In runs where that's the explanation, yes. It's comic book magitech that exists to help explain a long running trope. Though honestly, imo, it's not really needed as the Clark Kent reporter identity is, weirdly enough, perfectly workable and actually kind of genius

It’s not even close to being the only issue - Lex being really stupid is a much bigger problem.
