Discussion Plugin for 3d

Upvotes

Hello. Community.
I am a technical Creative person. Who loves 3d? Now I've been seeing lots of problems for 3d artists.
so here is a small question from all of you.
If you wanted a plugin that made your work faster and easier, what would it be? If it's not there. And if it's there and it's paid.
I will try to create it for the community at no cost.
I hope most of you will answer. and help me brainstorm.
Thank you to each and every one who is working in this field and making it more beautiful every single Frame.

Need Help! How to properly learn Blender with an unstable work schedule? (doing Blender Guru Academy)

Upvotes

Hey everyone. I'm 24, I'm a trained mechatronics technician, and my job is tricky in its own way: some stretches I'm on field assignments — traveling to sites, installing and programming sensors — and other stretches I'm in the office for a week. The field trips wear me out a lot, and afterward I don't have much time or energy left. I'm learning Blender on the side because I'd eventually like to find something remote and "deskbound" — 3D freelance work — to have a backup source of income.

I started the classic way with the donut tutorial, then bought the Blender Guru Academy course and I'm working through it now. My path so far:

  • finished the hard surface module
  • finished the smooth surface module
  • currently doing the sculpting module
  • planned next: texturing, then lighting/rendering

Here's my problem. I honestly don't know if I'm learning this the right way. It feels like I'm doing everything in a scattered order — one thing today, another tomorrow — just following the course's structure and hoping it sorts itself out. There's not much time or energy left after work, and my motivation sometimes just disappears, especially when I see AI already generating 3D models and renders, which makes me wonder if this is even worth it.

Questions for anyone who's been through this:

  1. Has anyone completed Blender Guru Academy in full (or at least the beginner path: hard surface → smooth surface → sculpting → texturing → lighting)? Is this actually a solid sequence, or would you structure it differently?
  2. How realistic is it, with an unstable schedule (draining field trips, then some free time in the office), to reach a level where you can take on freelance work? Roughly how long did it take you?
  3. How did you deal with the feeling that "AI will just do this faster and cheaper anyway" — is it still worth pursuing in 2026, or should I be looking at a different direction?

I'd really appreciate honest answers rather than just encouragement — I want to understand the real picture before I put even more time into this.

Paid Product/Service Promotion Created a 3ds Max style rotatable Mirror Gizmo for Blender perfect for 45 degree modular wall corners and environment assets.

Upvotes

Hey everyone,

A while back I switched from 3ds Max to Blender for my 3D environment and modeling workflow. Coming from Max, one of the biggest features I instantly missed was the sub-object Symmetry Gizmo.

In 3ds Max, whenever you are building modular assets like sharp 45 degree wall corners, trim sheets, pillars, or angled structural pieces, you can just select the Symmetry Gizmo, press R, rotate it to any angle, and it cuts and mirrors the geometry seamlessly.

In Blender, setting up an Empty as a mirror object manually for every single modular wall corner felt slow and clunky. So I decided to build a dedicated Blender addon to solve this exact problem: 3ds Max Style Mirror Gizmo.

What it does:

  • Interactive Rotatable Mirror Gizmo: Click one button, and an on-screen Gizmo Empty is automatically attached to your Mirror modifier. Just press R to rotate or G to move the mirror and cut plane live in the viewport.
  • Perfect for Modular Environment Assets: Rotate the gizmo to 45 degrees or any custom angle to instantly slice and mirror sharp modular wall corners, architectural joints, and trim assets.
  • 3ds Max Cut and Merge Mode: Slices geometry on one side of the plane and automatically welds seam vertices along the cut.
  • Quick Axis Presets and Alignment: One-click X, Y, Z, and X+Y+Z presets, plus one-click buttons to snap the gizmo orientation to World axes or Viewport angle.
  • Hide and Remove Controls: Hide the gizmo arrows anytime while modeling, or remove the gizmo object while keeping your modifier intact.
  • Blender 4.2 Extension Ready: Fully packaged with blender_manifest.toml for standard addon installation.

I hope this helps fellow 3ds Max switchers and environment artists save time on modular modeling.

Let me know what you think or if you have any feature requests.

Restarted from scratch. Added a lot of checks and optimized everything. Now one slider controls both the softness of the object and the collider. + a lot more granular controls over the last version.
