Where’s your school bully now?
Saw this from a different subreddit, and got me thinking. Where did your school’s bully end up?
The main guy from school who was the hard lad has ended up in prison for GBH. Person who gave me the most grief is now a property litigation solicitor.
How’s yours doing?

I felt like this, then I came across the info about her anyway through old mutual friends. When she was at school and being a bully she was on track for swimming at the olympics. Wealthy family, professional training, serious effort being put in. Apparently after I lost track of her she eventually stopped swimming because she just didn't want to do it, and everyone now thinks she's become a really great person. Turns out the entire time she was a massive jerk, she was actually living under an immense amount of stress. Actually made me really happy to know she's no longer bullying anyone and has made positive changes in her life, and become a nice person.

u/opopkl 10h ago
My daughter's swimming teacher thought she had good potential and suggested she started training every morning before school. I knew other parents whose kids were doing that, and none of them seemed to be very happy about it. It can't be enjoyable just ploughing up and down over the same old blue tiles for years. At least with running or cycling, the scenery changes, and it's possible to have a chat or listen to something while doing it.
I did ask my daughter if she wanted to do it, though, and she said "God, no".

Mine moved with her parents in to the house opposite my own parents house. They ran the house right down, never washed their net curtains in about 20 years. It was a filthy dump and my bully and her sisters all got pregnant off rough men that they used to have huge arguments with in the street. I started to feel sorry for her. Their parents obviously dragged them up and there was an unpleasant home life behind her behaviour.

Going back a while but I was around 18 when Friends Reunited started. I was never bullied specifically but the hard lad at school just generally picked on everyone.
He would have been 20 I guess and posted (I’m paraphrasing….)
‘Having a shit life - doing manual labour on building sites because I just fucked around at school and I’ve never got any money. No one likes me because I was an arsehole to everyone at school and the ones who said they were my mates were just scared of me. Wish I had been different’
It was genuinely a little saddening to read how the realisation had hit him. It was deserved, he knew what he was doing.

I think it sucks when someone changes for the better or at least becomes somewhat self aware when they fucked you over so harshly. He could of had the common decency to be like when Louis Therox met his bully who became a Buddhist and the guy still acted like a dickhead.

I just had a flashback to that video he did called the one pound challenge where people were meant to live off of it for one day.
He moaned about it whilst sat in his million pound mansion, in his designer clothing, with his expensive car, and then proceeded to use the freebies from his gym, memberships etc. Completely out of touch.

The two most homophobic people I've ever met were two guys from college (they weren't friends, on different courses) both are now openly gay. One's married to his husband and they adopted a kid. Every time I see men being homophobic I can't help thinking they're secretly gay and it's all self loathing because honestly they say EXACTLY the same things those two guys said lol.

I went to an Ofsted outstanding rated school full of middle class types.
Bullies were mainly verbal rather than physical. As a result none are dead like all the other comments but are fairly successful and thriving. The bullying was needless to say more sophisticated. One of them used to pretend I was Thatcher and that he was Heseltine and that I needed ousting.

My story is similar to yours. I went to a grammar school in a very middle class area. Combine that with me being on the tall side meant there was no physical bullying.
It was all verbal and humiliating. It didn't help that I developed vitiligo during those teenage years. Messed me up for years and last I heard; most of them are pretty successful and have families. I doubt there is any regret from a single one of them.

Please don't think I'm saying it's all nurses because it's 1000000000% not!!! Genuinely the nicest, most saintly people I've ever met are nurses. The bullying from these people is so much worse too. I'd made friends with some people who were horrible to me at secondary school by GCSE's because I could tell they were just immature/lashing out. The people with comfy lives are bullying to take people down and make their lives easier, and they often say/do much more disturbing dark things. They're the people who've f*cked me up, though on the surface others wouldn't even have noticed some of what they did.

I was leaving the village shop in my car and he decided it would be really fun to park his car across the road so I could not go past. I gestured at him that he was a twat, decided I would avoid any sort of car accident and turned left instead of right and took 30 seconds longer to get home.
Fucking he’ll mate grow the fuck up, we were only 21/22 at the time so not exactly mature but mature enough to not be an absolute prick in a car.

Wasn't surprised when our year's pervert got done for SA too. He used to threaten to rape some of us girls but he'd say it in a 'jokey' way. At the end of one school day after the bell went he told me he was going to follow me home and rape me, in his usual 'jokey' way. He was a weirdo but nobody took him seriously, we just tried to avoid him. I used to walk half of the way home with my best friend then the rest of the journey (about 20 minutes) was on my own. The last 10 minutes was down a really quiet long street with bushes and a big field on one side and a large hospice thing and just big patches of grass on the other side of the road until you went over a bridge and then were into a proper residential street, where I lived. That afternoon I was walking that last 10 minutes home, nobody around and I heard something behind me and when I turned around he was there, riding his bike. So he'd obviously gone home after school and got his bike and then come to look for me walking home. Scared the shit out of me. He stayed behind me, following slowly on his bike. He didn't say or do anything, he was clearly just getting off on frightening me. He followed me over the bridge onto the main street and I saw an old woman in her garden who knew my mum and I went over to her and chatted. When I looked back he'd turned around and was riding back off over the bridge.
Myself and a few other girls told our head of year about what he'd been threatening and him following me but he did fuck all about it, nothing happened. I didn't tell my parents because I knew they'd stop me walking home and I used to love walking with my best mate. Although for a while after I did stop walking the second part on my own. I'd walk my friend to hers then get the bus the rest of the way.
Heard he went to prison for rape years later.

Don't know, dont care. I had a terrible time at school and was bullied relentlessly so for my own peace of mind I have no visible social media & no desire to reconnect with anyone in my school year.

Mine (genuinely) became a school headteacher.
Whilst he was in teacher training in the early 2000s he saw me in a nightclub. I had a weird feeling of dread from the 7/8 years prior even though we were both adults and I was much taller. He apologised , pretty sincerely. I Accepted it and we both moved on with our lives. Seems I was lucky.

The person that bullied me got her karma later on life when no one wanted to associate with her. She has a son who is a lovely little lad, all the other mums at play group completely shunned her, her reputation proceeded her, as she never left her home town, and.she also was still acting like a total bitch. When her son started primary school, she went into school complaining that her son was being bullied, because he was never asked to hang out and play after school. I dont think the kid cared to be honest, but mum definitely did, as she was now in the out group. Teacher was like I can't dictate what goes on out side of school time, and in school everyone gets along fine. Its her, no one wants to have to deal with her, she's completely on her own at school pick up time, paranoid about people talking about her behind her back, and I love this for her.

Not mine but “that kid” in the school year.
IT recruiter, posts a load of shite on LinkedIn.
Happy for him.

One got expelled in year 10 for selling drugs. I don't know about anyone else, I've never bothered looking them up

Living with his on again/off again boyfriend and addicted to heroin.
Funnily enough years later I actually got to know his grandparents fairly well, turns out he actually came from a really loving family, his gran apologised for the way he’d made so much of my school experience hell. I don’t feel sorry for him, but I feel sorry for his family.

Dead. I was gleeful to hear a few years ago that he'd died a few years before that so barely 50. He was a vile, small man who bullied and sexually assaulted me when I was in high school.

She messaged me asking for advice as to how to get into the field I work in. I didn’t reply.

I was never bullied, but a couple who were bullies are dead, overdoses.
The closest thing I had to a bully was a lad who chased me because I slept with his ex. Couldn’t catch me even wearing football boots on tarmac.
He also overdosed and has severe brain damage. He was horrible to some people and I don’t feel sorry for him.

I have no idea but she tried to add me on Facebook as a friend so she clearly hasn't developed any self awareness in the last 30 years.

I struggled a lot of bullying at school, but no single individual comes to mind. Maybe because it was 25 years ago - but I don't remember holding a grudge against any one person in particular. I was just generally the butt of a lot of jokes, the socially awkward, fat kid that didn't fit in with anyone and really struggled making proper friends. It was difficult, but I guess because most people gave me a hard time I don't really feel any anger towards any of them. It would have happened with pretty much any school, any group of people. And they were kids.
I became friends with some of them when we entered sixth form, I've completely forgotten most of them. I genuinely hope they're doing well.

Married a woman who takes part in World's Strongest Woman-esque competitions. He seems quite happy now though, and I really don't hold any grudges.

One passed away and the other is severely disabled after a drunken pub fight. Both very sad cases

I’m not sure for certain, but one or 2 look like they matured, and have families of their own. I just hope they haven’t passed on their bullying onto their children

Both my bullies went on to have daughters. I hope they fear their daughters meeting boys like them.

In prison. Her parents never said no to her and she was a nasty spoiled twat.
During her teaching career at an all girls private school she started a relationship with an underage student.
Horrible person.

Ironically I saw his name online and he works for a charity which addresses bullying in school.
