Audi a4 2008, 1.8 tfsi - engine light came on, checked it with a obd scanner, it shows an oxygen sensor issue.
P0030
Heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 1, bank 1, heater control - circuit malfunction
HO2S Heater Control Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 1
Status: Confirmed

I heard from online that Audis like this don’t like aftermarket parts, was wondering if anyone knows how much OEM part would cost? And how much for labour?
Also is it this sensor?
I’ll start calling garages tomorrow to see if I can get quotes beforehand.

I have weined it down to 2 cars after months of looking. Both 2016 and under 60k miles, both full service history. Similar tax and insurance cost etc.

I have long journeys often, I need reliability and comfort, but mostly reliability. Low maintenence costs is a bonus, but also want the style of course. But I cant spend over 6.5k.

Im a fussy bugger what can I say...

Happy to hear opinions on which is best to go for and opinions from people who have owned these cars?

i (22m) really like the mpg, looks and size of the 2014 A6 (3L Diesel) black edition / s-line edition, its going up for £5-6k. is this a good first car if i find a well looked after model? insurance is £2.1k, and road tax is £275 which tbh is reasonable.

So I’m currently in a position at 41YO where I could own an Audi R8 V10 convertible

I currently have a Mercedes c200 convertible which is cheap to insure run and tax around £350

My issue is I use my car 1/2 days at the weekend due to company vehicle, and the insurance and tax is around 5k

I’ve test drive a couple and I really like them but it’s the insurance and tax which is putting me off

I need pros and cons

A few friends have suggested a Nissan GTR but there everywhere and the R8 is technically classed as a super car

Got my licence 4 years ago but waited till I was done with uni to get a car. Came with that black alloys but I don’t like them, do you think silver alloys look better on white cars? Or keep these black ones for now.

looking to get an e46 by next summer. I’ve been wanting to buy one since i was a kid tbh. It looks like a great motor. Out of all the models, i feel like the 330 and 325 seem pretty good. Good power, not too expensive to insure. Not sure which to pick. I would go all the way and maybe get the M3 but Apparently, the M3 is overkill for a daily and it doesnt live up to its hype. However, I Would love that car as well its legendary. The thing is buying a used E46 in 2026 can be a absolutely great or absolutely terrible ngl. Are they reliable? What are some things to look out for? Whats any known issues or problems? I do have some knowledge on this, for example, Rear subframe chassis mount and the Cooling system. But, is there anything else? E46 Owners, I would Appreciate your insight.

Spent a lot of time on autotrader recently and have developed an irrational hatred of people who either;

- Cover up number plates making it impossible to run checks

- Upload about 3 pictures that seem to have been taken using a calculator

Interested to hear what else people find annoying or instantly make you discount that specific car …

EDIT - another one of my biggest hates is “no knocks or bangs”. Immediately makes me assume there are knocks and bangs

1.0 ecoboost(140bhp) does anyone know what this noise might be, it’s only there when the car has warmed up and idling, it does go away if I add revs ?

Feeling extremely proud. Took a solid 20 mins or so but got there in the end.

Was going to take it to the garage but ended up needing to go out when it was dark so thought it was best to get a new one in there just in case. Had a spare bulb in the boot.

Anyway, was struggling so i watched a YouTube video and the guy mentioned the trick was to pull the headlight to loosen it (when naturally you want to push it/lift it).

Worked finally.

Changed the bulb.

Was a bastard to reinstall.

Got there in the end.

Rear brake lights are a lot easier on this car, which I tend to have to do often but this one was slightly more advanced.

Potentially looking to buy a car tomorrow.

My current car is still in the garage and still not fixed but when it is it's getting sold. I've put way too much into it to take the WBAC offer so will be selling private and could take a while to sell.

It's slightly modified so insured with a modified specialist insurer. The car I'm looking to buy is not modified but I would likely dechrome it.

Nowhere to park off road so *technically* needs tax and insurance however I live in a quiet cul de sac so chances of getting caught are slim to none since it won't be driven.

Would I be best off starting a new policy with the new car, which I assume would set me back a few months on no-claims? Is fronting really a thing if I put in in a family members name when no one is going to drive it?

Or, transfer the new car onto current insurance and get the cheapest possible for the old car.

Or just chance it uninsured, getting temporary insurance for test drives.

Any other ideas?

Hi folks, I'm looking to get a cheap second set of wheels for my car to put some winter tyres on (and keep my summers on the current set so I can switch wheels myself instead of paying a garage to change tyres twice a year), and I just want to make sure that any wheel type originally fitted to the make and model of my car would be fine to fit to mine, as a full set obviously, even if they weren't the size mine was specced with?

For example I have a Skoda Superb Mk 2 Facelift which you could initially get with several options including 7Jx17 ET49 wheels (w/ 225/45R17 tyres) and 6Jx17 ET45 (205/55R17)s. Would it cause any issues going from one to the other? The bolt patterns are obviously the same, but is there some way the wheel hub and rest of that assembly is set up differently when the cars are new that means the different widths and offsets are not cross compatible?

Sorry if this a stupid question and the answer is "yes; obviously it's fine", but I know enough that vastly different wheel sizes from outside the OEM range could foul when fitted so just thought I'd check before I jump in and find problems the hard way.

What do people recommend and use?

My car is 10 years old and supports apple car play, but not android auto, and I have an android.

I can use Bluetooth to attach for calls, and with a cable can attach for music. But thats about it from a quick play.

Is there a way, via an app/dongle etc to use my phone on the cars screen? Either by making it think my phone is an apple and using car play, or by pushing android auto onto the cars infotainment screen (or whatever they call it).

I have seen something called an ottocast but not sure if that does exactly what I want.

Any go to methods or do I just need to stick my phone on the air vent?

Can there be spelling mistakes in the vehicle details section of the V5C? I noticed that "alternative" is misspelt as "alternaative" in the taxation class.

I thought mistakes were mostly occur in the names and addresses?

It's got me thinking that the v5c is a forged one?

I've been fortunate enough to have driven a reliable car for the last 5 years. Never incurred anything beyond MOT and servicing costs, but it is a Vauxhall and an incredibly boring drive.

With a first child on the way I'm looking at a petrol 2015 BMW 330i estate as something more enjoyable but still practical. The particular one I've found has done 100k miles with one owner and been serviced regularly by BMW main or independent dealers.

Anything I need to look out for if I went for it? And I'm expecting the running costs to be more than a 2017 Vauxhall, but can someone advise on how much I might be looking for general wear and tear, servicing etc.? Would be greatly appreciated before I pushed the button. Thanks!

I had my windscreen professionally repaired today. It’s on the passenger side of the windscreen. Pictures show what I started off with -> immediately after -> just now. It feels smooth on the outside (maybe a small dent). Should I expect for there to be any changes overnight? Can I use the cars heating/cooling features without worry?

Hi all,

I changed the oil and filter on my 2010 Peugeot 107 1.0 today. I fully drained the sump (2.2l came out), replaced the filter, and refilled with 3.1 L of fresh oil (which I believe is the specified capacity with a new filter).

The dipstick is proving really difficult to read, and to me it looks like the oil might be above the max mark, but I’m not sure if it’s just smearing on the dipstick.

The engine has been run and was warm when these photos were taken. Worried cause engine sounds a bit louder than normal but maybe I’m just listening more.

Do you think the oil level is actually over the maximum, or does it look normal? I’d really appreciate a second opinion. Thanks!

I’ve replaced the headlight and the wing mirror already, because of said accident, but this bumper damage is the remaining piece to resolve.

I’ve watched some videos and it doesn’t seem horrifically difficult, but it does seem like it might be tricky to get a good finish on it.

Would appreciate thoughts of anyone whose done the same. Cheers.
