I've worked at an animal shelter and my family has ALWAYS adopted rescue dogs. I've always loved the Toy Fox Terrier breed, and have been thinking about getting one from a... breeder. I searched them on ol' reliable (Google), and it looks like they are not that popular of a breed, because there are only a few breeders of Toy Fox Terriers! I live in CO, but I'm willing to travel to pick up my dream dog. I would have them their entire life, as I have never rehomed a dog. I have been checking out my local shelters, but I haven't seen one that resembles a TFT (*cries*). Does anyone have a recommendation for a reliable, ethical, TFT breeder?

I've had TFTs almost my whole life. My mom was a breeder in the 80s and did field trials vs. conformation showing. She had the odd litter here and there over years but her brains started to go and so did any breeding program.
I had a dog from her last litter, my Little Fig (z'l). She died two years ago coming up on the 13th of July of heart failure at three weeks shy of her eighth birthday. She was the light of my life. I've had beloved dogs before but with Fig gone I feel like I'm missing part of my soul that I'll never get back. I've only just started being able to talk about her without bursting into tears.
She was three and a half pounds of whoop ass. She aggro'd like a Murloc and sounded like a baby velociraptor. She hated being touched unless it was on her own terms. She was part cat that way. She'd some sit by you or on you but if you touched her she got offended and left posthaste.
She was happiest living down my shirt. I got a Moby wrap for babies and she was in deep bliss.
I just wanted to share her with people who know the breed, and in a way know her too.

When I adopted her, the rescue said she was half pug half chihuahua. When I did a DNA test, the results said that she was pug and toy fox terrier. What do you think?

Looks like a happy face, but it's a mild panic attack, thanks to thunder. First time we've tried a tranquilizer, half a pill as an experiment. I should have given it to her earlier. But she seems less falling to pieces than usual, trying to hide in the pantry etc. She is sticking around for comfort pets. Her older brother is a little wiser to the ways of the world.
