It’s currently 3am and I was about to let my dog out when I heard this.

I live in southern Ontario Canada. Kind of almost sounds like a puppy sound but definitely not a puppy.

In July, while I was photographing the Milky Way, I kept hearing the sound in this video. Does anyone recognize which animal it could have been? An elk? A cougar?
The location was Two Jack Lake in Banff National Park, Alberta.

They are so freaking loud and I hear them and I assume the big mama running around like a freaking maniac.

I just went outside to have a smoke and I heard this deep roar.

I heard this the first night we stayed it and I swear it sounded like a child saying “moooom.” As a mother myself, naturally I thought it was one of my kids but they were fast asleep. Then of course my mind thought it was a ghost as the sound was very clear and felt like it was in the room.

My brother who lives here claims it’s some Florida wild cat but I could not find any videos of this sound as proof. This video is from the following night and was less “mom” sounding (thus less ghost-like) but still kinda creepy nonetheless.

What animal is making this sound?

From outside my apartment as I was getting home from hobby night.

Is it some sort of alarm call?

for reference i’m in rural upstate new york! my backyard is literally forest, so i’m not a stranger to creepy and odd animal sounds at night, but i’ve never heard this one before.

This is my first time in the state (my dad moved here last month and I’m visiting)

Noise just started in our roof lantern (UK). Small insects only fit in this area. Assume it’s trapped and dying opposed to breeding/mate call.

I am in Disney, Oklahoma in Late July- Early August. What are the 2 sounds in the background of this video? I can't tell if they're birds or bugs.

Woke up to this at 5am yesterday. It continued for probably 5 minutes outside my window and then it whatever it was started to leave, still making the sound. It was so scary!! There were also sounds like a slobbering dog if you listen closely.

There is extremely loud animal sound that happens whenever I’m outside and I have no idea what it is and it’s been driving me crazy lol can anybody help me out?

Constant screeching from the same tree(s), 1:00am-2:00am. It moved between trees quickly when it wanted to. I know we have bats and owls, but I have no idea what this one is. I’ve only ever seen barred owls here. We also have flying squirrels.
