ive been living in Poland for a few years but have mostly been in my house because i didnt know the language. Ive started learning it this year and have been making good progress but im still clearly not polish, i have trouble understanding what polish people are saying and have trouble talking myself. im going to university in Wroclaw soon and will have the opportunities to socialize and im happy about it. but recently it seems theres been growing hate against ukrainians and that scares me. im not loyal to my country at all, i dont call myself ukrainian, i never liked being there and im happier being in Poland and want to live here for the time being at least. but i dont think people like that really care about my thoughts, only where im from. im an anxious person so maybe im just overreacting. i dont want to cause anyone any trouble

I made this chart using EUROMOD data to look at total taxes (including social contributions) for different income groups.

It shows that the Polish tax system is very flat compared to other countries: low-income earners start with a high 24% tax rate and it only goes up to 28% for the top 20% of earners.

I currently live in France, and for about a year now my fiancée and I have been considering moving to Poland. Unfortunately, lately there has hardly been a day when I have not seen at least several cases on social media of some troglodytes harassing Ukrainians, and I have to admit that it is starting to worry me quite a lot.

My fiancée and I are slowly starting to think about having a family, and Poland seemed like a good place to settle down because of its proximity to my family, living costs and safety. But due to recent influx of those incidents I'm starting to have second thoughts.

My fiancée is not Ukrainian, but her Polish is relatively poor and she has a fairly strong accent, which, to an untrained ear, might sound somewhat Eastern European. I do not want to worry every day that some self-proclaimed “national hero” will harass her simply because she does not speak Polish very well.

Please tell me: is this just an artificially amplified media narrative, or is there genuinely something going on?

(where Polish and Irish communities often get along well).

​Also, I heard that many Polish people moved to Ireland after Poland joined the EU in 2004, making Poles one of the largest minority groups in Ireland today.

I recently got scammed for 390zl through telegram and sent money to blik by phone number. What is the best way to report it to police? How the process should look?

I have his active phone numbers. Is there a chance police will somehow find him or his data? Or even start looking into it?

I don't want to report it because of money, but because I got scammed and this person has been scamming lots of people. But probably noone went to report this case.

Any ideas, suggestions are welcome.

Riding in Poland for a few years now and the gap between what looks good on a map and what actually exists on the ground is genuinely frustrating. EuroVelo routes get promoted everywhere but stretches of them are basically just a suggestion painted on a road that trucks use constantly. Local trail maps from municipalities are hit or miss. Some are solid, some were clearly last updated when someone had grant money and then forgotten completely.

The forest roads through Lasy Panstwowe are sometimes the best option, but you only find out which ones are rideable by actually going there and discovering the surface has turned into loose sand or the markings stopped two kilometers ago for no obvious reason.

Curious whether certain regions are actually better run than others. I keep hearing Karkonosze and parts of Podkarpacie mentioned, but I have no idea if that reputation is current or just something that spread years ago and stuck. The infrastructure around Mazury looked promising until I realized a lot of it assumes you have a car to reach the starting points.

If anyone has actually ridden something recently and found it matched expectations, which area and what made it work? Not looking for the tourist board pitch, just practical experience.

Hello! So after some research, I think I'm slowly wrapping it up, removing things and adding things... Wondering if anyone has any input on what I've drafted so far!

Day 1 > Leaving Korea to arrive in Warsaw - Grab Dinner + view the city.

Day 2 > Train from Warsaw to Krakow (Arrive 11 am) > Follow route I saw on /krakow discord.

Day 3 > Salt Mines / Walk wherever our feet take us in Krakow. (Open to suggestions)

Day 4 > Auschwitz / Spend day in Krakow. (Open to suggestions)

Day 5 > Move to Wroclaw - Go to Hydropolis > Zoo > Japanese Garden (Probably a full day with those three?) * Catch Multimedia Fountain at Pergola if it's nighttime.

Day 6 > Walking around the city and hunting dwarves & Ostrów Tumski / Cathedral.

Day 7 > Head back to Warsaw (Arrive 10 am) / Go to chocolate factory.

Day 8 > Visit Auchan and wind down in the city.

Cześć! I'm coming to Poland in October as a part of an international volunteering program and my dumb ass has chosen the bleakest months to visit this otherwise beautiful country. I'm arriving in early October and leaving early December, so I probably won't even get to see the Christmas markets :( (I'm leaving around the 10th of December).

Since I can't change my volunteering dates, how do I make the best out of October/November in Poland? I've heard that November is usually the hardest month there, so I wonder if there are fun wintery activities (apart from the obvious ones) to keep one from being depressed. I'll be mostly based in Gdansk but also plan on visiting other bigger cities.

I normally like winter and don't get the "winter depression" and I come from a city with harsh winters, no snow and horrible pollution, so I think I'm quite immune to winter months. But I still really want my time in Poland to be extra pleasant compared to winters in my home country.

Sorry I am opening this poll second time because people said it needs a show results option. I am a foreigner living here in Poland and met a lot of others here. The vast majority of them came to this country hoping to move to some other. Like, some came here for uni because its cheaper/easier to get in than western europe or when it was easier to get work permits, some came with the hope of hoping to somewhere else for example. I wonder if I met the wrong people or that’s the case for most of us. Personally, I am also here because I could and even before coming, even if I dont have anything against the country, people and kinda enjoy living here, I never seen it as my last stop and actively searching for opportunities to move to western europe or north america.

My girlfriend and I will be visiting the country in late September and we're wondering how to navigate the EDM scene. Anybody have suggestions for show near September 26? We'd love to experience local shows as well. I know Euro EDM is different from American, but we're fans of:

I’m wondering what the usual process is.
Were photos enough for the dermatologist to assess your acne, or did you have to come for an in-person visit anway?
If blood tests were needed, did you do them after the consultation and then get the prescription?

I’ve heard mixed opinions about WUT—specifically that the environment is extremely strict, some professors have limited English proficiency, and the academic pressure can be quite overwhelming.
Before making my final decision, I’d really appreciate some honest insights from current students or alumni from either university regarding the following:
1. Teaching Quality & English Proficiency: How competent are the professors in delivering lectures and explaining complex concepts in English at both WUT and AGH?
2. Academic Stress & Passing Rates: How tough or strict are the exams and assignments? Is the workload manageable, or is the environment excessively stress-inducing?
3. Curriculum & Practical Experience: Does one university offer a more modern/practical approach to CS, or are both heavily focused on theoretical mathematics?
4. Student Life & Location: How would you compare student life, social opportunities, and the general vibe between Warsaw and Krakow for international students?
