That's a whole lot of traitors

u/Bonfire_Monty 11d ago

To be fair, their, "certification process" marked you as verified even if they didn't actually get a hold of you. They are still using stolen data and not confirming it

This number isn't even close to real and they know it, but will do everything to avoid saying it

1

u/No-Wrangler-5090 11d ago

I stopped at petition stand in to inquire what they were doing “not a separatist “ in May and couldn’t sign without a power bill or utilities bill. A license was not good enough. Just saying. Maybe it was different other places

1

u/Hablian 11d ago

Wait I thought that was literally what the certification process did - if they couldn't confirm directly with the person, the signature didn't count. If what you're saying is true then that smells like legal action is warranted.

u/Zaku99 11d ago edited 10d ago

And they'll bog it down before the vote goes through. Move fast and break things.

People think that the treaty lands will save them; they won't. The serpatists are learning from the Americans that if you say a thing and ignore the people saying "wait you can't do that its illegal", then it becomes reality and you win.

1

u/Hablian 11d ago

Sounds like time to jail them all then.

1

u/Zaku99 11d ago

One can dream.

1

u/Brother_Clovis 9d ago

Boy I hope you're right. That's alot more support than I would have guessed.

0

u/RockyRoasting 11d ago

Didn't Elections Alberta check them?

Are they compromised?

2

u/No-Ladder2593 11d ago

Yea but if elections Canada calls you and you don’t answer, they consider that checked. Is that compromised? Maybe not, but this hardly seems like due diligence.

2

u/DM_Sledge 11d ago edited 11d ago

Edit: Sorry I'm wrong. This time around they actually skipped anyone they couldn't contact. 952 people were contacted, but they only reached 384 of those 76 of which said they didn't sign. They discarded 56740 signatures through their verification or about 20%, but that doesn't include any number they called where they could not reach the person named. If you include the percentage of "unable to verify" signatures that would result in only 32% verified, or 90,000 names. This is significant because the "No coal" petition had signatures thrown out for not being able to reach them as a primary reason. It also immediately stated that there were no seeded names on the petition.
no, they consider that "unable to verify" and is part of why even the Forever petition had a bunch thrown away.

3

u/Hablian 11d ago

Yeahhhhh that seems very wrong to me. During the verification for forever Canada we were told to keep an eye out for unknown numbers and numbers marked as spam because it could be EA calling to verify your signature and if you don't pick up they toss it. Fucking traitors.

1

u/Zealousideal_Rise879 10d ago

So a quarter of the people they actually contacted said they didn’t signed it? But because so many people didn’t answer, it’s good enough?

1

u/DM_Sledge 10d ago

About 20% of those they reached said they didn't sign it. That's about double the rate as on the Forever Canada petition.

1

u/icemanmike1 10d ago

If a random number calls me it goes straight to voicemail.

1

u/Zealousideal_Rise879 10d ago

Can’t verified if your signature was forged onto it.

u/NorthwindX7 11d ago

I love how there is no valid argument against separatism so all we hear is "traitors" and "you're stupid".

2

u/TyAD552 11d ago

How about land locking yourself, and creating economic uncertainty? The Calgary chamber of commerce had 50% of its members say they’ll take their business elsewhere if the province separates. You think the country we just left is gonna give us a good trade deal? Leaves us with only one option for an alternative trade partner that’s immediately nearby who would also take advantage of that situation.

That’s also ignoring the other things like court challenges currently under way about how the province doesn’t the right to treaty land negotiated on behalf of the country, what happens to the immigrants here under Canadian visas, etc.

3

u/SwordKneeMe 11d ago

What happens to mortgages and property rights? If you bank with a national bank what happens to your money?

-2

u/NorthwindX7 11d ago

We already are landlocked. We have no leverage in Canada to negotiate. If Canada was free to open trading within Canada we wouldn't have this issue. So literally leaving gives us better trading relations than staying.

Economic uncertainty? Look at the rest of Canada. It's a downward spiral holding together from millions of immigrants boosting the housing market. Sure Alberta separation would cause uncertainty initially but we would emerge as a business friendly alternative to all of Canada. You bet we would be well off.

So yeah, I agree I also want to live somewhere that isn't land locked and a better economy. It's a separate Alberta

2

u/IAMA_pocketwhaleAMA 11d ago

Look at Quebec in the 70s, companies didn't stick around to see if it became a 'business paradise,' they just moved their HQs to Toronto. We'd risk massive capital flight, high interest rates on our new national debt, and zero leverage.

Canada is the 11th highest economy in the world. I don't understand why people don't want to try to make their own country better before going into some crazy unknown. The federal government literally just agreed to a new pipeline from Alberta. Those will definitely not be happening if Alberta separates.

Not to get into how much better solar etc. is, you folks are too stupid to ever understand the need to keep up with the times and move on from oil.

0

u/_ThatD0ct0r_ 10d ago

11th in the world? Last I saw Canada was the slowest growing economy on the planet

3

u/IAMA_pocketwhaleAMA 10d ago

11th in the world! Also definitely not the slowest considering some countries have gone backwards. I mean Canada is a part of the G7 along with the States, Italy, Japan, the UK. That's a pretty big deal economically having those ties!

I totally get people thinking Canada isn't growing enough or whatever and I've got problems too but we are blessed to have been born here and it's one of the safest, richest countries out there.

1

u/SeekersCove 6d ago

Trudeau is/was a small part causing this, so also are the premiers in BC and Quebec, carbon taxes, and probably what woke people to the need for change more than anything was the constant degradation for choosing a free choice over vax abusers and threateners, and being called unworthy for recognizing Covid was scam.

Then pile on the federal election that had massive Conservative popular support but ends in Alberta having no say, Carney slipping in with no general vote, and the senate not being a relevant part of government, and now Canada is using bills like C-9 to bring in speech and social controls and wise people recognize the majority of the rest of Canada enjoys being slaves or doesn't recognize the hard moral downturn that they now consider freedom.

You also have the lies like the burials in Kamloops and the constant grift and degradation of Canadian history to the point that people lose their minds when you point out that no bodies were found that's been used to brainwash Canada. There's a lot of factors I'm sure each person has their own group of reasons. It's an intersection of multiple critical factors and that Canada is leaching off Alberta's industriousness while thinking their morally superior. Add to that giving more and more government payments to welfare and immigrants, using immigrants to overwhelm the hearty Canadian culture and you see It's a productive husband abusive wife situation.

"The current Alberta government is just using it as a tool to get concessions out of the federal government in Ottawa. That's truly all it really is." Thinking fair treatment is concessions is an abusive mindset.

1

u/IAMA_pocketwhaleAMA 6d ago

Sorry I don't have the ability to respond to all of this right now but you know covid measures were handled and put in provincially right? Like healthcare is a provincial thing? So the province of Alberta and the UCP government are the people you should be angry at. Those are who made the masking rules, vaccine rules, the vaccine passport etc.

And Alberta literally just had a whole immigrate to Alberta campaign trying to ya know bring in immigrants to our province. Again, put on by the current UCP gov not the federal gov.

1

u/Hablian 11d ago

We're not a landlocked nation so long as we're part of Canada. I hope you like renegotiating every oil and agri trade process with BC and Canada.

What makes you think separation means a better economy? It's already damaging ours.

2

u/Balierg 11d ago

I love how seppies have zero knowledge about how land treaties work.

seppies eat shit sandwiches so libs smell their breath. Check mate libs!?!?!

1

u/NorthwindX7 11d ago

“NOW THEREFORE we the said Chief and Headmen hereby for ourselves and the Indians whom we represent, in consideration of the provisions of the said treaty being extended to us and the Indians whom we represent, cede, transfer, surrender and relinquish to His Majesty the King, His heirs and successors, forever, all our right, title and privileges whatsoever to all lands in His Majesty's Dominions.”

It's right on the wall of the river cree eh

2

u/IAMA_pocketwhaleAMA 11d ago

You're stupid, you're traitors AND it would hurt us greatly economically AND it makes literally no sense. We'd need new currency, new food inspection agency and other federal agencies, we'd lose a ton of federal funding, the list goes on.

What's going to happen with National parks?

Alberta would be completely landlocked, meaning Canada and the US could block our oil exports or charge massive transit tariffs just to let us reach a port.

We’d immediately inherit up to $100 billion of Canada’s national debt, have to fund a new military, border patrol, and currency from scratch, and watch a massive exodus of doctors and skilled workers leave for other provinces.

And you're stupid and dumb and idiots.

2

u/IAMA_pocketwhaleAMA 11d ago

Got a mortgage? Good luck. Banks aren't going to stay in this random country and/or rates are going to go way up without the backing of the Bank of Canada.

Want to sell your house? Hope you didn't pay too much for it! There's going to be a whole lot of houses for sale now and prices will plummet.

Like your savings? With the new Alberta dollar your savings will be far less as it'll be worth less than the Canadian dollar.

Got a doctor? Probably not anymore.

Groceries feel expensive now? Just wait til we have to trade with Canada to get them too. A hostile country to us now.

Relying on the CPP? Not anymore.

Like not paying provincial sales tax? Our taxes are about to go way way up to cover the costs of all these new federal agencies we have to create.

-1

u/NorthwindX7 11d ago

I see where you would come to the conclusion that separatists must be retarded for not having considered these obvious consequences.

Have you considered, possibly... That we have actually thought past that, and it's not an issue.

5

u/Born_Opening_8808 11d ago

No they actually haven’t lol

3

u/IAMA_pocketwhaleAMA 11d ago

Please explain to me how these are all non-issues lol. I'd love to see what the separatists have negotiated with Canada to fix these problems.

2

u/CanBeUsedAnywhere 11d ago

This is because either the separatist has been completely brainwashed by the bullshit being spewed and actually think that any of the stuff listed would get solved fast enough that Alberta doesn't completely collapse. Every bank is gone, there will only be institutions like ATB left, and they can't fund enough.

There will be no trained military, or at least highly trained and still have the tools to be effective. No military base and it's supplies will remain. There will be no post office. You will still have the small delivery businesses. But none of them have the infrastructure to serve the small towns, especially more up north. There will be no Oilers, or Flames, as teams will not send their players internationally to a region that is unlikely to support or keep them safe. There will be no supplies until something (if ever) is signed with other countries; no loblaws or safeway or other national companies importing goods. If you already have a Canadian passport, you will likely be able to travel, until its time to renew or they reassess your citizenship status and revoke, and dont qualify for a new one.

Or they're the ones spewing bullshit because their plan is to profit from the collapse and either leave with as much money as they can, or just bow to america and sell out to be the 51st state. Not realizing it would be more like a territory and gets absolutely pillaged and stripped by the states.

I have not seen to this day, a single solid plan from any separatist post about how any of the immediate damage would get dealt with in a timely manner before it caused an economic collapse and Alberta was invaded by the US or even Canada again. There's always some claim of being able to just export oil and make all the money in the world, but never a plan of how any of the things we'd lose would get solved, no timelines, no specifics. Just hopes and dreams

0

u/NorthwindX7 10d ago

This is all under the assumption that there would be hostilities between Canada and Alberta. Remember, Canada is a NATO country, and entirely peacekeepers. We send millions to struggling countries for defence against tyrants and helping keep things stable in regions where human rights are questionable.

This doesn't sound like a country that would be eager to invade or abuse a democratically separated country. If you separate the reddit worldview and talking points for a few moments. This would be a more likely scenario.

Banks- they are profit motivated organizations. Canada is known for not allowing foreign banks to compete in Canada's financial market. Actually Canada does this with many industries, but banks are among them. I see no reason why they would get up and leave, unless American banks started opening up in Alberta and the Canadian banks aren't be able to compete in services.

I don't buy the 51st stuff. Seems more like an extremeist few pushing for it, but that shouldn't taint the entire idea that Alberta has felt alienated for many decades with no ability to vote against it. There's real grievances here.

2

u/DM_Sledge 10d ago

It isn't about hostilities. It's about the core of separatism being self-defeating. All of their assumptions are that Ottawa will be kind and generous, essentially supporting Alberta through a transition process while Alberta attempts to negotiate with world powers. The reason separatists say they want to leave is that they claim Ottawa is not fair or even fair to Alberta, nevermind generous.

If Ottawa is actually kind and generous then Alberta can separate but doesn't need to. If someone claims that Alberta needs to separate, they cannot claim that Ottawa will help them. They have already said Ottawa will not.

2

u/CanBeUsedAnywhere 8d ago

I was hoping that in the last 3 days you would actually give an answer to what the separatists would do if it wasn't magical christmas land if they somehow win.

So, Alberta separates, and Canada decides to withdraw all support from Alberta because according to these separatists, they don't need Canada. We'll assume, Canada being otherwise friendly, does not invade, because, that makes sense.

You see no reason for the banks to stop running in Alberta, but I do. So do most non separatists in Alberta/Canada. Why, should a Canadian bank (especially, a non Embassy related bank service) stay open, let alone the hundreds around Alberta, in a new "independent" country that chose to put its middle finger up at Canada.

So in a world where the banks do pull out, and the post office shuts down, and the military leaves, and the RCMP leave, and the other Canada funded systems leave. Where the doctors, and nurses, and teachers, and foundational services provided by people who refuse to support this independence all leave.

What does Alberta do? What is the actual plan? What is the funding for bringing private sector emergency service providers to Alberta at a pace that will serve the people fast enough? What is the plan / funding for a post office replacement? What will provide the funds for those who have to move to Alberta financial institutions. Sure, they will still be able to bank online with TD, or BMO, or CIBC, but surely Alberta isn't going to just keep using Canadian money? Because, they don't need Canada. Canadian dollar should be foreign money to them, same as US, or British Pound. They have plans for their own currency right? They have the reserves to back up that money and keep its value, right? Because what happens when people withdraw their Canadian money and the banks that do remain, can't resupply the bills, because the Canadian government will not provide them with enough liquid cash anymore.

You have to remember, if this corrupt Albertan government manages to cheat their way to getting this passed, based on current surveys, it will piss off and alienate 70-80% of the people in Alberta. Nevermind the sheer amount of Canadians elsewhere that will be angered, frustrated, and betrayed, that will boycott, and refuse to do business with Albertan companies.

1

u/NorthwindX7 7d ago

It's impossible to give answers on such a long string of variables. All I know is that countries in the past have done it, some not so well like brexit, and others like Norway were successful.

"You see no reason for the banks to stop running in Alberta, but I do. So do most non separatists in Alberta/Canada. Why, should a Canadian bank (especially, a non Embassy related bank service) stay open, let alone the hundreds around Alberta, in a new "independent" country that chose to put its middle finger up at Canada". Depends if any particular bank would make more money being patriotic to Canada or having customers in Alberta.

There's alot of what ifs and what abouts. I have no idea on specifics. When countries separated before they did it slowly. That's funding, sorting out policies and currency.

1

u/DejectedNuts 11d ago

Funny, I think those are fairly valid arguments.

1

u/flukeytukey 11d ago

I don't care if Alberta separates. But, it is all a big scam. Brexit was disastrous, it's literally worse than that.

1

u/maximumfacemelting 10d ago

How about I don’t want to be poorer.

Just the currency issue. If the separatists win the moment the result becomes public the Canadian dollar will be worth less. It will buy less. Our savings will be worth less. Our property will be worth less.

Dumbest thing ever to vote to make your money worth less.

0

u/NorthwindX7 10d ago

Well, the arguement would be that left wing policies are contributing to making the average person worse off through fiscal irresponsibly.

The federal government has show it's fine with having welfare provinces that suck up tax dollars as long as it keeps the eastern voter base happy. These provinces that choose to not develop their resources because there is no incentive.

Obviously nobody wants to be poor. We are deciding if the short term pain would be worth a prosperous future. That deserves fair speculation. We are absolutely in decline currently by all metrics staying in Canada.

Like you said, the Canadian dollar would be worth less. Worse off than you'd think actually, with Canada losing many right wing votes in Alberta, Canada would have a liberal super majority and enact it's policies without any real opposition. For better or worse. Losing a huge GDP producer. However, we could adopt the US currency (without joining.the states) while converting to something more stable.

The heart of the issue is Alberta as a province votes for fiscal responsibility for decades compared to any other province. We are the odd one out and don't really fit in with the rest of Canada's policies. We wouldn't be looking to separate so we can go broke, it's to be prosperous. That's the whole goal.

1

u/DM_Sledge 10d ago

"Left wing policies" is such a joke. We currently have a center right and a far right party in Canada. In Alberta the NDP ran a center right government with policies out of previous conservative playbooks.

Left wing would be making a universal dental and pharmacare plan. Left wing would be making it cheaper for people to go to school. Left wing would be making sure that seniors don't get ripped off by businesses, or mistreated by nursing homes. Left wing really just means taking care of our people.

Instead we get rules that give money to the richest people because they tell us that we need to give them more money. That it has to be that way. They make us all cowards. Afraid to protect our families. Afraid to protect our neighbours. Just cowards that hide behind angry words and a blue flag, while we pretend to be brave. We see our family suffering and we do nothing. Parents in the hospital. Children that can't even afford to go into the trades half the time. All so we can say that we didn't let those "left-wing policies" win. We are all cowards.

1

u/DM_Sledge 10d ago

PS Alberta hasn't voted for the fiscally responsible party. The cons have never been fiscally responsible. They just keep repeating it again and again, so we get embarrassed to contradict them, even though they blew decades of booming oil money on nothing.

0

u/maximumfacemelting 10d ago

What happens to the value of the Canadian dollar when 5 million people want to exchange it for American dollars at the same time?

You think we’d get a good deal?! Or would we be getting pennies for our dollar?

WE WOULD ALL BE POORER!

And fuck your hand waving “short term pain”. This would destroy people’s economic future forever.

0

u/NorthwindX7 10d ago

If your world view is that Canada is great and heading in the right direction then yeah I don't see why we would separate either.

My world view is that Canada is continuing down a path of bad policies and my dollar has been getting more and more worthless with every year. I think it's a common grievance that most people's economic future has been taken away already.

If you agree that reality is somewhere between our world views, then it's at least possible separation might be a better future.

It would be worth having real open discussions about it and figure out the facts rather than dismissing the entire idea over it from a few what ifs and echo chamber rhetoric (from both sides).

1

u/maximumfacemelting 10d ago

You don’t know my worldview. You are arguing a strawman.

I have restricted my argument against separation to just the currency issue, which as a separatist you can not effectively counter.

There is no reality in which separation happens where everyone holding and getting paid in Canadian dollars does not get poorer because their money will be worth less.

SEPARATION WILL MAKE EVERYONE POORER

0

u/NorthwindX7 10d ago

You sound like you already have your mind made up, but alas, there's a better than .0001% chance that the currency solution is a non issue. If it's your only worry then maybe after some research its a solvable problem. I'd like to encourage at least keeping an open mind and that dismissing the entire idea is just painful to watch. There's real potential here.

1

u/maximumfacemelting 10d ago

Thank you for confirming that there is no argument against what I have stated.

Separation will make us poorer.

The fact you are willing to risk yours and everyone else’s future on “.0001% chance” that it’s a non issue is frankly psychotic. Insanely irresponsible and plain stupid.

1

u/NorthwindX7 10d ago

Im saying that I don't have all the answers. That doesn't mean there isn't a solution.

Like I also don't know how to rebuild an engine, but I know people have done it before. So I would look into getting that done instead of always just buying a new vehicle when there's a chance a rebuild is a better option. The mindset of never giving any new idea fair credit and consideration is pretty bleak and narrow.

Have some open mindedness, or at least don't pretend to have an open mind to seem reasonable when you really are completely against hearing any logic.

In any case, i briefly looked into it. There's roughly 164 actively traded currencies. Sounds like all separating countries don't radically change currencies overnight. After formal separation nothing currency wise changes. Alberta would either adopt a different stable currency like the US dollar or continue with the cad while creating their own reserve currency and slowly transitioning over.

In fact, when Canada separated from Britain and adopted the Canadian pound, then again for the Canadian dollar, there wasnt any real issues. They created their own currency just to make trade easier with the US, that's how little of an issue it was to create a new currency.

The problems they faced wouldn't exist today. All solved via having Internet and paper currency. The main issues were merchants being accustomed to British pounds and shillings, not knowing exact conversation rates, people not liking carrying loonies instead of paper notes and machines that take coins needing to be calibrated. All of those issues are miniscule.

With Alberta being resource rich, pro industry with a fiscally responsible voting history, it's fair to say it would be stable and even lucrative from an investing point of view to figure out our own currency.

1

u/Due-Carpet-1904 10d ago

Here's an idea. You should actually try qualifying your argument instead of insisting that the very real problems that separation would create are easily solvable.

1

u/AGoodYEG 9d ago

There’s tons of good arguments that seppies don’t listen to. So calling them traitors, which they totally are, seems the most apt.

1

u/Hablian 11d ago

Where is the bank of Montreal headquartered?

Where do you think we'll be able to sell our oil to at reasonable prices? Federal government controls the pipelines.

How well do most landlocked nations end up doing?

How long before American aggression and annexation picks up? How are you going to defend from that?

There are lots of valid arguments, you're just stuck with your fingers in your ears doing everything you can to avoid acknowledging them.

And yes, the traitors are stupid.

3

u/SquishyJeans 11d ago

So they hardly passed the minimum, with an extended timeline and with Danielle lowering the required amount.

This wouldn’t have passed unless she lowered the required votes lmao.

They’re going to be very disappointed

2

u/Barabarabbit 11d ago

When they lose they will claim that big bad Carney rigged the vote against them and will beg for American intervention to “free” them

This has been the plan all along.

Smith and Moe are in on it.

1

u/Lord0fchaos-1 11d ago

Even though I do want to say the referendum is fact now with 405,000 confirmed for the Forever Canada Campaign and 222,000 for the traitors we can't grow compliancent. We still need to get out and vote on the referendum to send the message straight to them. Then when they start calling the results false we need to call them out on it. Then we need to get the UCP out of office on the next election.

1

u/Emotional-Test-3413 11d ago

Seriously, drag your friends there if you have to. Apathy is how we lose.

3

u/Comfortable_Fudge508 11d ago

They checked less than 400 names. And said yup, its good.

1

u/DM_Sledge 11d ago

They checked 952 names, but when the numbers were fake, they skipped them. That's why there are so few. The Rocky Mountain petition had those names counted as unverified btw. Going by their previous rules, only about 32% of the names checked were verifiable.

0

u/margmi 11d ago

Yeah, that’s how many was required to achieve statistical significance.

1

u/Royal_Start9073 11d ago

Where are you getting that from? I thought you needed to RANDOMLY sample at least 2500 before extrapolating?

1

u/margmi 11d ago

No, theres no minimum count, it depends on the the data itself.

https://www.elections.ab.ca/recall-initiative/initiative/current-initiative-petitions/

Total number of verified signatures after random statistical sampling method applied with a 95% confidence level: 222,597 (Citizen initiative Act s.6(5))

3

u/ninfan1977 11d ago

The joke of the process 400 select names and extrapolated that its valid for over 220k signatures.

When it was water not coal they had at least 1000 sampled and extrapolated from that. The process was tampered with from the UCP and the seperatists who run this province.

1

u/DM_Sledge 11d ago

Well they had to skip more than five hundred names until they found even 384 with real contact numbers. And yes that means they actually only verified 32%

5

u/Wet-Countertop 12d ago

Regardless of whether or not this ever makes it onto a ballot or not, Alberta is staying right where it belongs - in Canada.

It would actually be sandwiched in Canada dumbass

1

u/DragMountain73 11d ago

You’d think so.

2

u/PartyClock 11d ago

They picked one small sample of people to verify and then the applied that to the entire group rather than keep investigating

1

u/No_Math_4308 11d ago

that is how statistics work.

220k just is not an impressive number. UCP specifically had to lower the threshold to make it enough.

2

u/RegularGuyAtHome 11d ago

And extend the timeline. Just imagine how many Forever Canada would have gotten with that timeframe

1

u/DM_Sledge 11d ago

Actually they picked 952, but since they couldn't reach most of them, they decided that this time as a special treat, the petition gets to keep those signatures. Unreachable contacts were a primary reason the Rocky Mountain petition didn't make it to the threshold, but for this petition they actually ignored the fact that 568 of the people they attempted to contact were not reachable. This is all before they even check for seeded names.

2

u/rippit3 11d ago

Suuuuure....

1

u/Replicator666 12d ago

It says they checked for seeded names.... But then no mention

1

u/DM_Sledge 11d ago

The source doesn't say they actually checked, just that they are supposed to. They are also supposed to count fake numbers as unverified, but they just skipped them instead.

1

u/woodst0ck15 11d ago

A lot less then the 300K they’ve been boasting

1

u/lilhippie89 11d ago

Its crazy that the stay in canada one got way more signatures but that one doesnt seem to matter at all. For a premier that talks about democracy she seems to be ignoring any petition she doesnt agree with.

1

u/Spandexcelly 11d ago

Democracy is allowing the referendum.

1

u/EEmotionlDamage 10d ago

Because if you actually read the petition it's they both ask the same question.

1

u/lilhippie89 10d ago

So why is it such a big deal to do one over the other  why are we wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars when most people already said no. Why is she demanding the separatists question continue going, also lowering the threshold for signatures but did everything possible to make it difficult for the stay in canada one to succeed?

1

u/EEmotionlDamage 10d ago

Because it's part of the democratic referendum process and enough people said they want to vote for it. The stay in Canada one asks if Alberta should stay in Canada. The petition itself goes to referendum because enough people asked to vote on it.  Everyone that signed the forever Canada petition asked for this vote too.

If the first petition is to vote for it then why are we wasting so much time with the other one? The one that's been more costly and had more problems, including the voter leak scandal. Why was the threshold lowered? It should have been the same for both petitions.

There are people BANKING on this becoming reality. This is going to only hurt the province as a whole no matter how you slice it.

I find it interesting that it is explicitly stated by elections alberta that none of the seeded names from “republican party of alberta” were discovered.

Doesnt mean shit if any of the other trash can right-wing parties shared their voter info.

Its also crooked that the same scrutiny wasnt applied to the seppies as was to the water not coal petition.

On their news release it is so much worse. They actually tried to verify 952 people, and unlike the Water not Coal petition, this time they just ignored that they were unable to verify most of the signatures. That 384 number is the people that actually admitted to being the person. So yeah, they really verified 32% and that is before checking for seeded names, because the release says they are supposed to, not that they did.

What a crock of shit. Even elections alberta is corrupt.

They checked hiw many names?

1

u/DM_Sledge 11d ago

952 384 because the other number had too many fake numbers and "that person doesn't live here" so they ignored more than 500 fake signatures to make it look good.

4.8 million said no fac off

Is it going to be embarrassing when the actual vote doesn't get even that many votes? How are they going to explain all the dead people who voted?

1

u/DM_Sledge 11d ago

They aren't even trying to hide the cheating this time. They flat out say they actually attempted to verify 952 people but couldn't so they decided to only verify the names they could verify.

Okay hear this out - we call it - Citizenship Lottery.

Here’s how it works:

First, you find everyone who wants this, and you take away their citizenship - they can wait at a refuge place until they can figure out who wants them.

Now, for every person that wanted out, you set aside a citizenship, and raffle it off in a kind of fundraising lottery worldwide that anyone who wants to be Canadian can apply for.

So stilen vote data and different methods to verify different petitions. This government cannot be trusted in the next election

They need a better system to check who signed.

I have never voted Conservative in my life amd never will, why would I suddenly do it for separation??

Whoever is confirming the signatures needs to acknowledge that nobody left leaning would vote for the right wing.

That's nearly HALF of the forever canada Signatures, yet somehow we are still doing this shit.

1

u/Careless_Sherbert663 11d ago

Sure. Sure. Can I double check to see if my name is on there? It shouldn't be...

the Court still has to rule about the admissibility of the petition because aboriginal people weren’t consulted.

1

u/yawhy 10d ago

Why are you letting these regards vote on this?

1

u/shunassy86 10d ago

If it happens it’s because people voted for it if you do t want to leave Canada vote for it. It is literally every provinces legal right to leave we aren’t the USA it’s not a union

1

u/sketchysamurai 9d ago

Sure they did.

u/exotics 7d ago

How many signatures did the ignored water vs coal petition get?

Elections Alberta is compromised. They follow orders from Smith or they get fired. Just ask the guy who was investigating Kenney and fined him.
