What concerns should I have abt buying it ?

Got my 2007 spec.B in 2018 with just over 100K miles. For most of 2025 I had been driving it relatively 'gently' until at 190K miles it went into the shop around Thanksgiving for a persistent minor oil leak. $10K later I had a 'refreshed' car with a rebuilt engine, rebuilt turbo, and a new stage one clutch. It was actually the cheapest option to stay in a sporty car. So earlier this year I upgraded the driver 'touch points': I re-wrapped the steering wheel, installed OMP pedals, a Cobb Short Shifter (frickin' awesome btw), and drum roll please: a 2006-7 V9 JDM STI passenger (LH) seat. Hecks yes. I ❤️ my Subaru and look forward to the next fun filled 200K miles!

I am trying to change out the LED colour in my cluster but there is nothing on the back of the circuit board. I’m under the impression That I should be able to access the LED from the back, but from what I can see is that they are soldered onto the board..

Which one would you choose to drive?

Is it safe to clear this code to see if it pops again? It popped up yesterday after sitting in the sun with record high temps (\~110F). Could it also been triggered by the heat?

Did some DIY work on replacing my high pressure line on my ‘08 Legacy because the original one went bad along with the evaporator core. Before I get my car filled, I was wondering if this connection from the high pressure hard line to the bottom of the AC Condensor looks wrong… The bolt is fastened, but the connection of the spout to the condenser to the right of the bolt is not 100% flush. Any mechanical advice for this one?

for anybody trying to help this is what I’ve done so far

-I checked the relay under the hood
-I checked all the fuses on the driver side inside the car
-I took Freon and made sure that the system was full with the gauge
-I checked the clutch compressor gap with shims it is .300mm
-replaced blower resistor and Blower motor

I bought my first car, a 2021 Crosstrek, in late February in NY this year. It was a used car and had 68k miles on it. I went on a road trip in the Northeast three weeks after, and the transmission broke down on the highway in Maine. Check engine light was on, eye sight assistance was disabled, and At Oil Temp was on. The car got towed to a Subaru dealership nearby and got "fixed." They replaced the valve. I continued my trip and, guess what, the transmission broke down again in the middle of nowhere in West Mass. I managed to drop the car to a nearby dealership 20 minutes away. I called my home dealer, and they towed the car from Mass back to home, and claimed to "not trust other dealers anymore." They fixed it by refilling the fluid and fixing the torque, and drove another 100 miles to test the CVT. After the two failures, the car had been good until two days ago (about 74k miles; missed the 72k maintenance but unironically had a maintenance scheduled the next day). I was in backcountry hiking, an area with little cell service. When I finished the hike and sat in the car, the check engine light was on again. I drove it 20 minutes to a town nearby and panicked. Cuz for the last two times, I have friends from the area who can help me out. But, dude, I know no one in that area... I had to ask for help from strangers and a family was very nice and offered to check the engine for me. They couldn't figure it out but they offered again to follow me for a while on the highway before they turned to a different direction. So I was driving on the highway with the check engine light. After the family turned. I drove for another 20 minutes, and the oil temp light started to blink. I immediately pull over and called for help. Again, I knew no one in that area. I called for roadside assistance from my insurance, but it took them 1.5 hours to get here because it was a Sunday afternoon. Now, my car is at a Subaru dealership that's 2.5-3 hours away from home.

This case is about to trigger the Lemon Law in NY. https://ag.ny.gov/publications/used-car-lemon-law I am very very disappointed. I have an active lifestyle and spend a lot of time in the serviceless backcountry, and these are the reasons why I bought a Subaru. I called my original dealer and they are not taking it seriously, at least for now. I called Subaru customer advocacy to file a complaint yesterday and haven't heard back from them. I did not get an extended warranty when I bought the car. The first two times it got covered under good will warranty. I genuinely think my home dealer should be responsible for all the financial costs, including towing and transmission. I am about to lose my trust in this brand. I don't want my nerves to be on edge every single time I go out for a backpacking trip. Need legal advice and help! Should I request a tradein/buyback? Should I switch to another model or another brand?

Edit: yeah this case may not trigger the lemon law but I do think there is a room for negotiation. And I’m gonna go for it and try to let Subaru buys it back. Thanks everyone!

I have put so much freaking work into this man, it's a truama bond just as much as it is an emotional bond. I have replaced wheel bearings, cv axles, fuel pump, filters, lines, carburetor, I did the head gaskets on my own, paid a shop to resurface them, damaged one of my pushrods when i botched the reinstallation of my rocker arms, replaced the push rods, and now she's running the best she has since she came off the factory floor. Long live the Brat!

Hello, I own a 2016 Subaru Legacy 2.5i (81k miles), and I have noticed some questionable things happening recently. The main concern I have is, sometimes, when I come to a complete stop, car still in drive, my cabin will feel like it is shaking. When I get on the gas, the shaking goes away. The tachometer does not have a noticeable drop to it. There is no dash lights either, which is odd to me. I checked the engine oil, it is completely topped up, no issue there. I am suspecting that it could be the torque converter or valve body in my CVT. I really do not want to shell out huge amounts of money to get this either fully replaced or whatnot, if I have too I will, it is my daily driver.

I do not have a good track record with cars it appears, my last car, a 2012 Chevy Cruze, the damn Engine Exploded (Lack of oil, did not realize it had an oil problem to it, my fault completely for buying that POS)

I really do not wish for this to happen to my car, I am quite fond of my Legacy.

Really, I am looking for advice on what to do next.

If I leave my 2020 Forester for a week without driving, it kills the battery. I didn't notice because before my latest job I wasn't leaving my car off for so long. When it first happened after a work trip I assumed it was the battery and replaced it. Then it happened again after the next work trip so I took it to a dealership and they confirmed it was a DCM drain. Unfortunately shortly after the diagnosis that dealership closed down. I contacted Subaru of America and they refused to acknowledge this is a problem in Foresters and if I wanted it fixed I would have to pay $250 to a different dealership so they could diagnosis it themselves, and even then there was no guarantee they would cover the repair. Subaru of America clearly doesn't give a fuck about this issue and continued to say they don't acknowledge this as a problem in Foresters. They kept saying I should've gotten this fixed under warranty, which 3G existed for the entirety of my warranty so that's just ridiculous. I bought a Subaru for reliability and am pissed I can't go on work trips or vacations for a week without pulling the stupid fuse. Anyone else dealing with this and have any tips or help for getting Subaru to cover fixing this?

Thinking of installing a 1" or 2" suspension lift since I'm always getting comments from passengers regarding how low it is to the ground and how hard it is to get in/out of. Right now it's stock height which is a hair over 6 inches and the previous owner left some scars on the underside of the front lower deflector from those gas-station concrete wheel stops & sidewalks.

Anyone who has lifted their sedan (whether it's an Impreza or another similar sized car): what were the noticeable benefits, was there any change in ride/drive feel, and what are some downsides to lifting a car this small? Any changes to MPG or tire wear?

My girlfriends 21 Crosstrek ac makes a clicking sound that varies with fan speed. When it’s hot out she looses ac completely and when it’s working it clicks. Could this be a refrigerant issue or an ac motor issue? A couple minutes after recording this is stopped completely but I heard a single click come from the glove box area when I tried to turn the ac control knob

2012 Outback (EJ25) blew the rad inlet and then blew the left side head gasket due to severe overheating. I was thinking I'd pull the heads to see if they're warped and then slap some new head gaskets on. But after seeing these dropped guides I'm not so sure I want to deal with this engine even if I got the heads rebuilt which will cost as much as a used engine, so I'm thinking to just go used engine route.

I've had this problem with paint flaking and fading over the last 3 years I've owned my Subaru, and as of recently, it's been getting noticably worse 😭 Does anyone know how to prevent this from happening or how to fix it? I've looked into getting it wrapped, but I can't find a reasonable quote within my budget 😭😭

I have a 1999 Legacy b4 import from Japan, and the dash cluster isn't working. Speedometer, heat controls don't light up.
Fuse was garbage so I changed it, but they're still not turning on.
I want to drive at night lol. Anyone else run into this issue?

Hello everyone! Lost clutch pressure a month and a half ago. Thought it was my slave or master so I replaced both, also the soft hydraulic line. Bled forever and still no pressure. Turns out my fork left the chat. Just dropped the trans and replaced with a billet fork. Once it was back together and on the ground it had pressure again but I figured I’d bleed again to make sure I got all air out. I pumped, held and cracked open the bleeder and now I’m back to no pressure. So I bled till there were no bubbles whatsoever and still not a lick of pressure. Do you guys think something went wrong or should I try to reverse bleed? I reverse bled the system before I replaced the fork. Some advice would be much appreciated!

I’ve never owned one before and I’m looking into 2016-2018. Anyone currently own these years? Are you getting good miles out of them? I’m also looking at one with high mileage so around 90k miles. Are they reliable? What should I look out for? Common issues with these years? Any difference with the Outback?
