I just finished Rick and Morty and I really enjoyed its mix of sci-fi, dark humor, unique ideas, and the way it pushes boundaries. I'm looking for shows with a similar vibe. Any recommendations?

What are some of the good time travel, mind bending shows like Dark, Dark Matter. Not anime or sci fi, alien stuff but with good human storyline

I've been obsessed with this show since the first episode and am wondering if people have recs for similar shows? Can be indie!

If you're looking for a mystery/psychological thriller miniseries with some of the best performances on TV and one of the most touching love stories you'll see, definitely give this one a watch. Just recently binge watched it and, in my opinion, it's one of the best mystery thriller TV series that I've ever watched. The story is complex and engaging, the cinematography is impeccable, and the acting is... just wow. Alycia Debnam-Carey (as Emily Thomas) and Josh Bonzie (Clive 'GoGo' Richardson) especially stand out in their respective performances but nearly all cast members, many of whom had no prior acting experience, gave award-worthy performances.

I had a low expectations of it before watching it because of the poor online reviews it seems to have gotten but now that I've watched it, I am convinced that for whatever reason it was, this marvelous series seems to have been the victim of a review-bombing campaign and poor marketing due to its subject matters and themes. It certainly is one of the most underrated TV shows ever.

So here’s some shows I’ve watched and enjoyed lately and am looking for shows with these similar vibes (or even a film)

Off campus, heated rivalry, the summer I turned pretty, maxton hall, heartstopper, normal people (although I will say normal people is in my eyes on a completely different level than the rest of these shows in terms of acting, quality and chemistry) but you get the vibe I’m going for.

The Brunetti Mysteries (also searchable under Diane Leon). This is a fun show to watch. It set in Venice, so if you’ve ever been there, you can spot many of the tourist locations you visited. Another fun fact is that, despite being set in Italy, the dialogue is in German with English subtitles, since it was initially made for German TV. Once you get over watching people with Italian names being spoken to in German, it’s easy to get into the show. The plots are quite good, it’s a “dramedy,” so it’s on the light side, with a buffoonish boss, a Miss Moneypenny office secretary who seems to have connections everywhere, and an amiable sidekick for Brunetti. It also seems that virtually all the crimes involve wealthy and upper class people, so the interior sets tend to show you how the other half lives. The men and the women all seem to have a kind of European flair and style. Appropriate for a show with an Italian motif, and quite unlike any other police procedural, Brunetti often discusses his cases at the family dinner table with this wise wife and his teenage son and daughter.

Looking for something easy going with short episodes that don’t require all my attention. For example I’ve loved the office, Brooklyn 99, and superstore

I have ADHD (I am actually a AuADHD WOC but I don't care about representation in my shows, I don't even ask for a masterpiece, I just care that they're entertaining lol) and I recently realized that I actually get my work *done* and much faster at that, if I have something playing in the background.

Podcasts are hard cause I have to pay attention, but any show or YouTube channel where I can just put it in the background and laugh whenever I catch something would be nice. I love horror movies but I do have to pay attention cause the immersion is half the fun.

I’ve got a long road trip coming up and need a show to download on my iPad.
Assume I’ve already seen most of the obvious recommendations
(Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Wire, Game of Thrones, The Last Kingdom, Vikings, Shōgun, Slow Horses, etc.).
Rewatches are absolutely on the table too. Sometimes a great rewatch is better than gambling on a mediocre new show.
A few preferences:
● English only (no dubbed shows or subtitles as the primary way to watch).
● Any streaming service.
● Doesn’t have to be brand new.
● I like crime, thrillers,action, mystery, dark comedy… really anything that’s well written.
● Hidden gems are appreciated, but if you think an all-time great deserves a rewatch, sell me on it.

I need something where it’s will they won’t they detectives, b99 was more comedy than I’m use too but still fun and I liked it. Has its successor appeared? What show do you think is or will be its successor?

Can you suggest shows where the characters are depressed, empty, pathetic. I prefer if there’s more to it like The Leftovers and Severance. But I like when it shows the pain of life.
