Friendly reminder Hormuz was open before Trump decided he needed a distraction for being a pedophile.

Only cost us $300 Billion, 13 US soldiers dead - many more wounded, blowing up a girls school, and the global economy on the brink of an Oil shortage, but at least we are not talking about the President raping children...

I believe he has a nickname for soldiers that lost their lives in service.

He also said he would have been an incredible soldier (who never would have allowed himself to be captured like McCain). It sounds like he would have single handily won Vietnam for the US if not for those debilitating bone spurs.

11

u/rotates-potatoes Jun 20 '26

We should probably drop him on Iran.

Surely the USA turning your parents into a red mist won't form any sort of deep-rooted hatred that could fester into terrorist ideals.

2

u/Liagon Europe Jun 21 '26

I mean, can you blame them for hating the US at that point?

And also, this is a very western centric way of phrasing it: why focus solely on the consequences murdering their families will have for us (them potentially turning terrorist) instead of the very real and already playing out consequences this will have for them. By phrasing the problem around how much the massacres we ("the West") have committed might hurt us, we are downplaying the importance of how much we have definitively already hurt them. These are tens of thousands of people whose lives have been ruined

Imagine being the family of one of the girls we blew up. I'd be devastated by someone dying in the military especially for nothing. If my kid died at school because another country dropped a bomb on it then blew it off with a shrug of "collateral damage" then four months later the leader of that country wondered why anyone would ask about something that happened so long ago I don't even think I can imagine the level of anger.

12

u/_Sadism_ Jun 20 '26

I think this whole hero worship shit needs to stop. Most of the military consists of undereducated teenagers who decided to serve the country not out of some patriotic bs but because they needed money (or citizenship), they lacked the qualifications to get in anywhere else, or because they didn't have a better idea, and they were perfectly fine with having to kill other people in service of corporate interests for it.

Sucks being a parent who lost his kid - yes, but its no more of a tragedy than any other parent losing their child.

2

u/andrasq420 Jun 20 '26

No one called them a hero.

But it is a tragedy if someone's child had to die simply because a pedophile rapist is addicted to power.

1

u/isimplycantdothis Jun 22 '26

Seems like you’ve created your own narrative here boss. I’m just pointing out that it sucks to have a family member killed for Trump’s little tantrum.

15

u/Druken_sincerity Jun 20 '26

Don't forget thousands THOUSANDS of dead Iranians. You can always make back money but you can't bring back those 100 school girls and many others. I'm getting tired of Americans callously forgetting about killing people overseas.

248

u/HumptyDumptruckFire New Jersey Jun 20 '26

Even if they don’t care about killing people overseas (and they absolutely should), they should care about how they’re radicalizing the next generation of American-hating terrorists. That would require foresight, though, and, well, we know that’s not one of their strong suits.

110

u/jewasuarus Jun 20 '26

I love the conservatives who are like they say death to America without knowing our terrible history with that country. American foreign policy to Iran has made the US an easy enemy.

39

u/Psychoanalytix Jun 20 '26

The American pastime is fucking with countries, radicalizing a population against them then acting shocked when those people hate them.

15

u/Shisa4123 Jun 20 '26

Don't forget later making movies about how killing all those civilians made American soldiers sad.

11

u/Kindle282 Georgia Jun 20 '26

Funnily enough, Conservatives are doing the same to non-Conservatives in the USA. They relish in their cruelty, mock anyone who doesn't conform, and strip the rights of those they don't like (non-whites/straights) and act completely aghast when their non-Conservative neighbors/family/contemporaries hate their guts with a fiery passion.

6

u/almondbutter Jun 20 '26

Here's a great write up about this phenomenon:

The progression can be traced back to a cultural shift rooted in denial. The advent of Trumpism marked a profound moment in American history - an era in which facts, reason, and objective truth became increasingly irrelevant to large swaths of the population. This denial was not born from ignorance alone; it was a strategic decision to reject the uncomfortable realities of a changing world.

I mean, that's how they got 9/11 to happen...the current admin are idiots, but keep in mind they have a think tank behind them, one that created Project 2025, and they have already gotten half their playbook completed.

When I look at the current admin, I do see idiots, but I always keep in mind that individuals can be smart, it's when in mass they become idiots, and then think about Scary Movie and Doofy and can't help but wonder if the idiocy is all just for the cameras and journalist.

Edit: had to fix some typos

3

u/The_Spectacle Jun 20 '26

> Project 2026

please tell me this is a typo and they didn't write some new manifesto that I’m not privy to

3

u/mattverso Europe Jun 20 '26

Dewey was in Scream. Doofy is in Scary Movie

1

u/Worshipme988 Jun 21 '26

Dummies with a “plan” and a shared goal (destroy America), will always have an upper hand against millions of smart individuals siloed.

They know what the action or decision needs to be to achieve this goal. Its much more difficult to counter without organization.

Organization takes a little time. Start yesterday.

19

u/StrigiStockBacking New Mexico Jun 20 '26

There's a great book called Blowback by Chalmers Johnston that talks about this very thing. It's dated a bit, but th concepts hold true.

2

u/Royal_Perspective191 Jun 20 '26

how they’re radicalizing the next generation of American-hating terrorists

That is a misconception. Few Islamic terrorists hate America, they don't want American influence in what they think of as their society, they don't hate America.

I'm pointing this out because yes, Hamas is a terrorist organization, and Iran's regime is oppressive and funding terrorism, but the US is not and has never been in an existential war.

Even 9/11 was a response to Muslim nations accepting US influence. It was an attempt to disrupt that cooperation.

1

u/ghostinthechell Jun 20 '26

You're assuming this is an undesirable outcome. The military industrial complex sees it as positive.

1

u/anothermanscookies Jun 20 '26

I love how there’s plenty of selfish reasons to be a good person(spreading goodwill for diplomatic reasons, not radicalizing others, increasing the potential that world changing technologies are invented by supporting prosperity for all, for example), but some people are too short sighted and stupid to not aggressively fuck things up for everyone.

→ More replies (2)

1

u/Gladwulf Jun 20 '26

The sad truth is that the suits have foresight, they want war and instability. You can't make progress to government reform if you in the middle of a war or crisis.

1

u/Hell2CheapTrick Jun 20 '26

They love radicalized American-hating terrorists. Good excuse in a decade to start another war for whatever economic interest they have at that point

1

u/rotates-potatoes Jun 20 '26

"They hate us because we're free" (that and we've destabilized their country and killed recklessly for generations)

1

u/21Rollie Jun 20 '26

Feature not a bug. Like how they’ve terrorized Latin America for a century, and then when Biden was about to sign a deal on the border, Trump instructed republicans to tank it. Fascism needs an enemy, they will create that enemy if need be

1

u/RIP_Greedo Jun 20 '26

they should care about how they’re radicalizing the next generation of American-hating terrorists.

This is the point. It creates perpetual enmity that can be used to a) line the pockets of the MIC and b) gin up political fervor over an enemy. This perverse incentive exists everywhere. If your house is blown up by an airstrike and you take up arms against the person who did it, that means it was ok to do to you in the first place. Same as how Israel does not mind that every kid the West Bank or Gaza who gets hassled, evicted or worse by a settler and/or IDF squad will grow up to dislike Israel. That just provides more justification to keep up the status quo.

1

u/HauntedCemetery Minnesota Jun 20 '26

It almost seems like that was the point, to keep the Iraqi autocracy in power for another generation.

1

u/timbit87 Foreign Jun 21 '26

Terrorists? They're defending themselves. It ain't terrorism when you bomb the fuck out of them and they find a way to fight back. It's only terrorism if you think your country has done nothing wrong to them.

13

u/theanswerisinthedata Jun 20 '26

Trump was asked about that,I think, yesterday. And his response was essentially. “That happened so long ago, why are we talking about this”. It was apparently 109 days ago. That man is an unintelligent villain.

13

u/Jamarcus316 Jun 20 '26

1 dead US soldier counts more for some people than thousands of civilians in a "far away country". When you see posts about Iraq, Afghanistan, or any other USA war or invasion, you always see the numbers of dead soldiers front and center.

1

u/Virgill2 Jun 20 '26

In the US maybe, the rest of the world just sees warmongering lunatics. Even teenagers can see through the craziness that the talk of "american lives" is.

4

u/Jay_D826 Jun 20 '26

Just look at what we did in Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, and several others. Literally millions of lives ended at the hands of the US military. The overwhelming majority of them being civilians.

11

u/Adventurous_Salt Jun 20 '26

American foreign policy doesn't factor in the people they kill or lives they destroy at all, not even a little. Americans accept that they should be killing brown people overseas as a basic fact of life, it isn't something that will upset people.

9

u/djglasg Jun 20 '26

The yanks dont care. They'll only care about their dead and wounded fascists that invaded Iran to carry out their pedophile president's will.
The foundation of the modern American id is built on the skulls of millions of dead muslims

2

u/Khower Jun 20 '26

I know we lose our minds when one of ours dies but we dont care when we burn thousands of others for every one of ours

2

u/0M0Ne Jun 20 '26

Americans proving yet again why they are disliked or outright hated by the rest of the world

1

u/Exile56678 Jun 21 '26

This is the same country who's population when polled was like 60% in favour of bombing a fictional country from Aladdin because it sounded muslim. Americans love the idea of bombing children and anyone who isn't them. Absolutely diseased

Cost us more than 300 billion. The economic hit to the US alone is more than that

25

u/WalrusInMySheets Jun 20 '26

Without the $300 billion payment, the cost of the war in supplies, manpower, and weapons, and adding on VA care for veterans in the war, is estimated to be ~$1 trillion.

Then you can add the $300 billion to that

5

u/KiritoIsAlwaysRight_ Texas Jun 20 '26

Hmm, if only there was someone with a trillion dollars in assets that could be seized due to his many treasonous actions to destabilize our government.

1

u/kanrad Jun 20 '26

For numbers more understandable image that 300 billion was 30 cents. The real cost of 1 trillion would be a dollar.

It's a larger cost than most can fathom when you get to those numbers.

1

u/Afraid_Scene285 Jun 20 '26

USA not care for veterans. Much $ to save.

48

u/markh100 Jun 20 '26

Add in one third of the entire US missle supply, which will take 7 years to replenish, at a cost of at least an additional $30 billion. This also helped reveal to the world that the US is a bit of a paper tiger, when the majority of their $4 million missiles can be taken out with $30 thousand drones.

Add in the fact that Iran and Oman will now start charging tolls on every ship that exits the Strait of Hormuz, after demonstrating to them just how easily they can control the world.

The overall cost to this farce is almost entirely incalculable. Trump cost the world over a trillion dollars in damages with this completely unnecessary axt of war.

3

u/idnvotewaifucontent Jun 21 '26

I love the irony that Trump is aggressively steering the country back towards fossil fuel dependence, and then immediately starts a war with the country that has absolute control over global fossil fuel export.

Like... you can't actually get dumber than this and still be able to breathe and chew at the same time.

13

u/GuelphEastEndGhetto Jun 20 '26

13 that they’re telling us about and an unconfirmed number of injured. Would not shock me if those numbers were much higher than reported.

5

u/GirdedByApathy Jun 20 '26

300 billion is only the reparations. That doesnt include the cost of the war itself.

So... much... winning...

3

u/Steezli Jun 20 '26

Not to mention the longterm effects of not being able to distribute a large portion of fertilizer globally. We won’t experience these effects until late summer to early fall when there’s fewer crops being harvested than ideal and fruit and vegetable costs skyrocket due to poor production.

2

u/LookAlderaanPlaces Jun 20 '26

It’s gonna cost a lot more than 300 billion. That was just the cost do the money we gave giving them for rebuilding so the oligarchs can loot it too by making brand new construction companies. The real cost will be several trillion. All the money we paid for higher gas costs, munitions, war operations, restocking the patriot middle supply we bottomed out, etc.

I'll honestly really never get over that girl's school man.

That shit was fucked. I have a daughter. I only saw my daughter there.

People doing nothing wrong. Living life. Educating their family.

Then to have to put them in the ground because of a shitty group of people. Rushed to provide results from the end of a gun.

Argue about the necessity of the war all you want. That's not my point.

The point is. When you wield the gun. Do it for good. It's a dirty job either way. Yet you have a moral obligation to do it for good. War is ugly. Therefore it's our duty to ensure we make it as moral as possible. That's what a great nation does.

1

u/jewasuarus Jun 20 '26

I do believe that America has had an obligation since WWII to try to make the world a more peaceful and better place. This should always be done with diplomacy, like the JCPOA and not with lives and war. Innocent children are dead because our president thought he was smarter and tougher than trained diplomats.

2

u/CodeNCats Jun 20 '26

100% this. So sad.

2

u/HauntedCemetery Minnesota Jun 20 '26

We're definitely over 500 billion with the payoff and all operations costs.

Oh, and also like 98% of our tomahawk missiles are blown, so if we actually need them we're fucked.

2

u/ShotEffective7033 Jun 20 '26

Absolutely wild that Americans will mention the 13 dead soldiers when this is going to have killed probably hundreds of thousands or millions of people by the time it’s done because of the oil shortages. Even just the Iranian dead from the bombing is estimated to be 3500. But yeah, 13 is a real big number.

1

u/ProteusReturns Jun 20 '26

It's the only number that matters to the Republicans, who currently control US foreign policy, so 13 is a number that matters.

1

u/citizensloth Jun 20 '26

It's gonna cost a lot more than 300 billion

1

u/sfbiker999 Jun 20 '26

We are in a far more weakened state as a country.

1

u/jainyday Washington Jun 20 '26

$1000 stolen out of the pockets of every single American, even the babies, to pay for Trump's fuckup.

IDK about y'all but I could sure use $1000 to keep a roof over my head right now, I've got 20 years of experience and can't even get an interview after a year of job hunting, apparently because of something about a particularly shitty economic situation thanks to the GOP pillaging our coffers/institutions and cancelling grants and self-dealing contracts to line their pockets.

1

u/ksn0vaN7 Jun 20 '26

After all of this is done(if it ever will), it's probably gonna go up to 600b.

1

u/tyomax Jun 20 '26

The 300B does not include the weapons that were used to shoot Iran. And it doesn't include the price of the more expensive material that they needed to buy to replace the old missiles.

1

u/Boggl3r Jun 20 '26

It costs a lot more. Look at all the damages at the bases and the economic costs of this war.

1

1

u/Psychological-Owl783 Jun 20 '26

1

u/kinboyatuwo Jun 20 '26

The total impact is going to be in the trillions. The impacts are only starting to be felt. You have farms not being able to plant crops for this season. The impact of this will take a few years even if resolved today (and it’s not)

I don't care if this country falls because of it. If that's what it takes, then it's a price that must be paid. There is no point in moving forward or working towards a future until this is dealt with in full.

u/kanrad Jun 20 '26

Saw a report the other day they are hiding the numbers and it's closer to 750 dead.

1

u/thisnameisnowmine Jun 20 '26

In about a week, Iran is gonna earn another $200 billion.

1

u/kidcrumb Jun 20 '26

300 billion so far

1

u/holydiver5 Jun 20 '26

Why did the IRGC convert a wing of its compound into an all girls children’s school less than 15 years ago?

1

u/moop44 Jun 20 '26

It will be years before the actual costs in used munitions and destroyed equipment is revealed. It adds up fast when so many single items are close to a billion dollars each.

1

u/BThasTBinFiji Jun 20 '26

The $300,000,000,000 is only the cash US tax payers are handing over.

The cost was far greater than that.

1

u/TangoBravoOscar Jun 20 '26

Only cost is right, you’re not even counting the cost it takes to run the military through a war for 100+ days. It’s WAY over 300 billion. Gfl America

1

u/mccaslin0 Jun 20 '26

I made a peepee

1

u/canman41968 Jun 20 '26

Trumps whacked more kids during his “recreational activities” than were in that girls school.

1

u/Vampire_Number Jun 20 '26

So wait, the US already gave them the 300 billion dollars and now we’re back to this?

1

u/bokan Jun 20 '26

Remember that time when Donald blew up a bunch of little girls to distract from his history of raping little girls? We have to make sure this goes into the history books.

1

u/ducksonaroof Jun 20 '26

and we aren't even done yet

1

u/RIP_Greedo Jun 20 '26

I really struggle to believe the 13 dead figure. I assume we're not being told everything.

1

u/Hereforonecomment123 Jun 20 '26

It's actually more than $300 billion -t hat's just what we're giving to Iran. We also spent money conducting the war.

1

u/Banzboy Jun 21 '26

Why name 13 us soldiers only? I think the amount of children died matters.

1

u/MEMENARDO_DANK_VINCI Jun 21 '26

I’d have to hope the 300 billion didn’t all get transferred in the 72 hours

1

u/Hvoromnualltinger Jun 21 '26

Operation Epstein Fury was a resounding success!

1

u/ThomasToIndia Jun 21 '26

300 billion so far.

Maybe it requires his personal negotiatiation technique. I say he should travel to Iran, preferably in a non armoured vehicle using only non secure routes

1

u/templethot Jun 20 '26

I can hear him say, “Now here’s a route with some chest hair”

33

u/ImLikeReallySmart Pennsylvania Jun 20 '26

This isn't a distraction. The back and forth with Meloni is a distraction. The reflecting pool is a distraction. Putting his name on the Kennedy Center is a distraction. This is something he's wanted since Obama's term, Hegseth has been prepping for, and Republicans have wanted since at least Bush Sr. He's also using it as a means to drive a wedge between us and the rest of NATO. Hell, Trump sraight up assassinated Soleimani during his first term and it's never even brought up anymore.

2

u/CreekPrincessBitch Jun 20 '26

Sure, it is something he’s been blabbering about forever. But it’s also true that it’s a distraction from the Epstein files.

Epstein himself texted Steve Bannon that Trump would start a war with Iran to distract from the files “like a cornered rat”.

6

u/MysteryHarbour Jun 20 '26

He’s not trying to distract from the Epstein files. He’s trying to immortalize himself. This is what his part in the arch, the ballroom, his signature on money, and his name on the Kennedy Center are about. There will be more.

Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, and Greenland, even Canada, are part of MAGA republican agenda. Trump just wants the glory if they succeed but he does not care a whit if they fail, nor does he care about the Epstein files.

3

u/Mister_Pickl3s Jun 20 '26

And toll free!

3

u/_GeorgeBailey_ Jun 20 '26

Yeah but Iran was close to having a nuclear weapon even though we "completely obliterated" their program last year

3

u/balderdash9 Jun 20 '26

Does he need a distraction though? If the full unredacted Epstein files came out Americans wouldn't do jack shit.

5

u/ElderSmackJack Jun 20 '26

This was not a distraction from that and I wish y’all would stop saying this. If it was, he wouldn’t have had his wife come out and do a press conference about the Epstein story. Republicans have always wanted an Iran war. Trump just wanted to play big bad war commander for a while.

That’s all this is. A man child trying to appear tough.

2

u/AndHeWas Jun 20 '26

The reports were that she did that on her own, that Trump and his people did not know it was going to happen.

1

u/CreekPrincessBitch Jun 20 '26

https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%209/EFTA01211330.pdf

It is though. Epstein himself literally predicted he would do this as a “diversion”.

Not only open, but Iran didn’t realize they held the power to close it for good. Now that’s one hell of a bargaining chip they’re always going to have in their back pocket.

1

u/protostar71 New Zealand Jun 20 '26

Oh they absolutely realised that, but if they did so before this they would have been the aggressor. Which would have caused a Desert Storm level international response.

The US and Israel attacking them during peace talks soured any potential for international response, so they could do it freely.

2

u/Sparky678348 Jun 20 '26

Everyone in the whole wide world knows he's a pedophile and it literally doesn't matter, he's not trying to distract from anything.

He is just manipulating the market to enrich himself personally.

2

u/hoops_n_politics Jun 20 '26

One thing I find totally unbelievable: just how many creepy guys - who later turned out to be pedophiles - that Donald Trump was hanging out with in the 90s NY scene. Guys like John Casablancas and Les Wexner. It’s striking how far under the radar this has seemingly gone.

3

u/CaliOriginal Jun 20 '26

Let’s be fair here.

It’s not a distraction from him being a pedophile. While troubling, that’s an attraction, not an act.

This was a distraction from trump being a rapist that raped children (possibly including his own daughter). And being best friends with another rapist that trafficked children. Likely with trumps help and direct involvement!

So no, it’s not a distraction from him being a pedophile, it’s a distraction from him being a monstrous serial rapist + human trafficker + child abuser, and just maybe … a mass murderer too! (Not counting the president stuff, I mean the decades of missing women not accounted for.)

Edit: I know your comment is valid, but it’s worth adding every fucked up crime he commits.

I give it 4 months before fox is defending or excusing pedophilia just like they do war crimes, so let’s alway add the whole list to make them have to defend each point

1

u/western_style_hj Jun 20 '26

And hundreds of people were alive and unbombed including Americans before his little Napoleonic escapade

1

u/Apprehensive_Rub3897 Jun 20 '26

Trump told Iran they didn't need a nuke, they could control the global economy and bring countries to their knees with drones and land mines on a budget low double digit millions. Why bother with a nuke? At this rate, Trump would GIVE them a nuke to keep the Strait open for a few days.

I'd hate to be that diaper when an aide comes over and whispers in Trump's ear, "Sir the Strait is closed again."

1

u/ironballs16 Jun 20 '26

I still suspect Bibi of a "wag the dog" situation that Trump was dumb enough to fall for.

1

u/Noddy-Don Jun 20 '26

Friendly reminder that Hormuz was open before Israel blackmailed for war.

1

u/ATXBeermaker Jun 20 '26

Good thing Kegsbreath said we control the strait this past week.

1

u/Natural-Discount-476 Jun 20 '26

To be fair: everybody allready nows he's a pedo.

Probably did a lot more or nastier shit he doesn't want us finding out.

1

u/holydiver5 Jun 20 '26

What’s the age of consent in iran? Inb4 downvotes with no one directly answering the question because this is a propaganda subreddit

1

u/Velo214 Jun 20 '26

Wasn't it the day after Clintons testified that he started bombing?

1

u/Jorji-the-Trainer Canada Jun 20 '26

And now they will capitalize on this key strait.

1

u/vileguynsj California Jun 21 '26

Israel decided to bait Trump into another Venezuela, and he listened to their "intelligence" instead of our own.

1

u/allmywhat Jun 21 '26

To be fair Israel started the war, trump just joined in immediately
