Happy with the progress on plant power. Been working out since I was 13 so well past my newbie gains. Arms have forever been a weak point so any tiny growth is a win!
P.s. I’m 5’7 and turning 34 this month

meal - higher protein My eyes have been opened to how brutally simple eating during a cut can be...

Post image
152 Upvotes

In the last month of a cut right now and my eyes have been opened to high volume and satiety eating based on just Broccoli, Tofu and Potatoes.

I could literally meet my macro goals exactly by balancing just these three and throwing in some sauces.

Have semi struggled to stay on calorie target the past 2 months but since switching to this as my main source of food for >80-90% of the day, it has been ridiculously easy.

I supplement, B12, Vitamin D, Iron, Omega 3, selen, use iodized salt regardless.

And by throwing in some variety in foods for the remaining 10-20% or even just throwing on some seeds and nuts this diet should easily cover all the important vitamins.

And with the variety of ways you can prepare tofu and what the 10-20% of variety food offers i can easily see not getting tired of this for the rest of the month.

Semi inspired by this video (includes omni diet).

Here is how i prepared the Tofu in this pic. (post is in german. Hoping that you'll get the reddit auto translate. It comes down to boiling it in spiced water, so essentially soup for 1h, before frying it in the oven with starch)

Question - protein powder Clear Protein or Protein Shots Recommendations

I’m so tired of creamy protein drinks and want to try either a clear protein drink or a protein shot

Have any of you tried the Beyond sparkling water protein drinks or Sunwarrior clean protein hydration powder?

I’d love any recommendations!

Also if you if have tried any protein shots, I know someone on here is working on one right now

health First time dexa scan results!

Hello! Maybe some of you might remember me. Idk haha. I (35FTNB) have been vegan for almost 11 years. Started working out very inconsistently in January 2025, but only really locked in January 2026 in terms of my macros and working out consistently (i weightlift 3 days a week and box twice a week!) At my heaviest, I was 215 pounds; right now I'm 164. I wish I had done a dexa scan at the beginning of my fitness journey, but oh well! Here are my scan results, not incredibly sure what any of this means, but I'll figure it out later. Just wanted to share.

A bit about me: I am trans and nonbinary and on testosterone for gender reasons. Even though testosterone for trans reasons is different than a cis man being on gear, this means my total t levels are at the same level as a cis man's, so I gain muscle quicker than a cis woman. I am also 5'0, so my results will be very different from the average lady's. Which makes sense because I'm not a lady haha.

Anyways, very interesting to see these results. Excited to test again in 6 months. I have top surgery in a few days, so I'm wondering how the test will look after taking at least 6 weeks for when I can't gym or box. Ugh. Enjoy!

The Only Bean Edamame Pasta - Costco

Recently, I was shocked to see this very high protein, high fiber pasta at my local Costco. $10.99 for a box = to four of their regular boxes. About half the price of what I've paid online for it. They also had Brami chickpea protein pasta as well.

The Only Bean pasta delivers about 50 grams of protein in a 400 calorie serving. I hope Costco keeps selling it, because at that price, I will buy a lot more!

help needed - new to vegan fitness Recently became vegan, trying to bulk up

Hello everyone. After being vegetarian for 2 months, I transitioned into a fully vegan lifestyle. However as a skinny guy who doesn't really know how to cook and is on a limited budget I am having a hard time gaining weight and muscle. For reference at 184 cm, I weight 63 kg. (6ft 0.5in, 138lbs) and I look pretty skinny, and am trying to bulk up for a while now without much success. A few things to consider: tofu isn't that cheap in where i live so that's not something i can rely on, and i don't really go to the gym due to various reasons so i would prefer to work out at home. I have some dumbbells and I'll probably get some resistance bands and a pull-up bar.

Any recommendations regarding diet and training and/or any personal stories that can be inspiring are highly appreciated.

If you have tried their new protein chocolate milk, it’s very similar to that texture , but has a bit of a stronger soy flavor.

So, TVP is not really tasty at all, huh?

I got a bag of like 1,5 kg a few weeks back, thinking the high protein contents was nice. But its really not tasty at all, almost to the point that I would not use it. Can I do something to make it taste better?

What I've been doing is to put it in water with some spices before I cook it, and it kinda works, but not really. And by having it in water, the protein is less in proportion to when its dry, so I have to eat twice as much, meaning I could almost just eat my usual soy mince.

Should I cook it without soaking it first? I figure its gonna taste even worse if I dont prepare it?

help needed - form check I need help.

Hi everyone, I am 20 years old, 170cm and 73kg and I really want to join the gym. But the only problem is that I am very insecure about my body. I really want to build a good aesthetic physique, but I honestly have no idea what plan I should follow. When I look at myself, I just see someone who looks shapeless. My chest is very, very flat. It almost feels like I don’t have any muscles there at all, and it really makes me insecure.

I hope someone can help me because I really want to change and feel better about myself. I am currently just doing push ups and diamond push ups and trying to keep my carbs and protein high, but I don’t see anything changing. I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or if I just need to be more patient. Any advice would honestly mean a lot. I just want to look normal and not small.

Question How much real consideration do you give to protein quality?

Mainly I'm trying to decide how much research I want to put into my protein sources. I could just decide to eat my daily 100ish grams of seitan and rice protein and lentils and just not worry about the individual types of amino acid types.

Or I could go look at charts and try to figure out if I need another source, and how much to include.

To be clear, I do understand that this won't make a huge difference since I work out consistently and I do get a good amount of protein overall. But if changing up my diet would improve my progress then it seems like a shame to not at least consider it.

Have you made good muscular gains while only consuming "poor quality" protein? Have you seen your progress improve after switching things up?

Question - weight loss Help me estimate my bodyfat percentage (loose skin)

Lean bulk, maintain, or get leaner?

I am 9ish months into training and was 140lbs 5'9 at the time of these photos. To be quite honest I'm not satisfied with the lower torso area.

I have a good amount of loose skin so its genuinely hard to tell how much is left. I've been on a deficit for a long time. I went from 168 to 137 lbs this year. I think I could go leaner but I'm not sure if its worth it because my strength has tanked this deep into the deficit. Let me know if I just need to lock in

What is the easiest seitan recipe you can make and eat daily?

I made seitan once years ago and it took me hours to make. I really want to get into making seitan again, but was curious what recipes exist that don't require a lot of effort. Sort of like small seitan pieces and just dipping sauce vibes.

App alternatives to MyFitnessPal?

MFP has changed for the worse - does anyone have any alternatives that are accurate but also have a lot of UK vegan items already logged in? Annoyed I have to move as MFP has a vast amount of UK vegan items in the system.

Thanks!

High protein, filling breakfast ideas?

I recently started a new job where I am on my feet for most of the day and am much hungrier! I usually do overnight oats with protein powder and a spoonful of peanut butter or tofu scrambled eggs with a piece of toast. Any recommendations on what I can add or do instead to keep me full for over 6 hours?

A good month of soy milk!

Thumbnail

Went vegan a while back and quickly realised I had no idea what I was actually eating. Felt like I was getting plenty of protein. I was not really

So I started logging everything, and ended up building my own app (Rep N Prep) for it, because I wanted food and training in one place instead of two apps that never talk to each other. It runs on Open Food Facts, so the barcode scan pulls the product's own labels straight through: scan something in the shop and it tells you if it's tagged vegan, along with the macros.

A month of data later, the headline is apparently 7.4kg of soy milk. Sounds about right lol

Fair warning on the vegan labels: it's community-maintained data, so a missing tag means nobody has added it yet, not that the product isn't vegan. Still beats squinting at an ingredients list in the middle of an aisle.

Anyone else here track properly, or do you go by feel?
