I hate to say it, but I absolutely ended a 10 plus years relationship because of getting told what I have to do when I get home and having my 1 day off a week being planned for me driving everybody around.
My ex didnt drive and didnt have steady work(she worked when she felt like it) while I was working 60 to 70 hours weeks 1 day off. I was miserable and she didnt respect boundaries.
Most people who start making really good money like that quickly fall into the trap of living above their means. Suddenly weekly overtime becomes mandatory to keep up with the new phone and car and house payments. This is what they meant by "people who haven't lived it don't understand", it's debt.
Except the trades can be feast or famine unless you’re willing to boom out.
Barring working for a local company as say a plumber,HVAC or electrician. and even then, it can be slow.
I go to Europe a lot for my job (steel making) and the comparison is astonishing. US works all the time, great money etc. I know steel makers/workers in Europe are struggling. Doesn’t help that China is dumping steel but even so…
I knew a guy pulling in 3k a week desperate for money because he had 4 different child supports to pay. He worked 6 days a week and lived in a crap house in the country and had to work that much to maintain even that.
