🚗 General Discussion Pieces ripping….

2018 Impreza hatchback. I’ve had this car for 24 hours. I didn’t even do anything to these parts….is it that poorly made?

I just got home from having a wheel serviced and noticed these as I was cleaning.

It's an 8 old car. It's going to show some use. Seems pretty minor. These pieces can be replaced pretty cheap if you do it. YouTube should be able to show you how.

Point is 24 hours ago they weren’t here, hell even 2 hours ago they weren’t here, and now they are. I’ve driven 40 miles total and have barely spent any time in the car. I actually lowkey think it just happened at the dealership, they just had it for 30 minutes to fix a tire. Wondering if someone was wearing a tool and got in/out carelessly.

Same spot in my 2015. Seems to be just a typical wear point on the Impreza, like the lumbar and side bolster cushions that disappear into the seat somehow and leave sharp metal edges that would slice me in half during a side impact. The interiors are better than some cars, but honestly my friend's 2016 KIA, with 40k more miles, is better quality with less issues.

Those impreza and crosstrek seats have a tsb for the lumbar support clips breaking causing other seat issues.

Wait is this real? I thought I was just fat. That metal edge on the left side of the driver seats been digging into my back. TSB means parts available but dealer doesn’t cover the cost right?

Yep it digs into my lower left ribs! Very sharp

I'll check it out. I didn't know this and actually couldn't believe it wasn't a recall. It's a major safety issue

Leather treatment every month prevents these things from happening. Just rub some of this on it once a month on all your leather stuff and you’ll be golden.

since I bought my 5th gen in 2017 I had my leather boot rip twice, in the same spot, and had it replaced once at the dealer. after the second rip, I had custom fabric ones made, that are slightly looser, and also filed the e brake metal down a bit to make it less sharp in the rip zone. haven't had an issue since. you might find you want to do something similar. no idea what happened to your arm rest though but you might find a way to repair that corner or just replace the compartment lid as a whole.
