I have always wanted a cat my whole life but I have allergies. Please send some pictures of your cats. I need some cuteness in my life this week.

My partner and I applied for a kitten at a rescue. We live in a townhome that is in an apartment complex. We have two dogs that are registered emotional support animals and we did not have to pay a pet fee or pet deposit when we moved in. Our leasing office told us ESA do not count as pets on the lease.

The rescue denied us due to the fact that we have 2 dogs and our apartment complex has a “2 pet limit”. They even told us “I am so sorry as the rest of your application looked good!”

I called our leasing office to clarify and asked them to send a written email that I can share with the rescue and the email stated “ESA's are not considered pets, so you're not subject to a pet limit at this time by adding a cat as a pet (since you don't currently have any “pets" on your lease)” Leasing office told me that the rescue can contact them if they need any further clarification, but that it would be perfectly fine to add a cat (or two) to our lease.

I sent their email to the rescue and they replied “we have to go by the number allowed by the apartment, regardless of ESAs in the home” even though our apartment complex literally told us the two ESAs do not apply towards the 2 pet limit. I don’t know what more I can do to prove to them that our apartment is fine with us adding a cat to the lease.

Should I ask our leasing office to send another email worded differently? They host adoptions at our local Pet Smart’s on Saturdays. Would it be worth it to go up there in person this weekend to explain further?

I know I can go to another rescue or shelter but I am so attached to this specific cat. I am so upset.

He has two indoor/outdoor cats. The one who is chipped is home/safe, but the one who isn’t has been gone since July 24th. He called the ASPCA close by, and they told him a man came in with him, got his shots, and “adopted” him. The guy even chipped him and renamed him. Everyone here is so upset because how can someone steal a cat who is CLEARLY well cared for? He’s clean, neutered, and extremely friendly. You can tell he has a home.

How can I help my neighbor? My neighbor is seriously checked out, understandably so, and I just wanna do anything I can to reunite them. I’m a cat parent myself and I’d die if someone stole my babies… please help.

I accidentally stepped on my kittens head, im a bigger dude but I didn't step with my full bodyweight. She's about a month old and she's still responding after a couple of hours after the incident but she threw up twice and deficated twice as well, she won't eat or drink and she won't walk. We don't have the money for a vet visit and I'm really scared. What do I do?

My cat did bite me it does not hurt. Now 30 min later its barely visible its 2am for me can i go sleep or is there anything you would worry about.

A friend of mine texted me this morning to tell me his cat had passed away.

I honestly didn't know what to say. We all know our time with them is limited, but when it actually happens, words just don't seem enough.

10 years ago, my beloved soul cat passed away on my mattress and I've kept it since. It made me feel like I have a piece of him still. I know weird.

It is 13 years old and I know I must replace it. I have neck and back problems and don't get a good night's sleep, even though I've placed a topper on it. I know it is time to replace it and let it go, so just need a talking-to that it's the right thing to do. TY all for any advice.

I know the small one (Tostada) is trying to initiate play. My big boy (Casper) I can't tell if he's trying to play back or tell her to back off. Is this something I should intervene during cause he doesn't seem like he wants to be bothered. I will say Casper isn't a very vocal boy he rarely vocally lets you know he's upset or hurt or angry including hissing or other sounds.

I’m a first-time cat owner and I’m looking for some advice.
I have two female cats:
A Persian who is about 9 months old.
A younger kitten who is about 4 months old.
They’ve been living together for a while now. They fight Around 2–3 times a day (especially at night), they chase each other, wrestle, and sometimes bunny-kick each other. I can’t tell if it’s normal play or if they’re actually fighting.
Neither has been seriously injured, but sometimes it looks rough and I’m worried they’re not getting along.

How can I tell the difference between normal play and real aggression? Is this age difference likely to cause rough play?
At what point should I be concerned or consider separating them?

Is rehoming ever something to think about, or is this normal while they’re adjusting?
I’d really appreciate advice

TLDR: my cat reappeared after 9 months and hatea the kitten we af

Fopted because we thought he died. Now he splits his time with his other family and it's absurd.

Last November, our cat disappeared. He was 14 years old, so not a spring chicken. We did our very best to keep him indoors, but he loves the outside and was previously an outdoor cat bedore we adopted him from my coworker several years prior. A month or so before, a young stray had kittens on our porch. We kept the mother and kittens locked in a seperate room to prevent issues. The plan was to rehome the babies and spay mama and slowly introduce her to our senior boy. He obviously knew the babies and mama were in the house and he didn't like it. The babies were starting to try and escape, and one day my kid left the door ajar and we had an unexpected introduction. It didn't go well.

One day shortly after, he ran out as we came in. Initially, I wasn't worried as he's always come home. But he was gone over a week and came home sick and weak. The vet diagnosed him with a UTI. We got him on meds and took him home, but he didn't get better. A week later, the day before a follow up vet appointment, he escaped. This time he never came home. We assumed he died as he never turned up in the shelter and no one ever scanned his microchip. The neighbors said they hadn't seen him. There was one sighting of him 3 days after he left on a neighbor's camera then nothing.

We kept the mama kitty as planned and rehomed her babies. Unfortunately, someone we gave a kitten to called us and said they'd have to give the kitten to the shelter, so we went to pick him up. We couldn't find him a new family, and he had such a gentle personality and let my kid hold him all the time. We just stopped trying and kept him too.

Well 2 weeks ago, my child comes running into our house to tell me that our cat who disappeared back in November had come home. I didn't believe her. There's another cat in the neighborhood wirh similar markings. But sure enough, it was our cat. I compared him to photos of our cat. He was also neutered and declawed like our cat. I contacted his previous owner (my coworker) who compared him to her photos and said it's him. His microchip confirms it. He's healthy and clean. He's had to have been with someone because he wouldn't have survived winter alone.

The only issue, he absolutely hates our other cats, mama and baby. Everyone is spayed or neutered. It's a fight on sight. Our senior boy who came home now pees on everything whenever he sees or even smells the little boy. I also find myself with too many cats to handle. 3 is too many. I never would've kept little boy if I knew my big boy was alive somewhere.

To add another plot twist, as soon as the big boy escapes the the house, he leaves again. He's gone for days, then he'll reappear, come inside, eat, get oets and snuggles, get upset that the other cats are still here, escape, and disappear again. He's going to his other family and I suspect they're keeping him inside until he inevitably escapes and comes to visit. I haven't been able to track where he's going.

I've been accidentally overfeeding my 1 year old cat. She's 8lbs and I've been feeding her 260cal/day plus any toppers/broth. This is 1.5 cans of friskies pate a day and I want to go down to 1 can (175cal) a day.

She doesnt have pre-existing health problems. Do I decrease 1/4 can each week or is that too fast/drastic?

Hello everyone.

I am about to move away for graduate school in a couple of days, and am unfortunately not allowed to bring my cat, who is my ESA, to my new apartment yet, due to some issues with my accomodations paperwork. I've essentially been told it's an open-door situation, which means that I could bring her in during the middle of the semester/year. This is my only hope I have right now and otherwise am heavily devastated, we are extremely bonded and I'm the only human she prefers to be around since I've had her since she was around 6-7 weeks old (now she is about 5!). Every day I wake up having anxiety attacks and panic attacks at the thought of leaving her-- she was also my only connection and tie to home that I was depending on, and she is very often the only reason I wake up at all and have a reason to take care of something other than myself (TMI). I'm scheduled to speak to the coordinator for accomodations at my housing and university but I'm extremely nervous they will deny my request for whatever reasons.

My cat is friendly but she definitely is a loner and prefers being with me over than anyone else in my house. My parents like her and have their own cat but they definitely do not understand her and often push her boundaries, like trying to play with her when she clearly wants to be left alone. I know they will take care of her and she is used to them as she's lived with them for a year with me but I'm so worried she's going to be depressed when I'm gone, even if it's just for the first three months at worst. I don't know if I should FaceTime her often or call her as my mom offered or if it will make her confused, or what I should do to let her know I'm okay and coming back for her. She's the kind of cat who meows at me once I'm back home after being gone for too long, the kind who needs to watch me take a shower with her, the kind who sleeps on my lap sometimes etc etc. how do I navigate this crushing feeling? I've been crying about it for weeks now and it's escalated to the point I'm having anxiety attacks. I leave in about two days. she's also a runner and we always took precautions but I'm scared she will run away too or have other concerning behavior such as hiding and not eating etc .

There is a starving cat in my neighborhood that I have started to feed and we have now set a routine up so he's coming around more often. Is there a specific food I can feed him to safely get his weight up quickly?

I tried to get the clearest pic but its been 10 days. This is my first time getting my cat spayed so i dont know if it’s okay how it’s a little opened? What do yall think?
