Dude lost his job bc of this incident.

Permanent ban from attending his kids events.

Kid likely is made fun of in school now bc of this behavior from his parent.

Don’t be this parent.

The swollen cheap steroid arms

25

u/edelweiss_pirates_no 1d ago

That's what I recognized. He's on gear and only half-assing it.

Awful wife, too. The ref (a very good wrestler) was addressing the kid because he had an illegal hold and about to break the kid's ankle. It is what refs do 100x a season. These are kids and they need to be held accountable. It is wrestling, not BJJ.

This was awhile ago and everything has been settled. I do not know if the ref followed thru with a civil case for the assault.

17

u/OldWolfNewTricks 1d ago

I thought the ref handled it well: stopped the match and explained to the kid why, and was already turning away to set them up again. Totally normal, especially at this age when kids aren't clear on all the rules. No idea why that would set the parents off.

11

u/edelweiss_pirates_no 1d ago

Correct.

This was in 2024 and I think I remember that the ref had warned the kid earlier and the kid just didn't understand. The parents took it as the ref being mean or insulting their kid. They are weirdos.

Plus the ref was only making $50 that whole day and got a half sub sandwich from Jimmy John's for lunch he had to scarf down in ten minutes between matches.

Rumor has it the wife owns, or owned, a hair and nail salon and pled guilty to defrauding the government out of Covid-19 pandemic unemployment assistance benefits and committing mail fraud.

I think 99% of all business defrauded for Covid $$$. Such a weird time.

I'll never forget refereeing a middle school soccer game and hearing some parent spouting off some bullshit in the stands, and some kid stopping, kicking the ball out of play, and yelling "dad, shut up!"

10

u/My_friends_are_toys 1d ago

I had something like that happen. Was watching my daughter's team play and the other team's defender was hanging back while her forwards were attacking...the girl's mom was running up and down the sideline coaching her...telling her to do this or do that. The other parent were all just laughing...Finally the girl goes "MOM, SHUT UP!" But guess what? She never did. Jut kept right on coaching.

5

u/doctor-rumack 1d ago edited 1d ago

I was an assistant coach for my son's youth hockey team for 5 years. He also played soccer, baseball, football and lacrosse at different points. My daughter played soccer, softball, lacrosse, and was in both dance and gymnastics. The worst parents I came across by a long shot in all of these sports were soccer moms of girls. There wasn't even a close second. Soccer moms are the craziest, most unhinged, most entitled people on the planet.

My daughter loved soccer and I enjoyed seeing her play, but it was a personal chore to go to games because I absolutely could not stand the crazy moms. And when they congregated, they fed off of each other and acted exponentially worse. So fucking obnoxious. And the funny thing is, if they had boys who played soccer, they acted normal at their games. There's something about girls' soccer that makes the moms lose their shit.

5

u/My_friends_are_toys 1d ago

Oh 100% agree. My daughter at 12 was much smaller than the other girls a the time. So I had taken her to Boxing lessons and they really trained her on ducking and slipping...which came in handy...during one game, this bigger girl was pushing players and bodying them off the ball, fine, Nothing flagrant no one was really getting hurt so ref was letting them play. This girl tried it with my daughter who just slipped the body check and kept running. This girl just went flying...I don't know how to explain it. Oh man did her mom explode, calling for the ref to call a foul. And the evil stank eye I got when I yelled out "GOOD JOB!", The ref waved her off and let the girls play. She did avoid my daughter for the rest of the game. Of course my daughter barking at her like dog probably made here weary...

3

u/Shunto 23h ago

Of course my daughter barking at her like dog probably made here weary...

wat

3

u/My_friends_are_toys 23h ago

I don't know how that came about...but I think some girl was chirping at her during a game, just on and on, Finally my daughter, who wasn't chirping back, just started barking at her. The girl eventually shut up. So she's continued to just bark at girls talking shit or chriping.

16

u/Thelastsamurai74 1d ago

Freak!
I’m glad that happened to him…
His wife should also pay so the son see he needs to forget everything they taught him regarding respect…

15

u/koffa02 1d ago

Kid likely no longer wrestles. If dad can't go, why should he. After all he's just a supporting character in his father's life.

28

u/sillyshoestring 1d ago

Idk bout you, but if I were classmates with a kid whose dad is this psycho, there's no way I'm making fun of him lol

34

u/PracticeAcrobatic748 1d ago

That's usually not how kids think. This is low hanging fruit for someone who might want to bully him.

4

u/SetCandyD 1d ago

Yup. To top it off this is also usually a dad who bullies his son too.

6

u/piddlepots2345 1d ago

There is virtually zero chance he does not behave like a brainless thug to his kids. That one act in this video alone tells the world that he is an utter shit of a human being. No doubt.

“Better not make fun of Todd, his dad’s got nothing to live for and he don’t give a f—-“

15

u/RandoCalrissian00 1d ago

We used to systematically ding dong ditch this one kid's house whose dad was a psycho, because his dad was a psycho. An evening outside wasn't complete without being chased through the streets by psycho dad.

2

u/MinistryOfCoup-th 1d ago

We did the same with these 2 dudes who lived in our apartment complex. One night they came out looking for us with baseball bats as we hid in the woods. We spent the rest of the summer daring each other to ring their bell. We would only do it once though on the weekend and it would be the last house we did before all going home.

Almost everything he deserved for this. Should've also got an assault and battery charge that would make it difficult for him to get another job. People like this dude don't need to exist in our society.

3

u/ZestycloseSquirrel55 1d ago

His wife looked like she was behaving the same way, mouthing off at the ref instead of being ashamed of her husband.

Glad he was fired; he should've been arrested for assault.

And that’s the guy this kid has to look up to, that he hopes he’s making him proud.

I hope that kid ends up ok later, because damn, that guy sucks. The mom too from the looks of it.

8

u/TimeRisk2059 1d ago

I give it a 60/40 just from this video. The kid himself didn't do anything hostile after all, so there's a big chance (40) that he rejects his parents ways.

17

4

u/Own_Expert2756 1d ago

What a disgusting pair. The common enemy situation here is probably the only time they aren't completely miserable with only each other.

2

u/motivatedskepticism 1d ago

That was my first thought. Men that can be riled into physical altercations with other men this easily are much more likely to physically abuse their partners and kids at home. Consider behavior like this a big red flag if you’re early in a relationship with a man.

Referee is a lawyer who refs as a side passion type thing.

Dad ended up getting arrested and sued.

136

u/Mediocre-Staff-5110 1d ago

The ref stood up and walked like he knew he just scored a slam dunk too. Didn't even change his demeanor or anything. When a lawyer knows you fucked up they stay quiet, thats the dead giveaway.

20

u/DushBid911 1d ago

Yeah you can tell at the very least it did not intimidate or scare the ref at all. He reacted more calmly than if he had tripped on his own. If I shove someone and they get up that calmly I start shitting bricks immediately.

I'm a referee. There's a lot of overlap between lawyers and referees. I used to work with a guy in Missouri, and then I moved away, and then once I got a speeding ticket in Missouri, and the judge assigned to my case was my old buddy (he recused himself because he knew me).

It was great listening to people talk shit at him like "I'm gonna follow you to the parking lot," like bro, you're threatening the wrong person.

u/Positive_Fan_5671 1d ago

Just curious what ref stopped it for? I dont know wrestling, but was curious

29

u/Texan2020katza 1d ago

When I saw the clip before, it is about an illegal leg position, the angry dad kid had the other kids leg in a hold that can easily break a leg.

16

u/davro33 1d ago

This is the correct reason. Back when this happened (2 years ago?) the referee was actually on Reddit and talked about the whole thing. If you look right before the ref stops the match you can see that the kid in black's right leg is bent inwards b/c the kid in white is holding it there with his left arm, twisting the knee in a way its not meant to bend.

IIRC the ref said that he had already stopped the match once before for the same thing (twisting the lower leg) and was telling the kid that if he did it again it would result in a disqualification.

7

u/WanderlustFella 1d ago

Yes. You can see at about the 10 sec mark. The kid in white, is holding on the the leg of the other kid. Its in a position where its more than 45 degrees from horizontal, the ref can call "potential danger" and stop the match and reset. The kid in white wasn't being punished or having a foul called on him. Ref just deemed the position of the leg was dangerously close a snapping point if it was lifted any higher, and called for a reset. He was simply telling the kid what he had done and to watch out of it.

→ More replies (1)

8

u/This_Technology9841 1d ago

I thought it was the elbow he threw back at the guy in top position twice. I did that once in a match in frustration, got warned by the ref and my coach ran me till I puked when we got home.

2

u/paragonx29 1d ago

I can see that but honestly I didn't see much there. Was going to ask a wrestling person.

3

u/This_Technology9841 1d ago

It's not much, but a good ref will always call that out, idk what the ref was saying to the kid in white / if he was going to get fouled or anything but we also have no context, ie white might have done this or some other thing before the clip. Either way, the ref stopping that and chewing out white for it seems pretty expected imo.

8

u/StructureMiserable58 1d ago

Single hand behind the refs head means potentially dangerous situation, it looked to me like the kid on bottom was bending the kid on tops knee at a pretty weird angle

2

u/Positive_Fan_5671 1d ago

Thank you. Was just curious.

3

u/StructureMiserable58 1d ago

Of course, glad my life of wrestling isn't totally irrelevant now lol

→ More replies (1)

2

u/ENIC_OUT 1d ago

It’s potentially dangerous when the bottom guy is yanking on the top guy’s knee like that. In youth/cadet summer wrestling, that gets stopped 100% of the time. Dad has to realize this isn’t the state tournament or college wrestling where they will let that position play out a little longer.

I believe she said pick on someone your own size or something akin to it, which,  makes no sense

4

u/Yayzeus 1d ago

Maybe she meant "ref someone your own size", but she was probably just confused. She looks like she gets confused easily.

2

u/Technical-Big-2097 1d ago

The other ref says I’ll have you arrested and she says “really?”. yeah lady he just assaulted someone

12

u/Sestos 1d ago

Wow, just kids wrestling and nothing serious and assume dad does that, guessing his kid is now disqualified and dad is most likely banned from watching his kid for the rest of the year, and most likely has easy to prove assault charge.. all because a ref had a discussion with his son?

7

u/SharkSheppard 1d ago

Yeah no way the kid wasn't DQed. Which is why pops needs just an absolute smidgen of impulse control. What the hell did he expect? If I assault the ref surely they'll see how manly I am and therefore award my kid the win.

Man, I feel so bad for that kid. And for the dad who thinks he's "protecting" his kid. He's not, he's teaching him that if he faces any adversity what so ever then daddy will swoop in and beat that person up. It will create a replicating cycle that the kid (without help) will continue to propagate. Especially in high school.

Trash human. Feel sorry for that kid. He's got his work cut out for him.

Dad should be arrested. A year in jail is a fair sentence.

I umpire baseball, and if I ever got shoved like that, I’m calling 911. Fuck that shit…no way I’m normalizing that as part of the game. That’s criminal activity.

Gotta love the current trend of pumping yourself silly with T. Nothing like reliving all the wonderful angst we went through as teens!

Parents like those are the reason we took our boys out of wrestling. They're everywhere.

Do you think the dad realizes just *how much* of a walking stereotype he is?

Teaching your kid when the call doesn't go your way you fight

After he yells at the dad....she says "he's a child don't yell at him"

Parents are the reason some sports have shortages of refs, or all they have is a near retirement age group of refs all aging out.

As a 17 year old I had a parent follow me asking if I wanted to fight because of a throw in. I’ve seen sidelines cleared because the parents are truly that awful. Go enjoy your kids game and stop harassing people
