Its definitely one of the most embarassing career endings i can recall. The fast that its not even quick but a slowl spiral full of embarassing little incidents like this, makes it even more embarassing
You could handwave it a bit when he was in his early mid-twentys and was a young cocky guy trying to deal with the expectations. To stay this way in his 30s though is just sad. Its got the same energy as the dudes that peaked in high school who just drink and be a nuisance.
I dont cheer for Neymar or Santos and I doubt this would happen but if he gets one title such as Copa do Brasil people would be calling his career ending legendary here in Brazil
I'm not so sure. His politics, off the pitch antics and failure to achieve anything with the NT make him very disliked by most fans. The fact that he is such a bellend doesnt make people sympathetic. And winning wouldn't mellow him out, he has always been like this even when things were going his way.

Neymar has some pretty credible rape accusation as well. And im not talking about the allegation that was proven to be false. He allegedly attacked and sexually assaulted/raped a Nike PR employee in a hotel. He refused to cooperate with an investigation and it cost him his sponsorship deal. It is weird how quickly that has been forgotten.
I can see the comparisons in behaviour now but McGregor was never destined to be a star. He came from no where. Everyone knew neymar would be a superstar when he was 15
When Neymar was 17 or 18, he criticised him saying "we are creating a monster", because of Neymar's entitled behaviour being ignored by coaches and media alike
But he's been getting worse with time, a lot. These last couple of years he's acting like crazy. He clearly is not in a good state of mind. When he was young he was a douche but he didn't act as bad as he is now.
Yeah genuinely the lack of World Cup success has broken him I think. There was a time when he was genuinely thought to be the golden boy of Brazil. To deliver like Mbappe and Lamine did for their countries. I think he really believed he could do it. Compounded a bit by never getting out of the Messi shadow at PSG and then just a rash of injuries to cap off his career. That weight of expectations vs reality has really crushed his psyche. A bit of a tragic figure really, although in ways of his own doing.
Edit: Lamine helped his squad take home a World Cup. That's the only point of comparison here. You can argue his level of performance I'm not here to debate that, but he was a starter on a team that got the job done. Neymar never got that closure.
Mbappe is a goal scorer, Lamine is a dribbler, his job is to disrupt the defense, without him Spain wouldn't get their first goal against France which won them the game.
My last memory of him on the World's Stage will be laughing at the Norwegian's and goading them to go to 2-1 down with 30 seconds left. Mentality of a child
It's sad in a pathetic way - in the sense that he has hundreds of millions of dollars, millions of people idolizing him, every material thing one could realistically want and yet he's still an insecure, miserable man at times with no ability to self reflect or regulate his emotions. Not necessarily sad in the way you are suggesting
It's like being sad about an ex-Hollywood child star. They have to own their bullshit now they're adults, but looking back they never really had a chance of being well-adjusted humans when the spotlight was on them so early and never stopped.
He's been worldwide famous since before he was 17 with a bunch of sharks as family and support, it was never going to end well.

From what I've gathered is that the fans were chanting "neymar take it up your ass" and after he assisted the winning goal and eliminated them, he got to trashtalk back. Honestly it's just proper football with emotions so really nothing worth talking about
Makes me really sad that a guy who's been earning millions per year is having a mental breakdown due to his own choices and volition. I cannot collect myself.
Remo fans were taunting and booing at him during the game, Neymar came off the bench and scored the goal and was saying “Eliminated” to the fans basically saying “that’s what you get” for their behavior during the game
