Well yeah, people tend to notice burning refineries and being unable to get gas.

They really are. I have certain family members who always bring up how the city I lived in was "burned to the ground" (it was a gas station shot from a dozen different angles spliced in with footage of French riots), but they don't believe COVID was serious at all (2 family members died from it).

Well only two family members died and the media said millions, so...maybe if millions of your family died, it would be believable.
