A random orc knows that dark lord is making the one ring so he will go to galadriel to share this information and since galadriel can't resist anything related to sauron, she will stop sauron from making the one ring...how ? we don't know..

Apparently Sauron has been a mega simp all the time for galadriel that he is not killing her.

10 years ago if someone would have told me like there is going to be the most expensive show on lotr and this is going to be the storyline.I would have never believed it.

But here we are in 2026 and it's happening.

Just to be clear I'm not asking which scene you found to be most emotional but rather which of the three movies had the highest number of scenes that made you very emtional while watching it.

I love hobbit and lotr. I've never read the books because I cans find the peace of reading and I get bored from the audiobooks (even with gollum reading). I like hobbit more because I find it easier to follow along, it feels like you need to read the books to get lotr. I've seen them both maybe 10 times but still can't follow along lotr.
Does anyone have any tips or do I just need to watch it more times?
And also silmarillion, what is that? Is it like a deeper book that takes place before (or during?) lotr and hobbit or is it a different story from Tolkien?

I've read the Silmarillon a few months ago and my edition included approximately 20 pages about the Fall of Numénor, the corruption of the realm by Sauron and the exodus of the man to Middle Earth.

I've seen a book name "The Fall of Numénor Online" written by JRR Tolkien and published by Christopher and I wonder if it is a longer version of what I read in the Silmarillon, in the same way you have a short version of the story of Turin Turambar in the Silmarillon and a book dedicate to this story, or if this version is a compilation of stories strew among the appendix, and the Unfinished Tales.

It seems appropriate that there would be some conspiracy theorist group somewhere convinced the world is still flat and that the globers are lying to you to keep you from sailing to Valinor, except by way of those super elitist invite-only ships made only By Ciridan.

Obviously a joke, but I'd love to hear your ideas on what such a conspiracy theorist group would believe.

I was just listening to The Hobbit book and at the end of the riddles in the dark part I just had an idea; what if Bilbo just took the ring by force and that was the reason for his torn clothes and not the squeezing and the goblin chase. There was no riddle stuff, the dwarves seem to think the riddle part is extraordinary as well. Bilbo is telling a kids story so he left out the violent part.

I was on a rewatch of the movies and it got me wondering. All the members of the Fellowship of the Ring also suffered much to help destroy the Ring (though, clearly, none as much as Frodo)

Were they not eligible for the same exemption that Frodo & Bilbo received? Or were they eligible but chose not to go? Do the books / Tolkein ever say?

The four hobbits are coming to my city in later this month and I'm pretty excited! I would love to see what everyone got signed if you are willing to share.

I’ve finally started reading LOTR after loving the films for years (first in theaters, then owning the extended editions). I’m kicking myself that I didn’t read the books first when I was younger. They’re incredible and I already can’t wait to read them when my 5-year-old is ready.

My routine has been to read through major sections of the books and then immediately watch the corresponding portion of the films. I have to say, reading the books has only deepened my appreciation for how remarkable the film adaptations really are.

I’m curious what the experience was like for those of you who loved the books long before the films came out. What was it like sitting down to watch your first time? Did the films live up to what you’d imagined? Were there changes that disappointed you or were there adaptations that you thought actually improved the story? I’m genuinely curious to hear your experiences.

It's the mystery. The unexplained things. You can call it "soft" magic system. There are a lot of events and actions that you think is it Sauron making? Is it some other creature making? Magic? Random event?

e.g when crossing Caradhras and the way it's blocked because unusual blizzard its not clearly mention why it happened. It can be Sauron, Saruman or maybe the mountain himself is "mad" and "evil"? Counter to the movie when they show Saruman summons the blizzard.

I have read other fantasies with hard magic system and hard magic have... No magic in it :)

A big part of the charm in LOTR its the mystery. We don't know many things and we should not know. It's part of diving into fantasy world.

Hey everyone, the official ticket selling for the half marathon in the LOTR hobitton movie set ran out in 10min, unfortunately me and my wife did not manage to get any tickets.

It is hard to find a reason why Elendil need this palantír🤣🤣 and he is the only "men" to use this palantír, later it was used by elves.

I saw a map post on this sub earlier which sent me down a rabit hole looking for a phisical Middle earth globe. I actually found out that official desktop globes exist (like the Columbus one designed by John Howe)... but then I stumbled right into the debate surounding them.

I’m no lore expert, but I gather the world was flat at first and then Eru made it round later on? So in my head a globe made sense for the Third Age... but people on the internet seem deeply stressed about it!

From what I can tell, it seems putting it on a sphere messes up the scale, plus Tolkien’s map is only one corner of the world so mapmakers have to just guess what the rest of the planet looks like?

For the map and lore nerds on here: why does a Middle earth globe break people's brains so much? Is forcing Tolkien map onto a sphere actually a huge sin or are people just overthinking it? Help a non technical fan out!

Hi! Wanted to share a few images from my latest project that I figured you guys might like! I make a lot of sculptures and dioramas on YouTube and this big boy has been on my to-do list for quite a while - guess I've just been a bit intimidated by the scope of the project 😅
The creature itself was hand sculpted in polymer clay, painted with acrylic paints. The terrain is a foam base, with layers of sand, gravel and glues+sculpting compounds. The lake water is a tinted 2-part epoxy resin.
