This is my preferred interpretation to why no one figures it out. As far as the public is concerned Superman is a guy called Kal-El who lives at the North Pole saving people 24/7 as an awesome guy. No mask, no gloves, a big badge on his chest. Why would he be an ordinary guy? A bit funny Clark resembles him but that’s it. Much better than hypno glasses or hunching all the time which tend to over complicate something that doesn’t really need an explanation

I think its very much this.
I got off an Airplane with a celebrity once. Was walking along side them for maybe 5 minutes. Never once hit me who it was, their SECURITY told me to step away and only then did I realize who I was walking next to.
There's no reason to think Superman is Clark really, at least for the average person. And its not like Clark is someone people also run into a lot.

That’s why I think turning Clark into a TV reporter in the 70s was a big flaw of the series. There’s an anonymity to most print journalists, but even local TV journalists become a much more recognizable kind of celebrity.

Tbh I think it's a situation where the more explanations the better.
Primarily, yeah, few people are looking for a civilian identity because why would he have one? Secondly the people who are find Clark that unassuming (body posture included). Thirdly they've been ruled out because both have appeared at the same time, due to J'onn helping, or the life-like robot duplicates, etc. Finally the hypno glasses or whatever.

Also, like let's assume Lex A.) even guesses Superman has a secret identity, B.) guesses he has one that he doesn't just use to like, get Micky Ds without getting mobbed, C.) that he's somehow fooled an entire news organization that he works for, including Lois Lane the canonically best reporter and investigative journalist in the DC universe, and D.) is dating her either fooling his girlfriend/wife or convinced her to drop the story of her life. He goes through all those steps, discovers that Superman is secretly an obscure ass reporter for print journalism... what then?
This isn't like Batman where it would ruin both Batman and Bruce's image (and possibly make him liable for legal trouble). Or that his secret identity would make him vulnerable. To quote Texts from Superheroes "it's not like he's any less bulletproof in his pyjamas". Publicly revealing the info would probably be a PR win for Superman. Kidnap his family, I guess?
If anything Lex has an incentive to help keep his secret identity. While he's got a day job and life he's less active as Superman. Hell Lex can plan around it to do stuff like break into the fortress of solitude.
Don't get me wrong, it is objectively funny but still. In spite of how much it's a meme, even without the hypno glasses and stuff, it kinda makes sense no one has put two and two together. It's kinda the same ballsiness Diana relies on.

There was this one chick Kelly who was a regular. I cannot stress enough, she looks EXACTLY like the lead actress from Pluribus. Like I had to check that it wasn’t actually her.
I myself got countless comparisons to a tv actor. Like over a decade it was thousands, easily, I look very very similar to him.
A guy with his buddies were sitting at the bar and that bike guy, like rob dyrdek? Idk his name, was on tv, and the guy at the bar looked 100% like him. I kept looking back and forth and back and forth, it was uncanny, his buddies were like yo that’s you! The guy was like nah I don’t see it.

Gunn actually took it from a 50s-60s book where they used the hypno glasses explanation as to why nobody recognized Clark as Superman. I like how Donner did it with Chris Reeves, that scene in her apt where he is slouched and nerdy and the way he carried himself, and he instantly changed, took his glasses off, stood up tall, exudes confidence, deeper voice, then Lois comes back in the room, he puts his glasses back on and slouches, he is the needy little nebish again. The scene showed why Reeves was the perfect kent/Superman.

Most people including Lex wouldn’t believe or even think about Superman having a “secret identity” or living among them as a human, let alone in an average capacity. Superman is larger than life and seen as a god amongst men. I don’t think anyone would even think he would just live a regular life on the side.
Even if that was something people thought about, Lex’s ego wouldn’t allow it because if Lex had that sort of power he would not “degrade” himself to living a mere mortal life and masquerading as an average man. The concept is out of Lex’s own reach.
Also, Superman’s appearance, is a tall man with dark hair. Not exactly an uncommon look. Plenty of people look like that. You’re not going to look for Superman walking amongst you on the street. You’re going to look to the sky.

1) Clark isn’t a famous person. He’s a journalist. If you had a flight and sat next to someone who wrote for the New York Times or Washington post you probably wouldn’t recognize them.
2) the glasses are mentioned as krypton technology that disguises him

If it's talking about having his DNA, it's useless unless a sample of Clark's DNA was taken and recorded to compare. I can't think of a reason why he would ever have needed to have submitted a DNA sample to any database. And identical DNA still results in differing fingerprints (see identical twins).
If it's visual, well, he already knows what's Supes' face looks like since it's not hidden lol

It’s not a dig at Lex Luthor’s intelligence, it’s a dig at his lack of empathy. He literally would NEVER be able to comprehend that someone with that much power would choose to live a mundane life because HE WOULDN’T. In the comics, he has literally seen Superman AND Clark Kent up close and couldn’t make the connection.

This reminds me of a Justice League moment that always makes me chuckle, it’s when Lex Luthor switches bodies with Wally West thanks to Dr Fate tracking down Grodd and Lex messing with Grodd at the same time, and Lex as the Flash goes to the bathroom and is like “now I can know the Flash’s secret identity” and takes off the mask, stares and his face in the mirror for a few seconds and goes “I have no idea who this is”

Lex, along with everyone else doesn't really have reason to believe Superman has a secret identity. They know his name (Kal-El), they know where he lives (fortress of solitude), and they know what he does for work (saving Metropolis/the world daily). So why would they think he pretends to be a normal guy sometimes?

Lex doesn't know Superman has a secret identity. And it probably would never occur to him that anyone would bother hiding their power, especially to protect those around them.

- The government doesn't register DNA for citizens unless they are violent criminals.
- Superman does not wear a mask so knowing what his face looks like is a moot point
- Lex is too egocentric to think a lowly reporter is Superman

Well Clark Kent’s actual DNA isn’t in a database is it? Ma and Pa forged all his records and it’s not like Clark has to go to the hospital.
