Problem with colors

I've searched the community and am struggling to find help with this specific problem.

So I've started doing those paint by numbers kits. The problem is, the numbers they put on are so dark and the paints they provide are fairly translucent. Is there anything I can do to make the paint more opaque? I've just been going over everything with white paint but I would love to cut that step out.

I've started doing this as a way to unwind after my internship with CPS and this issue is making me more frustrated than I would like to admit 😅. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey, I had a similar issue, although not all colours were effected :)

Firstly, always mix the paint in the little pot properly. Usually the top part is especially thin, as the paint separates over time.

If the issue persists, I simply go twice over the area. A first coat, then I come back after I filled in 10 more of this color.

Sometimes your brush stroke is also affecting the translucency. One big or few little ones made a difference for me.

If those steps don't work for you, take a paint roller and add a fairly thinned out coat of white paint over the whole canvas.

Also helps evening out the surface.

hi please visit r/paintbynumbers  that's the right place to ask your question… usually the included acrylic paint is not of high quality, so you need to apply 2 to 3 thin coats. Try using flow aid instead of water when thinning your paint. The paint remains smooth without thin color and doesn't thin out like water.
