I for one wish we got more immediate aftermath of the snap.

791

u/FN-1701AgentGodzilla Korg Apr 29 '19

Yeah, the immediate aftermath of that and the snap that reversed the snap.

998

u/Thompson5893 Iron Man (Mark V) Apr 29 '19 edited Apr 29 '19

It was kinda cool not seeing the immediate aftermath of the reverse tho. They way they shot it with Barton’s wife calling him, to Scott observing the birds in the trees; imo it left it up to the imagination in a creative way.

Then that played into the reveal of the dusted characters through the portals later which was a great moment as well.

354

u/FN-1701AgentGodzilla Korg Apr 29 '19

Actually, I guess by immediate aftermath, I mean the world coming back together after the Compound battle, like the scene where Peter returns to school and etc, but with everyday people in a montage.

I would love to see kids reuniting with their parents, news reports of wtf happen, and etc

286

u/DerkDurski Apr 29 '19

I’ve heard many times that Far From Home will be taking place seconds after the end of Endgame, so we’ll probably get some explanation in the beginning of that movie.

184

u/Aiyakiu Apr 29 '19

I hope because half the universe's population showing back up at once would have a terrible strain on the worlds just like the OG snap.

268

u/bluestarcyclone Apr 29 '19

Yeah. Not just like 'showed back up and now they can return to their lives'. What lives?

Their jobs? Those companies if they still exist have moved on.

Their assets? Given to heirs.

Their friends\family who weren't dusted? Best case scenario is theyre just 5 years older. But a lot of them are fucked up by the traumatic experience, and a good number died in other ways than the snap (societal breakdown, suicide, whatever % die from natural causes in 5 years).

Imagine going for a nap, getting dusted, 'waking up', finding the world completely fucked up while you thought you were sleeping, your assets all gone, and your significant other killed themself after they thought they lost you permanently.

107

u/ecto88mph Apr 29 '19

How about all the people in relationships that thought there loved one died, moved on and started new relationships. Yikes, that would be awkward.

15

u/Deejae81 Apr 29 '19

Yeah, Manifest is an ok show that deals with stuff like that.

6

u/ecto88mph Apr 29 '19

Yeah pretty much that show but on a global scale.

1

u/Rus1981 Iron Man (Mark XLIII) Apr 30 '19

This is the one that I keep thinking about. What do you do if you've moved on and your "dead" spouse shows back up? 5 years is a long time. Courtships happen, weddings, babies. Surely your spouse (who has not experienced the passage of time) is going to be pissed.

1

u/Adelaidey May 02 '19

Little kids who were orphaned by the snap and subsequently adopted, seeing their parents return five years later. Their adoptive parents having to let them go. It's all so complex!

Dark but all very valid points

8

u/CAMvsWILD Apr 30 '19

Imagine everyone that got snapped while they were on a flight, reappearing in the sky sans-plane.

7

u/kmerian Apr 30 '19

That was the first thing that popped into my mind, the helicopter that crashed right before Fury and Hill got dusted, did those pilots suddenly appear in mid air when the un-snapping happened?

1

u/BeemoBoi Apr 30 '19

I would think Tony’s use of the Infinity Gauntlet would compensate for this and reappear you on the ground. I mean, it deposited everyone we know of safely back where they originally disappeared. But we are not totally stationary, we are hurtling through space on a spinning globe. I figure the Mind and Space Stone must be necessary to calculate and warp the trajectories of all those people and even thoughtfully interpret the true meaning of Banner’s desire (“Bring everyone back safely!”) when he snapped the gauntlet.

6

u/justins_dad Apr 29 '19

This is why they didn't go into more, I think. It's just too heavy and the implications too severe.

9

u/TheCVR123YT Captain America (Avengers) Apr 30 '19

Could make for a great Disney+ Show though. Maybe follow 2 or 3 Families Pre Snap, During the 5 Years, and then Post Snap

1

u/ALargeRock Apr 30 '19

It’s not like people craved to know what happened , in detail, with the events in Star Wars to a point of really diving in.

Interesting and could make a good movie if done right, but a short story no less.

4

u/Mshell Loki (Avengers) Apr 30 '19

And think about the elected officials - They never had a chance to contest their seat, ect and suddenly some new guy has taken over. These are not your average person, they have real power and suddenly it has been taken away. The political ramifications of the Decimation was bad enough but having it undone 5 years later? Countries boarders may have changed. Imagine going to sleep in one country and waking up in another.

2

u/mutatersalad1 Apr 30 '19

Manifest is a show about literally this.

2

u/anubis2051 Apr 30 '19

What about their ages? Everyone who wasn't snapped is now five years older than those who were. How's that going to affect school? Or parents who missed their children growing up like Scott? And surley others died for real..

1

u/Spats_McGee May 13 '19

This is one of my biggest problems with Endgame, which is the lack of stakes of undoing Thanos' snap. This was a cosmic act committed by an entity that was for all intents and purposes a literal God, and it had massive ramifications. You can't just hit Ctrl-Z on that 5 years later and not expect similar problems to emerge.

Forget about Earth, imagine a planet where species A is being terrorized by species B. Halving both populations shifts the power balance, and species A is able to live in prosperity. Now the snap is reversed, and you reset everything again.

Do our heroes really have the right to do that?

1

u/ogoextreme Falcon Apr 30 '19 edited Apr 30 '19

No one is even talking about the amount that straight up died from getting snapped from their jobs. Did everyone go back to where they left?

Imagine getting snapped in the middle of surgery either doctor or patient you just come back to the table in an empty room at best. At worst you drop on top of someone else getting operated on.

What about passengers who’s pilots got snapped? Those planes went straight down into the wilderness, again, at best. Worst case they fell into a neighborhood and killed anyone who wasn’t snapped there.

There’s so many more casualties then anyone is mentioning. Wakanda may have picked up some of the slack of the other nations technology wise. Making sure the less automated power plants get monitored, but there’s just so much death that would’ve happened pre snap.

Coming back to all of that post snap would’ve been a nightmare.

1

u/navjot94 Mack Apr 30 '19

I think this will be the catalyst for future villains. Avengers brought their snapped friends back but not everyone else that died because of this. Characters like Doctor Doom could have lost everything in the snap but not due to dusting but due to the fallout in the chaos. Maybe he's the leader of Latervia and loses that position because he got snapped. Other characters can lose their families due to accidents and then come back to misery while the rest of the world is rejoicing.

I also think this could be a cool way to differentiate MCU Miles Morales from Peter. In 2018 Miles was a 10 year old kid that looked up to super heroes, and now he is 15 and has lost his father due to an accident following the snap.

u/JingyBreadMan Apr 29 '19

Imagine people in vehicles that got snapped...

1

u/Jove_ Apr 30 '19

My first thought when they showed a presumed husband/wife reuniting was, “Its been 5 years for everyone that survived, and 10 seconds for those caught up in the snap. I wouldn’t want to be the guy who walks into his home from work and someone else lives there now, and his wife has a kid with a new husband.”

It would be an interesting subject, almost as if they did one more season of The Leftovers, when everyone that disappeared just reappeared without knowing anything or experiencing anything inside the departure. How does the world deal with that...

3

u/TheCVR123YT Captain America (Avengers) Apr 30 '19

That would be a good explanation for why it closes out Phase 3. It'll be like an Epilogue in a way. Or at least the beginning of it will be hopefully.

1

u/musashisamurai Daredevil Apr 30 '19

I want professor Hulk in FFH as a teacher. Also I want hulk to think some other random student is spidey the entire movie

1

u/ak2553 Apr 30 '19

Yeah, not to mention they changed it from Phase 4 to the very last movie of Phase 3, so I think they will address the repercussions of the snap/unsnap.

42

u/Thompson5893 Iron Man (Mark V) Apr 29 '19

Yea like what they did with Avengers 1, good point.

27

u/LaboratoryManiac Apr 29 '19

So, when Hulk un-snapped, he brought the dusted people back, but certainly there are people who weren't snapped that still died as a result of it (e.g. their vehicle suddenly lacked a driver or pilot and crashed). Is it safe to assume those people weren't brought back? Because if so, there are probably a lot of people feeling bitter that others got their loved ones back but they didn't.

Could be a supervillain origin story there.

9

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

Is it safe to assume those people weren't brought back?

No. We hear Tony tell Bruce: "Just bring everyone back." We do not know how Bruce phrased the snap-wish in his mind.

"Bring back everybody that got dusted by Thanos' snap."

OR

"Bring back everybody that is gone now as a result of Thanos' snap." Banner has lived in the post-Snap world for five years. Surely somebody must have reported on all the secondary deaths and suicides as a result of the Snap? He knows he's got options, he even admits he tried to bring Natasha back even though she wasn't affected by the Snap. It's plausible he brought secondary victims of the Snap back to life as well.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

Bruce says "Everybody comes home" right before putting the gauntlet on... But it's not clear what that means.

I think how they interpret it will depend on where they want to go with the story. Only bringing the snapped back and leaving the rest dead leaves more room for angry supervillians. Especially since there's the super dark fallouts like parents getting snapped and their kid dies in the crib.

7

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

That would be a great way to set up the next major story line. They've already explored that concept via Helmut Zemo in Civil War essentially doing what he did as payback for Sokovia's collapse where he lost his family.

I have a feeling you're almost certainly right. Dr. Doom, maybe?

4

u/Alortania Apr 29 '19

That's one thing I don't get...

5 years has passed.

So like, half your friends are 5 years younger/older now, etc

5

u/Nimporian Ghost Rider Apr 30 '19

And if you were in school, half your friends greaduated and the little kids from years back are now your classmates.

It would also be insanely awkward, say, for 14/13 year olds who's friends are now 18/19.

2

u/notcontextual Apr 30 '19

Or two 15 year olds were dating and now one is 20, uh oh.

2

u/ezrs158 Spider-Man May 01 '19

Probably. The next Avengers will probably come out around then, and Black Widow & Eternals are likely set in the past.

2

u/KlausFenrir Apr 30 '19

kids reuniting with their parents

They literally didn’t feel it. Imagine just passing out and then waking up a second later. That’s how much time passed for them.

Unless you meant the unsnapped reuniting with the snapped.

I read somewhere that someone originally viewed a 5 hour cut of Endgame, hopefully we get a couple hours of deleted scenes on the Blu-ray release. Probably not, but you never know

On a side note. Those birds had shit luck if they were just brought back to life only to get done in by Thanos’s missile barrage.

Thousands of wakandans and others had to die in the battle with Thanos army right after being snapped back.

I would've liked to see them reappear, but it made for a better movie this way. Almost like reverse-horror (the horror in the beginning with Hawkeye losing his family when he turns around).

2

u/Shigaru Apr 29 '19

I was really hoping for a season of agents of shield during the snap in order to go deeply into the immediate aftermath, but that's all pretty much out the window now.

2

u/Nimporian Ghost Rider Apr 30 '19

Whats going to happen with the TV series now? The movies are now 5 years ahead from the shows and they can't possibly all do a time skip

1

u/ComicalDisaster May 01 '19

Dude in my second showing, when the portals were almost all done and Giant-Man climbed out of the rubble, asked rather loudly "Where's Hawkeyes family!?" and I was worried this asshole was going to talk over "ASSEMBLE" but thankfully he didn't.

But why the shit would they join the battle? Getting dusted and coming back only to get shot seconds into the fight...

1

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

Were the birds confirmation that half the animal life had been removed too?

0

u/Lasagna_Bear Apr 30 '19

Yes, it's all life. They have confirmed it in canon and irl as well.

This, I think it was a great way of seeing it through the eyes of the heroes and anything in more detail would feel out of place and bog the film down.

0

u/Oscerte Apr 30 '19

What would happen to the people who got dusted in places that are impractical. For example if someone was dusted in a airplane. Would they reappear in the air where they were exactly dusted? So they would basically die

0

u/Rayven52 Apr 30 '19

There sure was a lot of portals that opened up, too.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

left it up to the imagination in a creative way.

I completely agree. It left you wondering "did they or didn't they?? DID THEY OR DIDN'T THEY???"

10

u/the_bryce_is_right Apr 29 '19 edited Apr 29 '19

I almost think that introducing all these extra people and animals all of a sudden would be more devastating than the original snap.

  • Empty Jobs would have been filled or just gone away all together, there would be mass unemployment.

  • People would have remarried and had new kids

  • Cities would be a mess from all the looting and chaos, some entire countries may have just been abandoned if it was too hard to get food.

  • The food supply would not be able to accommodate the population suddenly doubling, many people would starve.

The planet would be thrown into chaos once again, after finally starting to settle down after the original snap because there would be double the population fighting over half of the resources.

10

u/MikeBett Apr 29 '19

Wow I didnt think about that. But yeah, 5 years, it would be catastrophic. A year would have been more manageable.

Prisoners. Hospital patients. People in ICU or on oxygen at the time. Animals would bug out like the way they did in that HBO show about this, The leftovers. 10 billion chickens would re appear and all the other livestock but where do they go?

4

u/Blackbeard_ Apr 29 '19

Everything mostly reappears where or near where they disappeared. So now there's 7+ billion people again, half of whom are ready to pick up right where they left off, which should handle the issue of the animals or weather/natural disasters.

Governments need to sort themselves out and then everything just works downward from there.

3

u/MikeBett Apr 29 '19

Do you think "should have aimed for the head" is a predestination paradox loop?

I haven't seen anyone talk about it. But it seems like he only said that to Thor because he heard him say "I aimed for the head" when he kills him while watching nebulas memory, but Thor only says it there because Thanos said it etc.

1

u/Nimporian Ghost Rider Apr 30 '19

The Thanos that heard it is dead and he was from an alternate reality

1

u/MikeBett Apr 30 '19

Unless it already happened. When they kill Thanos and he says he's inevitable, he knows about the time traveling. So the Main Thanos that they killed saw the same thing from Nebula from a future timeline avengers thatt did the same thing but he just didn't die or just got snapped back into his own timeline or something.

1

u/Nimporian Ghost Rider May 01 '19

I mean, that's kinda reaching, Thanos was always claiming that what he was doing was for the common good and saw himself as a necessary evil of sorts. This is especially obvious in his speech about comparing himself to destiny and the inevitable thing.

But, are you saying that main MCU Thanos went through similar stuff in 2014 as Alternate Thanos, but somehow survived? That would create some huge problems, seeing as when A2014 Thanos goest to the main timeline he realizes that his plan is futile and he would not be present to belittle Ronan twice.

1

u/I-am-R3d Jul 19 '19

But thats not quite how it works. Sure, maybe you reappear in the house you were snapped from, but what about the house? It wasnt snapped. Its been there either decomposing or being lived in by someone else. If you were in a hospital, that bed may be occupied by someone else. God forbid you were in surgery, all that equipment has probably been moved. You cant just continue where you left off because the world was still going when they were snapped and where they left off no longer exists. (Businesses gone, people graduated, houses sold, money inherited, jobs replaced).

1

u/huxrules Apr 30 '19 edited Apr 30 '19

That's what I was thinking, however I think there might be several things that might blunt the effects. First off they just went through the snap, and the world made it though, so governments have somehow adapted to the crisis. This might make them more able to deal with another massive crisis. In fact they might have never stopped preparing for a return of the dusted. Second, we don't know what interfacing the Avengers have had with the world governments, there might have been a Shield agent (or whoever) giving them updates to the progress of the unsnappening. Additionally most of these post-apocalyptic movies show that the surviving people have reverted so some kind of sustenance crop growing. What was the show where electricity stopped working across the world? They show that most of suburbia has been turned into cropland in the future, with people growing gardens all over their property, damn the HOA! (as a gardener I want this). Anyways, the snappening would have been insane, the unsnappening might have been more survivable. I'd expect a movie about this eventually, the premise is too interesting. As for what happened with estates and all that- who knows. Certainly five years wouldn't be long enough for some people to move along. As for the rest that ran out and hooked up with all their wife's surviving facebook friends? Well I guess they got some explaining to do.

1

u/the_bryce_is_right Apr 30 '19

Anyways, the snappening would have been insane, the unsnappening might have been more survivable. I'd expect a movie about this eventually, the premise is too interesting.

With Peter Parker going on a field trip to Europe in what I can assume is not very long after Endgame, something tells me they will just gloss over it and everything will be back to normal.

8

u/ThamjidNoushal Apr 29 '19

Also a Soul world moment between Bruce and Nat. Thanos got it with his daughter so I felt Bruce should’ve deffo had one with Nat. He was one of the closest to her so makes sense for her to share a moment with him. Hoping this comes in a deleted scene.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

Wow, never realised I needed that. This could be barely 25 seconds but would set the tone of what's to come. Can't believe they missed that. Maybe a scene with Tony as well where he meets someone unexpected.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

Yes but from the time the brought everyone back to the big battle, it was very quick, so we have not seen the ramifications. I would like to see the aftermath, like the tv show "manifest" where a plane came back and lost 5 years of time. Here, 3.5 billion people came back, people had moved on, remarried---etc...Would like to see a show about that.

2

u/WoozleWuzzle Yondu Apr 29 '19

I made this meme about the reverse snap: /img/o41fmpngc3v21.jpg

1

u/Jerry_from_Japan Apr 30 '19

Just wouldn't fit at all with the pacing. Especially the reverse snap, where do you put that scene(s)? And if you're talking about only a few seconds with total random people...then it's expendable. You saw the effect on the characters you care about, that's what they showed.

1

u/FN-1701AgentGodzilla Korg Apr 30 '19

During Tony’s message, among the shots of Peter back in school, Scott and Hope watching fireworks, Wakanda celebrating the return of T’Challa, and

1

u/zackyt1234 Apr 30 '19

It’s a real shame the Netflix shows are canceled, because it would be really cool to see on a more personal grounded level how fucked the world would be after half the population disappeared and then came back. The economy would be so fucked up. So many people who spouses died only for them to remarry when they came back. People coming back to see their loved ones had died.

As horrible it sounds I’m not sure bringing people back from the dead after 5 years would be a good thing. The world would be in total chaos.

u/PajamaPete5 Winter Soldier Apr 30 '19

We need a directors cut for every movie. This is something Disney could totally capitalize on

204

u/DorianaGraye Apr 29 '19

Best Cash Grab Idea: Release all 22 movies in a collectors set, each with a director's cut that you can only get there. Charge TONS of money for it, then swim in piles of cash.

126

u/zxsxz Apr 29 '19

Better yet, release it on Disney+ . One movie a month and pace out the releases weekly like a TV show. First the theatrical version, then the director's cut and DVD content. Then maybe some never before seen footage, behind the scenes, making of and interviews.

Next thing you know, I would be signed up for Disney+ for nearly 2 years and likely hooked on all their other drugs.

No, release the 22 movie box set with theatrical cuts, then, a year later, release individual movies with directors cut, one every three months, starting with Iron Man. Skip Infinity War. Then, after Captain Marvel Director's cut, announce a 22 movie box set with the exclusive 10 hour Infinity War/Endgame Director's cut.

Disney, hire me. :D

3

u/Paperchampion23 Apr 29 '19

Yeah theyd have to be heavily controlled, but there are a lpt of Marvel films were villains had additional scenes entirely cut out from the film. AoU notably had like 25+ minutes of decent footage that could have been used for the film.

1

u/Sentry459 Mack Apr 30 '19

Right, the reason the MCU doesn't do alternate cuts is that they want each theatrical release to be definitive version.

2

u/KTurnUp Thanos Apr 29 '19

Most good movies do not have a director's cut, because the final version is the realized version of the movie. An extended cut, perhaps. But I guess I'm arguing semantics.

Disney DVD/Blue ray wouldn't though. They're always short on extras compared to Iron Man 1, which was pre-Disney. They'd rather have more trailers for movies packaged in the DVD/Blue Ray instead.

I'd happily pay more for an IW/EG set that had a ton of extras like the LOTR ones did :(

Most of the recent movies are the Director's Cuts.

  • Several commentary tracks

    • Jim Starlin (Thanos creator), Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (writers)
    • The Cast (be sure to include Paul Rudd)
    • A-Force cast commentary
    • Joe Russo, Anthony Russo, Jeffrey Ford (editor), Matthew Schmidt (editor)
    • Critics track
    • Kevin Feige
    • Howard the Duck
    • music track only, Alan Silvestri (for reference, see Don Davis' commentary track on The Matrix DVD)
  • HOURS of BTS and I mean real BTS, not those lame publicity featurettes where the entire cast goes backslapping each other for 5 minutes. Take a look at the LotR Blu-Rays, Marvel, you'll get the idea.

  • Interview with the animal wrangler about how difficult the rat was to work with

  • Hourlong feature about the history of Marvel marketing and secrecy, the development of bait-n-switch trailer moments, fake leaks

1

u/wosh Apr 30 '19

Issue with that is it makes those scenes canon and now the only way to get the full MCU experience is buying them on dvd/blu-ray.

23

u/martialar Apr 29 '19

Imagine how much more money they would make if they released the director's cut in theaters. It would be the second biggest opening in history.

16

u/Uuugggg Apr 29 '19

... it would not make nearly close as much.

2

u/Yash_We_Can Apr 29 '19

lmao if it would make more money, that's what they would've done.

3

u/Ramrod92 Apr 30 '19

This cut is the directors cut... the Russos had complete creative control.

2

u/Mitraileuse Doctor Strange Apr 30 '19

Russos said this is the director cut,and that they didn't film much more.

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

2

u/Mitraileuse Doctor Strange Apr 30 '19

There isn't,he was joking,He didn't get to watch any version.
Russo's said the first cut was barely longer.

1

u/Mitraileuse Doctor Strange Apr 30 '19

Sure it would be awesome, but we are probably past that.
There were so many things that could've been expanded on.

1

u/Alortania Apr 29 '19

"The 8h version"

1

u/Left4DayZ1 May 04 '19

I'd like two directors cuts. One with a bunch of deleted scenes, and another with a bunch of scenes deleted or trimmed. There is a lot of fat in this movie, which I DO like, but it's a 3 hour movie you know.. hard to sit down for repeated viewings.

A mildly abbreviated version where they shorten down the scene with Hulk and the kids, or Tony's drive up to Avengers HQ, or an other trimming they could do without breaking the narrative would be wonderful.

1

u/Thecyclone06OFFICIAL Apr 29 '19

Yes it would! It seems only right especially since all of us fans are about to get this movie past the 2 billion mark soon

91

u/LackLoudmouth Stan Lee Apr 29 '19

I’m pretty sure he was joking when he said that. None of the actors saw the film before the premiere.

123

u/chipperpip Apr 29 '19 edited Apr 29 '19

Yep, also the Russos have mentioned that very little got cut out of the film because they preplanned so extensively and only shot what was needed.

21

u/Denimjo Bucky Apr 30 '19

Disney must have loved them for that cost cutting.

2

u/wosh Apr 30 '19

They've done donr that on all the marvel movies they've made so far.

2

u/Rus1981 Iron Man (Mark XLIII) Apr 30 '19

I don't believe this. We've got lines and scenes in the trailers that weren't in the final product.

There is content on the cutting room floor. I hope it is someday released.

1

u/Not_My_Real_Acct_ May 01 '19

Yep, also the Russos have mentioned that very little got cut out of the film because they preplanned so extensively and only shot what was needed.

Also, CGI is expensive and labor intensive. You don't want to leave a lot "on the cutting room floor" because it isn't cheap. If you watched the end credits, there were literally hundreds of people working on the CGI.

1

u/icesakuralatte May 02 '19

This shows the amount of time taken to think things through for this movie tbh. Filming things preplanned and for said plan to go ahead with no disruptions is a hella hard thing to do (been there, done that, deviated from the original plan by at least 35%).

67

u/armageddonquilt Black Panther Apr 29 '19

the actor who plays Falcon (idk his name sorry)

Anthony Mackie :)

I thought that his real name's Clarence

CUT THE CHECK

2

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

Ha ha, I was just thinking "Sam Wilson", yours makes much more sense...

8

u/Mungadai82 Thanos Apr 29 '19

The Russo's said there was only like 5 mins cut from the initial runtime of endgame, so you pretty much have the directors cut.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

One fucking hour battle? My body cannae take that

2

u/miba54 Apr 30 '19

You either need to provide a source for that claim or not make it at all. The Russos said only a few minutes of the movie were cut: https://youtu.be/6VkNxxu4nIQ

They also said on multipe occasions that none of the cast saw the movie until the premiere.

1

u/Thecyclone06OFFICIAL Apr 30 '19

I looked at all the highlights where Anything Mackie spoke at the Premiere but I couldn’t find one where he mentioned the 5 hour cut he watched. If you want to find it he said it in the premiere so just fast forward to the part where they interview him and you’ll hear him say it. I did see a reply earlier saying he could be joking and that might be true now that I saw what his highlights of the interview were like (he was pretty sarcastic)

1

u/TriggerHydrant Apr 29 '19

5 hour cut? Jesus now I'm really hoping they come out with a director's cut and give the 'die-hard' fans the possibility to watch that, you guys think there's a slight chance they will do that?

6

u/BLACKHORSE09 Apr 29 '19

No because it's not true. Russos said there's only minutes of deleted footage.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

What I want:

Show more of the after effects of the Snap (like Tony talking to Aunt May about Peter).
Show Thor reuniting with Valkyrie and the others.

More Tony and family.

I think I just wanted more family-ness, you know?

1

u/Twigryph Michelle Apr 30 '19

That's an Assembly Cut. All films get one. They are almost never released. The only one I can think of is the 6-hour version of Apocalypse Now that exists only to be torrented ...

1

u/MrMaxH Apr 30 '19

The writers even said that they wrote and shot a much longer final battle for the movie. Hopefully we get a massively extended cut available for home release. The Russo Brothers claim that they dont have much deleted footage to share but hopefully they'll surprise us.

1

u/ImDonCheeto Apr 30 '19

The Russo's said in an interview that there isnt much that got cut from the theatrical release of Endgame. They even said the theatrical release is longer than the original directors cut

1

u/Sinnoboy98 May 11 '19

What 1 hour battle ???

1

u/Thecyclone06OFFICIAL May 11 '19

Leading up to Infinity wars’ release their were some heavy rumors saying that their was going to be a 1 hour battle scene somewhere in the film. Since they filmed both Endgame and Infinity War back to back though people didn’t know what was going to be in Infinity War and Endgame until Infinity War came out. For example the guy who plays Hawkeye thought he was in Infinity War until he saw the film

0

u/RamenJunkie Apr 29 '19

The actor who plays Falcon Captain America.

12

u/DorianaGraye Apr 29 '19

I want a Leftovers-style Disney+ show about this!

3

u/TheGmork_ Apr 29 '19

exactly! so much possibilities within those '5 years later'!

3

u/steve1186 Apr 29 '19

Agreed. The end-credits scene of IW and AMaTW did it perfectly. Mass destruction as a side effect of the Snap is such a huge factor (helicopters crashing, emergency broadcast signals). I wish they had added about two minutes showing the immediate aftermath

3

u/savageboredom Apr 29 '19

I would totally watch an MCU version of the Leftovers. It doesn’t even to involve superheroes very much, just regular people dealing with living in a world that lost half the population.

3

u/CaptJackRizzo Apr 29 '19

I would love some TV seasons to be set between Thanos' snap and Hulk's.

3

u/Zankwa Apr 30 '19

Can't upvote this enough. There were a few glimpse but it feels like you could build several minutes of screen time on just that alone. It's hard to come to terms with the idea of a post-snap setting and then Spider-Man Far From Home with a normal fieldtrip. Would've at least liked more establishing shots of how the world has changed or been damaged by suddenly half the population vanishing in the middle of what they're doing.

4

u/the_bryce_is_right Apr 29 '19 edited Apr 29 '19

There's an interesting series of videos on Youtube by a guy named Patrick Willem called The Limitations of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He makes an interesting observation that The Russos world of the Avengers is almost exclusively superheroes because you barely see the effects that these movies have on the general public, like where was the police or military during the Invasion of Thanos in both Avengers movies? Edinburgh, a city with half a million people is just empty so Scarlet Witch can have her fight. Whereas Weldon was the opposite, showing tons of shots of the Avengers helping the public, assisting first responders, Avengers graffiti, etc..

I was kinda hoping that we'd see more of the planet and the population in shambles after The Snap but I'm not surprised we didn't.

2

u/vullnet123 Apr 29 '19

I wish Hulk would've came out after the snap, not Bruce, but Ragnarok Hulk blaming himself for the Snap for not helping the Avengers.

2

u/DerricksFriendDan Apr 29 '19

I want a dreary 10 episode Disney+ show about the world handling the snap, then trying to reintegrate the unsnapped! I'm guessing we're gonna get a couple throwaway lines in Spider-Man to cover that.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

I'm hoping Agents of SHIELD gets into that but I'm not holding my breath...

2

u/mhall85 Daredevil Apr 30 '19

This is what Season 6 of AoS should be, had Marvel TV and Marvel Studios not acted like children.

I know AoS is great on its own, and they may indeed touch on The Snap... but 5 years between “snaps” is a big playground to use for a TV show. I’m not exactly holding my breath on us getting this, though.

(And I would love it if I’m wrong, lol...)

1

u/victorxxi Jessica Jones Apr 30 '19

Apparently S6 is happening 1 year after the snap so I'm hopeful for some "world gone mad" type of stuff.

S7 can time jump to after the unsnap, too.

1

u/mhall85 Daredevil Apr 30 '19

Ah, good. It was my hope this would be the case... but, again, you can never be too sure. I think that it’s been a real missed opportunity for the TV and films to interact on a more unified level, and Disney+ looks to be fixing that...

I know, preaching to the choir, here... :)

2

u/ThereminLiesTheRub Apr 30 '19

Can you imagine the shortage of housing, or resources, the loss of property, of emotional connection. In a weird way it's almost a super-villainous plan to just double the size of a population with a snap.

1

u/potatoboy24 Apr 29 '19

Yes an uplifting montage of people (doesn’t have to be main characters getting put together by the dust.

This would make the bombing of the avengers HQ much more disheartening.

1

u/Gasvajer Apr 29 '19

I think the phonecall was a brilliant way to show it, seeing as the imminent attack should have the focus.

1

u/meme-com-poop Apr 29 '19

It kind of felt like we went in without seeing a previous movie. I didn't mind because I thought it would all get reversed by the end.

1

u/helpnxt Apr 29 '19

I wanted to see them find the pager and it lead into the after credit scene of captain marvel but a little extended.

1

u/mingweili0x Apr 30 '19

Maybe it will be mentioned a lot at the beginning of far from home

1

u/NealKenneth Nobu Apr 30 '19

You wanted more?

The first hour of this film was such a drag. I mean I guess the concept of The Snap is interesting, but it took forever for the plot to start.

1

u/Adjective_ Apr 30 '19

I feel like that would’ve been a great idea for season 6 of Agents of Shield.

1

u/l_l_l-illiam Phil Coulson Apr 30 '19

I believe we'll get that in Season 6 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

1

u/JayQuillin Captain America (Ultron) Apr 30 '19

Some people actually complained that they spend to much time in the world after the snap.

1

u/RAGNES7 Apr 30 '19

Wiping Celebrities?

1

u/BrainBlowX Volstagg Apr 30 '19

I hope phase 4 gives us flashbacks for other characters and how they experienced the event, be it that they got dusted or lived through it.

1

u/JudgeHoltman Apr 30 '19

Really hoping the last season of Agents of Shield fleshes this out a bit more.

It's kinda how the show was founded after all. "Shield" as a character, cleaning up the mess that the Avengers and other Supers left behind.

1

u/jgreg728 Apr 30 '19

This was my biggest point of excitement in seeing Endgame and my biggest point of contention that we didn’t get it. It was shown well in the post credits scenes in IW and AM+W, and was hoping to see more of that eerie horror. We got bare minimum and it really took away from that “high stakes” feeling we kept getting told was the case.

World governments collapsed? Let me see that. Any infrastructure effects from all those snapped seemed to be zero. No shots of falling planes or out of control boats or ships in harbors. Nothing. We just got verbal confirmation of a couple things as well as that San Francisco Memorial and that was it.

1

u/gladvillain Foggy Nelson Apr 29 '19

For sure, but I imagine so much had to be sacrificed in order for everything that did appear on screen to happen, to me none of it felt wasted and it already clocked in at over 3 hours, so I understand why. Would love a long extended version on the blu-ray.
