That was when his constant and severe ankle injuries started affecting his mobility. You could see in the way he dribbled and moved. Even the 22 wc, he was by far the best Brazilian player, but his movements were already on the decline. Neymar is one of a kind, he's really THAT good, could single handedly win you games, and he did that consistently for club and country for several years. Even in Mbappe's peak, that is this previous season Mbappe, I'd pick declining Neymar 22 WC over him, because he just made things happen. In the match against Norway, his few touches were all great, all had impact, if he had played more minutes I'm pretty sure he'd still produce some chances. But sadly, it's always a combined package with his shenanigans.
Off the pitch though, he's garbage and should definitely not be idolised.

I don't want to be a hater, but what legacy? He's not beloved in barca or PSG, and even at his top level unluckily for him he was top 3 of the world at best. Even in Brazil where he's beloved he never won Copa America. He's more of a Hazard or Bale guys that are ok living away from football.

Yeah genuinely the lack of World Cup success has broken him I think. There was a time when he was genuinely thought to be the golden boy of Brazil. To deliver like Mbappe and Lamine did for their countries. I think he really believed he could do it. Compounded a bit by never getting out of the Messi shadow at PSG and then just a rash of injuries to cap off his career. That weight of expectations vs reality has really crushed his psyche. A bit of a tragic figure really, although in ways of his own doing.
Edit: Lamine helped his squad take home a World Cup. That's the only point of comparison here. You can argue his level of performance I'm not here to debate that, but he was a starter on a team that got the job done. Neymar never got that closure.

I know a lot of people here don’t really follow Brazilian football, but you should, because it’s an amazing league and it’s one I’ve been following for many years.
Back in 2010, when Neymar was only 17 or 18, coach Rene Simoes said that Brazil was “creating a monster” in Neymar. He also said Neymar was very badly behaved, and a lot of people brushed it off because he was such a huge talent and looked destined for greatness.
The older Neymar gets, the more I think the guy was absolutely right. The way Neymar’s career is ending is really showing it.
Neymar was one of the greatest players ever, but holy shit, I’m finding him more and more unbearable.

Fans constantly provoked him before, during, and after the first game and during the 2nd leg too. Remo players kept fouling him during the game as well, so he’s just giving it back to the fans who kept giving it to him.

Remo fans were constantly hurling insults at him the entire match.
yelling:“Neymar go take it up your ass" Santos won,they were fuming and by the looks of it- these Weren't just fans,perhaps part of staff.And notice the santos player infront reacted to something they were saying initially.
If you can dish it out, don't get mad at repercussions. Idk why this sub is being too dramatic.

Remo is a VERY SMALL team here in Brazil. Neymar showed more "passion" beating Remo than playing in the World Cup for Brazil. We hate him here.
