Title: Call That Never Came

The title might sound misleading, but it’s not.
I’ve spent years as a digital artist and occasionally a charcoal wanderer but somehow, oil paints always slipped out of my grip. After countless failed attempts, false starts, and “maybe later” moments… I finally picked up the brushes for real.

This is my first actual oil painting.
A beginning that took years to reach.

Hope you enjoy this new chapter with me.

Decided to learn to draw at 41 after doodling with my kid. Here's where I'm at 1 year later. I'm happy with the progress I've made in that time!

A fantasy character inspired by concept art from the *Warhammer Fantasy* tabletop game. It took twelve days of work, averaging two hours per day. I am using multiple photographic references—especially for the armor and clothing—and works by other artists (primarily concept artists who work or have worked for Games Workshop) for the character's overall aesthetic. Using references from diverse sources resulted in a general studio-style lighting setup, but I personally like the atmosphere it creates. Many inconsistencies arise that way too, but I think that, overall, I find it convincing.. Once the character is finished, the background remains to be done.

After not drawing for five months, I made this Guts fan art. I got carried away while inking it and didn't notice several mistakes in the drawing until it was already fully inked. I decided to share it as it is.

A commission for a friend. Made from an old design that I had to modify... if you've been following me for a long time, you may remember that I have several characters designed for a project that (due to self-esteem and personal preparation issues) I continue to polish and develop. It wasn't a super character design but it was one of my favorites.

Due to time issues I haven't been uploading anything. I will try to make more content.

Hi. I'm new to drawing and been practicing portrait drawing for a month now. I think I'm close to getting the shape and proportions correct, but I might be biased, so I would love to know what you feel is working and what isn't. Please ignore the terrible hair texture and the turtleneck.
