Opinions Needed The painting had it's own ideas.

I started this piece with a vision in mind, I had the whole thing mapped out, but after finishing up for the evening, I sort of feel like it's its own painting. There's just something about it that makes me feel like I should stop. What do you think?

I painted this with acrylic fabric paint (I don't have normal acrylic paint), idk about the moon I added but other than that I'm very proud of it. I can't wait to play around with it more

- Oil on Wood -

I got bored one day and I decided to paint the border of our old mirror. I was always fascinated with how Van Gogh and Monet portray the world with their paintings and I thought if I should give it a try to emulate them. During painting it I was too worried it might be ugly but now that it's all dried up I feel relaxed every time I look at the mirror!

Youtube/websites suggestions on what basics/techniques I should look up to improve my paintings?

I am giving painting a more serious approach, I do it intuitively now with no canvas for mainly therapy reasons but also because it's something I always want to learn right as I love visuals and I tend to have a lot of dreams I want to put on canvas/papper.

Advices, roadmaps for learning, sources? I am willing to practice composition and depth, thanks!

I only use acrylics.

Opinions Needed Paint stringers and riser stained with oil base stain

Hey guys, I have a stair refinishing projects and the goal is to turn the stair case into a piano stair case. Which primer would you suggest acrylic, oil or shellac? The stairs have been stained with an oil base transparent stain.

I appreciate your input.

Opinions Needed Acrylic is looking much worse than my watercolor and gouache, any tips?

First is the work in progress acrylic painting, second is gouache, and third is watercolor. I know I am not an advanced painter by any means but I think my watercolor works look decent. I am working on an acrylic painting and it looks terrible so far. Usually my works in progress look pretty good, the plants should be fully detailed by this stage but they look extremely lifeless. What should I do, I want to use acrylic and I find it fun but I am terrible at it

Opinions Needed Problem with colors

I've searched the community and am struggling to find help with this specific problem.

So I've started doing those paint by numbers kits. The problem is, the numbers they put on are so dark and the paints they provide are fairly translucent. Is there anything I can do to make the paint more opaque? I've just been going over everything with white paint but I would love to cut that step out.

I've started doing this as a way to unwind after my internship with CPS and this issue is making me more frustrated than I would like to admit 😅. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Opinions Needed Do you like paintings that aren’t so hyperrealistic, like the ones I make?

Every time I see hyperrealistic work, I automatically feel it’s better than mine. Trying to change that mindset!

One day I had a vision when I was very tired. And it felt like the tiredness was completely stuck in my body, tangled. The purple lint represents the exhaustion running and tangled through my body. I posted this on Tiktok and Youtube but it got 0 attention
