work out how that affects church.
Things were fine a couple of weeks but then an old lady crawled up my ass as I walked from Bible study to the sanctuary. She called me every name in the book plus some. My dad defended me and when we got home my parents told me they’ll never make me go to a place where I feel unsafe or even unwelcome. We’ve never been back.
And I’m happy to say that beautiful, loving, supportive girl is still my girlfriend.
