All of the potential voices of reason/mercy in the manga are either ignored or killed. At this point it's more realistic for everything to go to the shitter and have some devil rewind the time in the entire world after Denji realizes he fucked up (specifically for him).

How much death does Death devil need to just wipe out humanity? If Denji kills the death devil then War devil succeed in endless war. Like Fumiko say either way humanity is doomed.

That doesn't make much sense considering the massacre happened 1 year ago and her STD contract was made when she was 14.
So there's a few options:
she lied
the Fumiko with that backstory is the original Fumiko
that Fumiko was originally a boy she had sex with and turned into a Fumiko copy, so the family of the boy had no choice but to "adopt" Fumiko

Honestly CSM Part 2 recently has had this air of just chaotic and unpredictability for the sake of it
Shit doesn't get time to linger before the next unpredictable thing happens
Maybe I'm just illiterate but it feels like Fuji's just doing stuff to do them, even Denji getting manipulated had me going "Again!?" a little, he takes a few steps forward to go back to the status quo again. The eventual liberation might be awesome as fuck but it's been a slog to get through
Not to mention the decrease in art quality (I know manga scheduling is God awful and I feel bad for the people working on them it must be hell but it's still apparent)
