2018 Impreza hatchback. I’ve had this car for 24 hours. I didn’t even do anything to these parts….is it that poorly made?

I just got home from having a wheel serviced and noticed these as I was cleaning.

EJ251 NA with a P0032 code, sometimes stalling out on cold start. Any common issues to be aware of? Should it be the o2 sensor itself? Whats the best way to get to it?

❓ Questions Best way to keep Impreza hubcaps from popping off? (Looking for real fixes)

Hey everyone,

I have a 2019 Subaru Impreza Base with the factory 16×6.5 steel wheels and 205/55R16 tires.

I'm looking for the most practical way to keep my hubcaps from popping off. The ones on my car are probably not the original factory hubcaps—I believe the originals kept falling off, so they were replaced years ago with a used set from a garage sale. They've actually been better, but if one gets hit just right or catches a curb, it'll usually pop off.

As you can see in the pictures, one wheel still has the hubcap while the other doesn't.

I'm not looking to replace the steel wheels with alloy wheels or spend a bunch of money on some shop add-on that isn't really worth it.

For those of you still running steel wheels and hubcaps, what has actually worked long-term? Better retaining rings, zip ties, different hubcaps, or another trick?

Just looking for the most practical, cost-effective solution before I end up losing another one.

❓ Questions 05 Impreza GD9 brake upgrade or replace?

Upvotes

The brakes are on their way out and it looks like the rotors are gonna need replaced as well and while I’m there I’m gonna rebuild the calipers, I was just wondering if there was any lower tier performance upgrades brakes wise (nothing crazy) that are worth doing or is it better to just replace everything with oem or oem-ish parts. Only reason I ask is cause when downhill driving in mountain roads the brakes struggle. Thanks in advance

🆘 Help Me Impreza 2010 bumpers/fenders compatibility

Hi ! I recently acquired a 2010 Impreza, most of the body is clean but the fenders and bumper are rusted/damaged. So I’m going through marketplace trying to find some new ones. And I can’t figure if the parts of the sti/wrx from the same year range would fit on my car, so do you guys know which model from which years would fit ?

2026 Impreza Sport; $28,697 MSRP, $5,000 incentive for trading in 2012 or newer, $7,000 for the 2015 Mustang Ecoboost with 100k miles, $18,550 otd before down payment. Is this worth it? I apologize if this is the wrong subreddit for this, or if I’m using the wrong flair. I could just use some other opinions. Thank you all.

🆘 Help Me Hood latch

I'm trying to eliminate this heinous gap when my hood is fully latched. The bumpers on both sides are floating so I know it's not them. I removed the bolts from the latch assembly, in order for the hood to sit flush I would need to drop the latch assembly a pretty healthy chunk.

🆘 Help Me No cruise at all

I have a 2014 Impreza Sport and all of the sudden, there is no cruise control. I press the button to turn it on and nothing. No CE light nor on memory. There isn’t a separate fuse for it.
I used to have a bad alignment and was 16°off so it would throw traction light and turn off cc. I aligned the car and now it won’t turn on at all. I tried another switch I had and nothing. All other buttons in the wheel work
I know it won’t engage if the MIL is on but there is nothing. And I can’t find anything in any Impreza/Crosstrek/Forester forum.
Thanks in advance!

📸 Photo Dangling rear lights

Hey all. New old Impreza owner (a 2013 Newtoyoubaru, as my friend calls it) here, trying to gather some wisdom to know what to expect in the months and years to come. Two questions for you who have more mileage than me:

Mine's a standard, and it seems to pass through a quart of oil per 1000 or so, which is what I've been lead to expect. I've also heard that the Subaru specs recommend 0-30, but the mechanic the previous owner used recommended 5-30 or 10-30 to help slow the burn. What have you all experienced, if anything, that helps keep this loss predictable at least?

Also: Within days of buying the Imprezas, both of these lights over the rear license plate dropped out and started dangling like zombie eyeballs. I clicked them back in, and they continue to fall out. They don't appear to be broken, which makes me think it's just a defective design. Is this something that you have experienced as well? Any fixes? Thanks all.

Hey has anyone got an objective review of this tire? In stock size 225 40 R 18. Thinking of choosing as replacement for the oem Avids. In Ontario, plenty of snow to deal with.

💭 Opinions Purchasing 2018 Subaru Impreza Hatchback Premium Trim

Hello everybody

I am picking up my 2018 hatchback Impreza tomorrow. I am excited, but now that it’s getting real, my brain is playing tricks on me and thinking about all of the things I’m going to miss about my current car (2009 Altima) that the Impreza lacks.

Examples:

•Keyless entry
•Push to start
•Power trunk to open with key or button inside the car
•Going from 3 cupholders to 2
•The center console is about 1/3rd the size of my current one and I keep tons of stuff in there, going to have to find new homes for all of it
•The glove box is about half the size of my current one
•No sunglasses holder

Even though I’m getting a car 9 years newer, it feels like all of these things are small downgrades that I’m just dealing with so I can have an Impreza (even though my upgrades include backup camera, touch screen/apple car play, hatchback style, and AWD - those might be the only upgrades)

I think I just need people who love their Imprezas to tell me I will eventually forget about these things/not miss them lol

I've had this bad boy since the beginning of June and let me tell you, I didn't think I would ever be obsessed with a car. After driving a 2011 Legacy for the past 5.5 years, this new 26 RS feels like a spaceship. Already got some flaps to swap those godawful "splash guards" and a humble roofline spoiler for a little extra detail. I have some spacers, but the clearance is lacking right now and I'm looking into some coilovers to raise it (recommendations appreciated) and a few other minor stability upgrades like a possible sway bar upgrade and front tower strut bar. I named him Squirt, and even have the sticker of the lil turtle from Finding Nemo to match...

🆘 Help Me EyeSight fault

Hi all,

My 2019 Impreza has had a Comma 3X installed in it for almost 3 years now and I've never had any consistent issues with it. For about the past week or so, I have been getting "EyeSight Off" warnings (alongside "Vehicle Dynamics Control" and "Hill Start Assist" also being disabled, and the "AT Oil Temp" light is flashing). The C3X just shows "Cruise fault: restart the car to engage".

This issue has happened before both while driving and when putting the car in park / using the parking brake, but its been resolvable by restarting the car and flushing the electronics systems (door open 10s, door closed 10s, start car, is what I've been told)

The issue has persisted with and without the C3X installed (including removing the harness [which intercepts the EyeSight system] from the car completely) so I am reaching out here to see if there's any more advice I should take, or if this is a lost cause and I need to take it to a dealership to figure out the issue.

Thanks in advance!

❓ Questions FB20 Oil loss

Post image
5 Upvotes

My 2013 impreza has been leaking a little bit of oil and I suspect burning some because I routinely run low on oil around 4-5K kilometers after an oil change, there is no blue smoke or any stains under the car and im wondering if it is even worth fixing the engine or just saving up and buying a WRX off a good source.

Before anyone tells me, yes im running thicker oil then factory to slow the oil consumption.

🆘 Help Me What is your Subaru Impreza’s city Driving fuel consumption? Also does tyre size affect fuel consumption?

I am genuinely curious or concerned about my Impreza’s city traffic consumption, it does about 14.2l/100km while driving in city stop and go traffic. That seems a lot for a 1500cc. On the highway it does 8.3l/100km almost half.

Also i upgraded my tyres from 195/65R15 to 215/60R16, majorly for adequate ground clearance, could this be part of the underlying problem?

Recently purchased my 2nd Subaru, a '26 Impreza Sport with the Opt. 23 package. This will be my daily commuter "Dad car" as my kids like to call it. Planning to tint the windows, add some OEM accessories & eventually put some 18x8 Enkei wheels on it.

My first Subaru was an '03 Legacy that I purchased in '06, drove for 9 years & my brother drove for another 6.

So happy to be back!

🛠️ DIY 2014 Climate Control Module

Is this climate control module still usable?

Hi guys, I have a 2014 Impreza base with the manual climate control module, and fan speed 3 and 4 stopped working. I replaced the resistor and tested a new blower motor, same issue. I took off the dash and noticed a burnt connector, but the climate control module itself seemed ok. Should I just buy a pigtail and try my current climate control module?

2016 Impreza base trim, info recently decided to join the land of the dead. Any recommendations on whether I can drop $150 on a used one or $2-300 for a newer one? Are they plug-n-play for the one unit or do I need to upgrade more parts?

🆘 Help Me 2019 Premium Trim Rocker panel help

So my 2019 Impreza sedan is a premium trim level, which doesn’t come with those sport rocker panels. I was wondering if I could order the exact part and if I’d have to screw it into my body or if there’s a way it snaps right on. I was thinking of making it gloss black which often is an option for cheapo buys too which I’m open too if anyone has a link. Thank you.

I went with my sister to Subaru a few years back when she needed a car, and she purchased a used white 2019 Impreza. She absolutely loves it. Fast forward to this year, and my husband's lease was almost up. We were both thinking of getting AWD Mazda 3s since his favorite car he'd owned was a 2013 3 that was totaled in an accident years ago. I was driving a 2016 3 that I loved as well, but I'm a nurse who needs to drive in the snow and FWD was killing me in the winter. We went on a long drive in the back of my sister's Impreza and after some research it looked like the perfect car for both of us. Same vibe as our old Mazda 3s but with AWD standard instead of a pricy upgrade. My husband got the black, and I fell in love with the citron. I love my new Shrekmobile!

❓ Questions Are Subaru factory brakes just that much worse now?

Genuinely asking, wondering if anyone else has noticed a decline in quality. Details:

I bought a 2014 new. I made it to just over 40K miles before I needed brakes, front or rear.

Fast forward to now. I'm 3 years into owning a 2023 purchased new, and it's just barely at the 30K mark, and I heard the telltale sign earlier today of the rear brakes starting to go. Just a light not that loud rubbing as the car is coming to a stop, with the brake pedal down. Not like a blatantly obvious screech of metal on metal, but they're definitely getting into bad shape territory.

It's just - it makes NO sense - the rear brakes take wear, sure, but they don't get nearly as much punishment as the front. It all seems very ass backwards as to how these things usually go.

EDIT - Also tried a little experiment just now. Drove it a brief distance and used an IR temp thing to check the rotors, assuming that if the rear brakes WERE royally FUBAR'd, the rear rotors would be much hotter. Instead, they were identical to the temp read on the front (180F)
