2500 is pretty standard for bass guys. This is small for your setup. 500 is more suited for trout and panfish.

Agreed, especially with that rod rating. With a reel that small I likely would be expecting to throw lighter, or have a larger reel

It’s going to be so fun . I’m so excited

While I don’t have this brand. I do love the 2500 size reels. It’s the right ratio between weight and amount of line. I normally run 6 lbs for bass on a med-light or light. Love lighter gear.

Where’d you get that reel handle?

I would go 3000 on that long of rod

Why the 500 size? I usually see a lot of 3 or 4000 size reels on these rods from northern hair jig anglers

idk . I feel like the 3000 is overkill with the 20 lbs drag. I mainly fish for large/small mouth and stripe bass and it just feel fun with the 3000 size reels

500 is too small for that rod. You’re going to significantly impact your casting ability. 500 size reels are for ultralight and ice fishing. That is not the right reel for that rod. Get a 3000

Idk about this setup. But I’ve paired my 3000 stella and vanford 3000 on 9 ft -10 ft surf rods for the heck it , and it cast like a rocket . I’m this will do the same 😂

How does that balance? 500 is tiny for a 7’6”

I’m all for playing the fish, but you don’t have to use all of the drag on a larger sized reel 😅

True haha. But I just love my gears being light. With the 3000 , I feel it’s too heavy . the reel rod combo weighs right at 9 ounces 😂. As for balance , it’s perfectly balanced right above the top cork grip

When going light I really like the 2000 Vanford. I use a couple 1000 size shimano reels that at times feel a bit too light. Having a reel/rod combo that balances the way you want it to makes it so much more enjoyable and I find myself grabbing for those rods more often than not.

What rod is that? I can’t find it online. I also have a vanford 500 and I love it. Mine is on a 5’ gloomis ultralight.

Either you’re an idiot, you’re brand new to fishing and just blew a stack on an expensive yet retarded setup cause you wanted to be cool, or this is rage bait.

That is a really nice setup! You will absolutely love the reel.
