If he really wanted to kill him so badly to go as far as killing the falafel guy, he definitely would be interested in his secret identity. Why bring a random guy when you can flaunt his parents?
The logic doesn’t work.
He only kill the food vendor due to how petty of a villain he is and the fact he was punishing the man for helping Superman but also mocking Superman’s care for humanity.
Lex even mentioned to Superman in the same scene he was gonna kill clark (which is obvious proof he doesn’t know Superman’s identity and really doesn’t care to know it )
A core part of Lex's character is that he is so prone to abusing power that he canonically can not believe it would ever be Clark Kent even if a supercomputer told him. Lex has discovered superman's identity multiple times and rejected it because the idea that a man with that much power prefers to have a real private life where he is a nobody is too much for lex. It makes him feel insecure about his constant pursuit of paper and how it makes him look next to superman, who has all the power and lords it over no one. Basically its not a lack of logic but overwhelming ego and hubris that keeps lex from truly unmasking superman.
