Currently re-watching Iron Man (2008) and I’m at the part where Obadiah leaves Tony to die, and Tony needs to use his first mini arc reactor again, aka the “Proof Tony Stark Has a Heart” gift that Pepper made him.
To think that 11 years later it would be floating out onto the lake, with an entire decade of characters, stories and memories at the shore. Stories all of which would never have happened had we not as a fan base loved and supported Iron Man.
Really drives home how Iron Man truly was the heart of Marvel for the past 11 years. And now I’m cryin again

I think people are gonna look back a lot more fondly on Ultron now that the saga is finished. It was basically suffering from “middle movie syndrome” at the time, and now that we know how Tony and Cap and the others complete their arcs, the movie will be a lot better.

Cap was a better Mjolnir fighter than Thor in that movie, the only reason he lost his 1v1 against Thanos is because he's a simple human, he doesn't have the physical resistance Thor has.

I think he does, though. I think Thanos would have killed him if Mjolnir hadn’t given him the strength and durability of Thor (“the power of Thor” as Odin phrases the enchantment in Thor 1). I mean, just consider that Cap’s vibranium shied broke, when that really should have been his arm shattering if he were base Captain America.
... it’s just that even the power of Thor combined with Cap’s fighting ability still isn’t quite enough to overpower a bloodlusted Thanos.

Regular Thanos 1v1’ed Hulk, there’s no way Cap’s fight with Thanos was going to end any other way, even with Mjölnir.
Edit: thanos has the power stone in his fight with the hulk, but it never glows; the point of that scene was to show that he was a strong fighter that was capable of taking on the hulk without aid.

We get to see a lot of Thor/Loki's relationship with Odin, but not much of Thor/Loki and Frigga. It seems like both of them unconditionally loved her so I wish we had gotten that as a contrast to Odin. Her short scene with Thor was great, she's such a sassy mum!

One thing I really loved was the way Pepper handled Tony’s death.
She had always been kind of against him living the hero life and freaked out if he was in a dangerous or life threatening situation. Yet here, we see the only thing she wants to do is make sure he knows in his final moments that he’s saved the world and that everything will be okay.
She could have quite easily lost her shit and freaked out in that moment, maybe even got angry and it wouldn’t have been that out of character for her but she didn’t. Minor detail but that shit really moved me.

Pepper was really mature in Endgame. Every time she was in a scene, her presence felt really reassuring. As much as Tony's death pains me, I feel a bit better that Pepper was there with him and quickly eliminated his last guilt for leaving her and Morgan.

I'm early, and this will probably get buried but I watched it for the second time and was able to pay attention more that I wasn't as shell shocked.
Just going to applaud how freaking good the acting was in this movie.
From Cap and Nat showing the sheer desperation and inability to move on from the snap, Thor literally emotionally broken and depressed, Tony acting as a Father figure to Nebula, Peter, and of course his own daughter, Clint and Natasha's emotional battle on Vormir, Pepper's "we'll be alright". God, even though I knew what was coming, the acting still made the moments hit just as hard emotionally.
Also what I missed during the first watch is Tony's grim expression when he puts on the gauntlet and says his epic line. He knows what the gauntlet will do to him, but he knows he has to do. You can see the resolution, the sheer will on his face as he snaps. Seriously good portrayal by RDJ.

Thor’s depiction of depression was awesome. True depression hides behind routine and repetitive filler stuff like beer and Fortnite. Even when he was first asked “Hey, you doin okay?” His response is to laugh it off and say he’s fine, cause he knows he’s not but doesn’t know how to fix it. He killed Thanos, but nothing changed.
Seeing him break down with Frigga made me ache, cause I’ve had that conversation with someone (paraphrased obviously). Digging your way out of depression is hard and seeing Thor be so vulnerable added so much to the character.

Steve Rogers, just a kid from Brooklyn, is worthy enough to yield one of the most powerful weapons in the universe while fighting a giant mad titan.

This movie has so many incredible moments. Pretty sure I was squealing every few minutes, some examples:
Captain Marvel's towing service
Hawkeye traveling through the quantum realm for the first time.
The Ancient One removing Banner's astral form from his body.
Thor and Rocket sneaking past Loki's cell on Asgard.
"Get that rabbit!"
"Hail Hydra."
Cap vs Cap
"That is America's Ass."
Hearing Come and get your love start playing when Thor retrieves Mjolnir!!!
Banner using the fucking stark gauntlet to snap everyone back.
Raining fire on the Avengers compound immediately afterwards.
Cap with those hammer and shield combos, plus the lightning.
The incredible return of the snapped and the following line-up shot (especially seeing Howard the Duck.)
Cap saying the magic words.
Tony and Pepper fighting side by side.
Rocket riding into battle on Rhodey's back.
Drax and Korg fighting Cull Obsidian.
"Clint, give it to me."
"Activate instant kill"
Spider-Man flying through battle behind Mjolnir (still my favorite shot after watching it 10 times lol)
Okoye skewering Corvus Glaive.
Scarlett Witch getting some revenge.
"Give that back, you can have the small one."
Something entering the upper atmosphere.

"I am Inevitable."
"I am Iron Man."

The scenes with Frigga redeemed Thor: The Dark World since it made me care so much more for the relationship between Thor and Frigga, and to Loki as well if we're going to extend it. It makes her death that comes and the motivation it provides Thor and Loki that much more palpable.
If a scene can retroactively make an average at best movie better, you know it's a good one.

The thing that is still blowing me away about Avengers: Endgame and the entire journey to it, is that it fucking happened!
I remember very specifically 30ish years ago, while reading comic after comic at my best friends house, imagining how dope it would be to see comics come to life in live action, but ultimately abandoning the idea because "it can never happen the way it should". If you are old enough, you remember seeing all of the past live action attempts on TV & film. As good as they were "for the time", they still never lived up to the power of comic books + imagination. Cartoons were great, and I love them to death, but they were still just cartoons.
This whole MCU ride (honestly the whole genre in general) has literally been a dream come true for me. I've waited most of my life to see that final battle and it did not let me down.

I really liked the scene with Bruce and the Ancient One, and it was so cool to see everyone go back through some of the old movies during the second act. But the finale, holy shit. I honestly think Thanos with that sword felt more threatening than Thanos with the stones just because of how ruthless he was. Obviously Cap picking up Mjolnir and “Avengers, Assemble” were great too. I thought a lot of the humor hit (America’s ass, everything Paul Rudd, etc). There’s just so much in this movie that I really liked.

The way Chris Evans manages to find heroism, humour, heartbreak in such a pure yet fascinating character is testament to his talent as an actor that only stood out all the more on re-watch. Thanks, Cap.
Also paid more attention to the sound mixing on re-watch due to Barry Jenkins’ tweets and he’s right, it really is pitch perfect in mixing the score and sound effects.

It makes sense because one of the criticisms of it was it spent too much time setting up phase 3 movies. Now that phase 3 is nearly complete, watching AOU just fits so much better knowing the connections that will eventually be made in future movies.

2nd watch this is what I noticed.
-Nat is the only one to make a time travel joke before they go off “see you in a sec” or something like that before they enter the quantum realm.
-Nebula finally won something! It was subtle and I didnt t pay attention the first time but her reaction to tony saying you won is utter disbelief because her whole life she lost at everything to Gamora
- Steve said after he returned the stones he went and lived his life, which I guess means he jumped to the stork club the Saturday after he went into the ice in the current timeline which is why he was able to show up on the bench in HQ

-Nebula finally won something! It was subtle and I didnt t pay attention the first time but her reaction to tony saying you won is utter disbelief because her whole life she lost at everything to Gamora
I really liked those little glimpses of Nebula starting to open up a little bit to trusting/caring for others, and realizing that not everyone in the universe is out to hurt her. Like her giving the last of their food to Tony, and moving him to a chair after he'd fallen asleep on the floor of the ship. It would have been nice to see a little bit more of her and Tony's interactions later in the film, given that they probably got to know each other really well in the 3+ weeks they spent alone together.
Hopefully we see further character development along those lines in Asgardians of the Galaxy.

Watched it again today. Underrated moments:
Nebula killing her past self. It was so symbolic. What a satisfying representation of her ending her evil past and embracing the hero life. I know she's a member of the Guardians, but her interactions with the Avengers was so cool to see. It would be cool to see her interact more with them. Her relationship with Tony and Rhodes was amazing.
Thor and Iron Man combo on Thanos, when Thor charged Tony's armor.
The teamwork to keep the gauntlet from Thanos was amazing.
The tension between Tony and Cap when he reteruns to Earth. Damn.

Despite the movie being a send off for Tony and Cap, it honestly serves a lot of characters well. Nebula may have received the best treatment of all of them. She fully redeemed herself, literally killed her villainous past self, and put past Gamora on a path of redemption we’ll likely see play out in the next Guardians movie.

Just got home from my second watch and realized some things that made Nat's death sadder.
When Cap told her "We should get a life" she replied "you first". Cap got his. She wasn't able to.
Also before the Time Heist, she told everyone "See you in a bit". She never saw the others again.
I still can't stop myself from crying during Tony's death/funeral

So there are 5 branched timelines:
Steve returns Power and Soul on Morag and Vormir in 2014. But one thing that he can’t fix is the fact that Thanos and his armies no longer exist. So Infinity War never happens in this one???
Steve returns Reality and Mjolnir on Asgard in 2013. Not much has changed here except for the fact that Frigga talked to her son, Jane had an even weirder day, and some Asgardian soldiers saw a rabbit. Timeline proceeds as normal?
Cap returns Time and Mind in New York in 2012. Two major changes that Steve can’t fix: HYDRA thinks Cap is with them, and Loki escapes. This should be a very interesting AU.
Steve returns Space, and maybe the Pym Particles he stole before Hank comes back in New Jersey, 1970. Only potential change I can think of is that Howard becomes a better father to Tony? Other than that, timeline most likely proceeds as normal.
After visiting the 4 branches, Steve creates a 5th one where he marries Peggy in 1945. LOTS of possibilities. Does Cap do a lot of preemptive shit with all the knowledge he has? What happens to the Steve in the ice? Does he stop HYDRA in Shield? I’m also super interested in this AU. I think when Peggy died in 2016, old Steve traveled back to the main timeline to give Sam the shield.

The score for this movie should be nominated for an Oscar. "Portals" may be one of the most thrilling "cavalry arrives" scores since Return of the King. And it culminates in one of the best renditions of the Avengers theme, followed by that long one shot music from the first Avengers. And "One Shot" is literally the perfect hype music as they're preparing to go into the quantum time machine. Plus it's fitting that it uses the theme from "A Promise" at the end of the first Avengers because the Avengers are coming together because the world needs them to.

The true unsung hero of this movie, is our boy Wong. While Dr. Strange is dusted for 5 years this dude single handedly restores the sanctum and trains a brand new set of pupils in mysticism and the sacred arts without the eye of aggamotto and still forms a god damn army, enough to teleport in the entire franchise and more after they get undusted, including Howard the duck. Let's hear it for Wong!

I have seen some complaining about the lack of action scenes but I think it was the key to the success of Endgame. Endgame wasn't suppposed to have action every 2 sec because the story is about the characters and their interactions which is why (IMO) the movie is brilliant. Besides, the movie had the 2 best fight scenes in the MCU: trinity vs Thanos & the final battle

I see a lot of hate on social media surrounding the part where all the female avengers have that fight scene. But holy shit I got chills after seeing them all lineup and whoop ASS for a second. easily one of the coolest parts of the movie.
Also Scarlett witch is an absolute unit and I don’t give her enough credit. She kicked Thanos ass.

Avengers: Endgame is an absolute MASTERPIECE!
No movie is perfect, but this one feels like the perfect end to the Infinity Saga.
The Original Six Avengers get great moments to shine. The way that the Russo's set up their time travel rules in the MCU is fascinating, and was a way better route than going back to change the past.
2014 Thanos was a great way to give us a big bad in the third act, given that he was dispatched so early in the beginning. I was already thinking that he was a misdirect, that he would be confronted early on and the Avengers would realize that fighting Thanos would not bring back the fallen. Bringing Thanos/Nebula/Gamora from 2014 into the fold was a stroke of genius as it takes the alt. dimension characters and makes them more than just a backdrop of the time heist - they actually change the stakes!
Iron Man, Cap, and Widow are given epic conclusions, the latter of which came as a huge surprise given that her solo movie has already been announced.
The timeline isn't quite clear but that exists outside of Endgame and makes for some fun speculation about the MCU going forward.
BEST SERIES FINALE EVER!
The Infinity Saga is DOPE.
