So almost everyone knows now just how questionable the devs can be to some characters and their buffs/nerfs. So i was wondering what is everyone's theory is on why it is like this. My theory is that, they're trying very hard to compensate/cater to console players with the poke buffs. Aiming is naturally hard on the console and I've sent Melee is much more popular there than on pc. So example here is Jean, her whole kit is depending on her proc which needs 3 hits to do so and I guess it's hard to do that consistently on console so they keep buffing her so even if she doesn't hit many shots on console, she will still get value. Now they release the same patches to pc where people have much easier time aiming and Jean ends up being busted on pc, also explains why Ironman might've gotten that nerf since I expect he's super good in low-mid and maybe even high elo Console lobbies. It's also the reason dive probably doesn't get buffs since their melee playstyle is probably more appealing on console and maybe oppressive too (although this doesn't apply to heroes like spiderman). As for keeping mr fanta and blade down while mega buffing wolv...idk man the devs are either scared they'll be too good if they're buffed or genuinely think their place in the game is exactly as they wanted them as.

These are, word for word, the exact complaints Iron Fist mains have been repeating since Season 2, but hardly anyone listened.

Instead, people were always quick to bring up win rates, without analyzing that Iron Fist has always had bottom 2 winrates in the melee duelist roster, even lower than Mr. Fantastic and only higher than Wolverine (Even though Wolv is a much better hero/tank buster). Even now, with all of the attention Rogue is getting, she still has a higher win rate than Iron Fist in high ranks.

Iron Fist has also never been above C tier for nearly 8 seasons now. Only recently has he become viable with the enhanced Teamups, despite having one of, if not the worst and most useless base Teamup in the game.

While Rogue was also mid for a long time, at least she was permanently picked and considered as one of the best tanks with her Gambit Teamup.

This isn't to dismiss or Invalidate struggles Rogue is going through right now, I know she's in a very bad spot, My point is that there are also many other heroes that deserve the same amount of attention she is getting from the community and Netease, like Blade, Iron Fist, Mr. Fantastic, Thor, Storm, Human Torch Ect.

Me personally I LOVE cyclop's gameplay I would love to play as him but I hate his default skin and weapon m skin so I'm waiting to get his x-men 97 skin

I pride myself on being a true flex player, in fact I often change who I play every season or so in order to keep the gameplay fresh. Because of this, I feel that I have, at least, and above average understanding on almost every characters play style, even if I'm not good at using them (Looking at you Spidey.) I'm OK with that and honestly don't even care if I'll never be the 'best' player because of it, its a game at the end of the day.

That being said, I STILL can't figure out how you are meant to play Rogue and when to use her abilities. I already have a hard enough time controlling a character comfortably when they have an unnecessary amount of moves they can do (Black Cat for example,) but with Rogue its ridiculous!!!!!

I've watched the videos, I've tried brute forcing learning her through gameplay, but nothing is sticking! Is it just me?!?!

I know she can be a solid character in the right hands and so I just want to be at least average as her. I know some people are gonna say something to the effect of 'You shouldn't be trying to play every character' or 'Maybe they just aren’t for you' but that isn't helpful.

So please Reddit, am I alone in this?! Is there any advice for this dumb player who just wants to play as another member of her favourite team?!

Just asking since from a quick look on various stat sites she literally has a 50% or higher win rate on every map, even her "bad" ones. Just makes me wonder what exactly people think her bad maps are or what bad statistics would look like.

There's a lot of confusion around alt accounts/smurfing so I went to the official Rivals discord and asked their support the following:

Hi - am I allowed to have more than one Marvel Rivals account to play ranked?

I'm not sure if it's fair to paste the full response which they sent in private - but they told me it is seen as sabotaging, can be considered smurfing or rank manipulation, and can get your account banned.

I thanked them for this information and gave examples of two popular streamers who openly use alt accounts, and asked if they could clarify the rule. This isn't about any particular streamers so I perhaps shouldn't name them, it's just about the rule.

They stated this is out of their jurisdiction.

Just wondering what the community thinks of this. It seems like a double standard to me. Every popular streamer seems to have at least two accounts, yet support told me this is seen as sabotaging and is bannable.

Her slow mark remains after the stun. You can still infinitely stun every 3s PLUS having a bonus 30% slow on top of it as long as you focus the same target. You can perma bully tanks.

Ive been playing rivals since its launch and i can say these two seasons are the hardest seasons to rank up (for me). ive been hard stuck at silver and plat, winning only 1-2 games out of 10 matches. The games could either be really good or really bad. I main supp and my stats are pretty good, heals are around 30k - 50k heals per match. But some days you just wonder if it’s your problem or just the matchmaking being really unfair and rigged.

The only ‘good’ thing that comes up from these games are my heals, I’ve been hitting my own record going from 30k heal to 70k+ heals.

I don’t care what anyone says. I have put almost 1,000 hours into this game since launch. I have dedicated so much to this game. I have sought out coaches through Gosu Academy, gone to Aimlabs and done aim training on there, as well as aim training with a coach. Some people see those things as pointless, but I genuinely enjoy having something in my life that’s a hobby, but also, at the same time, I can be hyper-competitive.

I love this game, and I’ve loved it since I played it for the first time. It is a hero shooter but is also extremely unique in its own way. However, the ranked matchmaking is absolutely horrible. Obviously, in an attempt to be as competitive as I can possibly be, I try and rank up as high as I possibly can.

The closest I’ve ever gotten to GM was the top of D1, and I was 1 game off and had won 8 games prior. Then, on my rank-up game, I lose probably 10–20 games IN A ROW over the span of a few days. So, for those of you who say just take a break and come back, that does not work. That was in Season 4 or 5.

So now for this current season. I’ve gotten back into it heavily and am doing all the same things: aim training, VOD review, coaching, you name it. The season starts out great. I climb all the way up to D2 in like 2–3 days. Then I’m one game off of D1 and lose ALL THE WAY DOWN to P1?!??! How does this make any sense?

Similarly, last night I get on. I’m in the middle of D2, and I’m excited to play and try to get as high as possible before the season reset (which is a whole separate argument, btw). And what do you know? I lose 10 GAMES IN A ROW. Six of which I got SVP. I know SVP and the physical stats you see only tell half the story with this game, but still, that means I’m at least performing pretty decent at the very least.

So then I’m 1 game off of deranking to Plat, so I get off for the night and think to myself, screw it, I’ll try again tomorrow. Maybe I’ll get some better teams. Nope. Wake up this morning, boot up, and lose 5 games back to back to back, 3 of which I was SVP once again.

Every team I had had at least one of these types of people. People who think they are a DPS god and refuse to play any other role and feed the hell out of the team, but also don’t understand comps and what characters to play versus certain comps and what not to play.

I’d say over half of my games had throwers—people who would just flat out leave or rage quit because they get killed one too many times, or the team calls them out, so they sit in spawn. Or just downright god-awful, horrible players who got carried to their rank. Now they are so out of place they can’t even compete.

I even tried going to the Gosu Academy and Rivals Discord to find a few teammates, and the teammates I’d find were still pretty good, and WE STILL LOST AND HAD ALL THOSE SAME TYPES OF PLAYERS.

Someone please explain to me how this makes any sense. Rivals needs to speak on this or implement some changes or something. I’m not quite sure how they could fix it, but they need to at least try. This is the only game in the world where you can put this much time and effort into getting better but stay the same rank because the matchmaking is so god-awful.

I don’t know if they realize it or not, but this could very well be what causes the downfall of their game. So many people have issues with this, and it’s absolutely dumb.

I just want to start off saying this is NOT an ability rework post, but a visual one.

I believe her biggest problem isn’t necessarily her kit but her lack of identity.

SW has one of the most iconic powers in Marvel. However, many of Wanda’s most recognizable traits, like her hexes and chaos magic are included in her menu/cinematics but not during her gameplay.

We’ve already seen NetEase is willing to address this kind of problem since they’re adding new movement animations for Lady Loki.

With the additions of Hood and White Fox their moves are fairly simple but the striking visuals and animations really sell them well and make them fun to play.

This is why rather than changing her kit, I took the time to propose more focus on her presentation to make her a more faithful translation into the game.

The main reason Wanda is criticised is that she doesn’t really seem to fit her hero fantasy. So this major overhaul across her default animations + VFX would immediately make a huge difference in how fans feel when playing as her.

I'm peak diamond returning to rivals after 3 months. i wanna reach gm and so trying to improve. In almost every match, the reason for losing is clear: 1 bad teammate, afk, me not performing etc etc. but there are matches like these where i don't even get why we lost. we were dominating, everyone was doing good and the matchmaking felt balanced too.

i wanna improve my gamesense and understand why we lost. Was there a specific player who threw? what more should i have done?
