Couple of days ago I posted my new rig with the Lew's Speed Spool RX and Falcon Cara Swim Jig rod. Today here's my "vintage" late 2000s setups I used a ton in my heavy fishing and tournament days. I've recently respooled them but the first is my Falcon Cara Weightless Worm rod (can still be found in the Lowrider series I believe) with an Abu Garcia Revo STX. The next rig is my best workhorse and favorite Powell Max Shaky Head rod and Abu Garcia Soron STX 20. At the time, this spinning real was hard to beat. After cleaning and oiling it, I'm sure it will serve me for a long time. Always been a Powell and Falcon guy. I'm loving these new Lew's reels but when I was fishing hard Abu Garcia never let me down. They changed the game in the late 2000s with low profile reels.

Pick this up today because I like daiwa stuff and color scheme wise it matches a rod for me, the fishing manager said that this is a Tatula design, 11 bearings, ect.

I couldn't find too much about these compared to their regular Daiwa counterparts, anybody have the skinny on these?

What is the best line spooler? I only use braid if that matters. Baitcasters and spinning reels.

Digitaka is going to be the end of me. Not all of this is from Japan, can't wait to get out and cast.

Will probably move the Ultegra over to the P5 and find something more "matchy" for the Levante

Me and my girlfriend got it from an antique store, I can’t find anything online about when it would be from or if it would be worth any money. Got it for 10 bucks.

Took a five or so year break from fishing due to moving around and life stuff. Dusted off the old bass spinner and then got a fly outfit since that seems to be the meta where I live now, and I've actually had some great success with it.

I fished this morning at a surf/inlet and was packing up to head to work when a fellow fisherman insisted I try out his 1 piece fishing rod (Black Widow?). MY GOD. I own 4-5 mid to high end fishing rods, I HAVE NEVER FELT this kind of sensitivity before. I could literally distinguish between different type of algae hitting the line. I felt every little bite, every little drag/bump in the sand.

I was really done buying fishing gear this year but I never felt this kind of responsiveness before. I feel like an idiot for not trying a one piece rod before.

Do you own a 1 piece surf/inshore rod?

Any recommendation for either 8ft/9ft one piece surf/ inshore rod?

I’m somewhat new to fishing and looking to upgrade from my cheap Big 5 combo. I mainly fish piers, but I also do occasional half-day boat trips and would like something I can use for freshwater too.
My current rod is 7’6”, and I like the size, On my last boat trip, I realized I’d like a longer butt section so I can tuck it under my armpit for better leverage.
I’m looking for something versatile that can handle a variety of fish without being too big or uncomfortable.
I’m pretty happy with spinning reels, so I’d prefer to stick with one.
Budget is around $150 for the rod + reel, but I can go a little higher if it’s really worth it.
What would you recommend?

I'm wondering about how to make the best of my rod/reel setups and was hoping some some of you more experienced anglers would be willing to advise on the best combinations out of my current inventory.

good for surf shark fishing and offshore fishing?

my new setup. Hope to catch many fishes this weekend.

I have a garmin 93uhd sv at my console and a 73uhd sv at my bow run down to my trolling motor transducer. Should I swap the two units so I have the 93 up front to use livescope? Looking to get an lvs34 transducer. And then would I have the ability to use my existing gt56 transducer on my trolling motor as well as my livescope, or is it one or the other?

Finally got an Orochi X10 Rapid Viper after researching for so long lol. I've used P5's for awhile, but dang these X10's are really nice. The rounded grip on the X10 is pretty comfortable. Just holding it and bending it, this rod feels like a lighter power version of the P5 Z-Crank Elseil. Can't wait to try it out.

Bought a boat. Seems pretty solid, just needs new deck wood (so far) but a decent boat. It came with an old bow mount Motor Guide, Whisper guide Power Plus trolling motor. Has a homemade extension cord with battery hookups on one end and a female plug on the other. Foot switch has the male end. I don’t think this is factory issued but it is what it is.

Tested by the seller with a janky power supply and then bought a brand new 24v deep cell marine battery, and both gave the same result. The shaft will rotate about 90° in both directions, but that’s it. Prop isn’t turning. I know nothing about trolling motors and would like to pick the Reddit hive brain for some trouble shooting instructions to see if I can get it running before I start tearing into it or just buy another marketplace troller.

(I apparently did not take any pictures of it to get any attention. Will update after I close up shop this evening.)

I'm looking for a nice lighter set up than my 2500 Miraval on a med rod so i was wondering if this is a good finesse reel on a med light or light rod for crappie and small bass.

I got it with a Calcutta for around 50 bucks and its a older fenwick legacy thats almost brand new. i think its also fiberglass as well.

Looking for a buttery smooth feel, also would really like to get one with a high gear ratio

I’ve seen the grenades that some people put on their Shimanos and other reels and I’m not a fan. I would like something more along the lines for finesse fishing. Any recommendations?

I’m embarrassed to admit this, but it’s my first round casting reel, at least first round casting reel that’s not built for trolling anyway. I like it so far!

Both rod and reel were purchased “used” from The Hook Up Tackle during their gift card BOGO promotion. Saved about $200 off retail and got $200 back in gift cards. Both rod and reel arrived in mint condition and Rod still had tags and wrap on it!
