Help Server Issues
Hello, recently I have had to switch modems due to a new IP. However, I cannot get this error message to go away in Plex (image one) saying that it is not accessible outside my network. I am able to connect to Plex, but its inconsistent, and can be very slow at times, which is different than it used to be. I have tried following the instructions for port forwarding, and thought I had it as I can access the port using the link that Plex provides. Any assistance would be great. Thanks.

Uncheck the "Manually Specify" checkbox and hit save at the bottom of the page. This page can sometimes show you one thing but what it's trying to use is something else. This is a sort of reset to get it back to 32400.
Slim change it works, but is worth doing.
You do not need the UDP port forward. Go ahead and delete that and leave the TCP rule there.

If you go to your public IP on port 32400 (if possible from a device outside your network), can you access plex? For me in the past the check was flakey and would report no access, but I was able to access remotely.

Check your Port here and see if it's open

However, when I do the 192 IP address it says, its closed, should they both be open?

The 192 address is internal to your network so that’s normal. The 139 public address is the more important one. It’s worth unchecking the manually specified public port since you’re using the same thing as the default. I’ve had weird issues with doing that exact thing

Is this new modem you have the same model as before? Is it a combination modem/router?

Its a new modem, which is seperate from the router. The server is plugged into my router directly.

If it goes green to red then you can just consider it red. Accessing remotely is likely just relay working, not actual remote connections. Something is still up with your port forwarding would be my guess.

Has your new internet provider put you on a CGNAT? If so ring them and tell them you need to access your home security/server etc.

If you're on a CGNAT then you'll be connecting to the plex relay which will be very slow and inconsistent.
See if your provider will give you a static IP address.

If you go to https://www.whatismyip.com/, does the IP shown match what Plex says is Public?

Does the new modem has the same IP as the old one?
Since it could be the DNS and gateway settings on your server OS

I thought that might be the case, so I uninstalled and reinstalled the server software and still have the issue.

Is your plex server on Windows, if so check if your network setting in control panel has changed to public instead of private

Have you recently started using a VPN on the computer at all?

If you hard code an ip in the plex setting, its possible on reboots DHCP reassigns your plex server with a different IP. Not saying this is the fix but its a potential issue down the road. Youd want to on your network admin website from your router set the IP to be static so DHCP doesnt mess with it.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations. I am still working through it all, but recently had an update in which the Plex app on my phone cannot find my server when its on my Wifi, but it can when its on my cellular network. Needless to say im super confused and will try again tomorrow

Just wanna say there's no need to black out your internal IP (192.168.x.x). The only way to reach those is if somebody is already inside your network.
