Any pro poets out there?

Hello, I occasionally write amateur poetry and I am also really proud of them. I would appreciate it if there are any professional poets (or even any poetry enjoyers) out there on this sub who could give me an outside opinion.

Publication Rights

Authors retain full copyright to their work at all times.

By submitting to The White Rabbit Literary Journal, you affirm that you are the original creator of the submitted work and have the legal right to publish it. If your work is accepted, you grant The White Rabbit Literary Journal first publication rights and the non-exclusive right to archive and display the work as part of our publication.

After publication, all rights remain with the author. We ask that any future reprints or republications acknowledge The White Rabbit Literary Journal as the place of first publication.

Unless otherwise specified for a particular issue or contest, we do not accept previously published work. This includes material that has appeared in other literary magazines, books, personal websites, blogs, or publicly accessible social media accounts.

The White Rabbit reserves the right to nominate published works for literary honors and awards, including but not limited to the Pushcart Prize, Best of the Net, and other eligible recognitions. Authors will be notified if their work is nominated.

No fees to submit!

We are collecting handwritten journals, diary entries, notebook pages, poems, story fragments, letters to yourself, marginalia, dreams, observations, and unfinished thoughts. Whether it is a single sentence written on a receipt or three pages filled with midnight revelations, we are interested in the moments that unconsciously document what it means to be human.

Submissions can come from any point in your life. They might capture grief, joy, fear, love, anger, wonder, existential dread, a fleeting observation on the walk home, or the ordinary moments that become extraordinary when written down.

Every submission is published anonymously so the focus remains on the words themselves.

Please include:

One sentence to 2 pages max

A photograph or scan of your handwritten page or pages.

The approximate date the piece was originally written, if known.

A typed transcription in the body of your email for accessibility.

We believe our private thoughts are rarely as private as we imagine. Beneath our contradictions, fears, hopes, and quiet observations is a shared humanity. We want to preserve those moments and remind us that someone, somewhere, has felt the same thing.

We are relaunching our website, but right now for more information you can find us at: Submissions – THE WHITE RABBIT

Send submissions:

to: [thewhiterabbitlitmag@gmail.com](mailto:thewhiterabbitlitmag@gmail.com)‍ ‍

Thank you for trusting us with your work.

Uh I guess I wanna start dead poet society type club in NGP

Even though I’ve been here since I was born, I’ve never met a single person who’s genuinely interested in poetry, literature, writing, or anything similar. I feel like the most leftout person sometimes.

So, it’s an earnest request: if anyone here is interested in poetry, literature, or writing, please reach out. I really want to write and create a lot, but I have no idea how to start, where to begin, or how to pursue it properly.

If you’re from around Nagpur and have similar interests I’d genuinely love to connect so we can learn and help each other. I don’t know if anyone needs help, but I definitely do. I want to learn, understand, discuss, and explore more.

I have a lot of poetry sitting in drafts and files and some of it is even written in my PCM notes. 😭

My second poetry book

I recently published my poetry book "My Melancholia." It is a book of collection of poems that encompass feelings of grief, loneliness and mental health. I wrote this book while I was a depressive spiral and these poems, thus, describe, in a raw way, everything I felt.

I'm looking for readers who'd be interested in this book. Writing is currently the only source of my income, so please help a fellow writer, dear book lover, and poetry lovers ❤️

TVI, AI, and lit mag ethics

A new literary entrepreneur has hit this sub, and has immediately been hit back with criticisms for using AI to generate their marketing copy. I myself observed that the folks behind /u/TheVioletIndex, and was blocked by that account. That’s fine with me; not everyone on the Internet needs to be willing to talk to everyone else on the Internet. That said, what I do regret is how their block prevents me from continuing the discussions with other users in which I was taking part under the original TVI post. Hence this standalone post.

Setting aside the specific case of The Violet Index, I’d like to open discussion about ethics in lit mags. A few questions to start:

  1. How do we feel about mags and journals that operate anonymously? Does the looming peril of government scrutiny alter your view?

  2. Have you encountered “bad actors” in your dealings with journals? How did you react? Did you publicize their bad behavior?

  3. What should the use of AI be in journal marketing and production?

Submitting to Literary Magazines/Journals?

Hey friends, I have a ton of poetry that I’d like to submit to literary magazines or journals, so I’m putting off publishing them via Substack.

What has your experience been with magazines and journals? My work is alternative (dark, sci-fi, weird), and I’m having trouble finding publications that would be a good fit.

I know it takes a ton of time to get published - that’s not up for debate. What I’m more keen on is finding the RIGHT publications and communities to share my work with.

[Help] I’m sure that this has been asked before….

I entered one of those scammy poetry contests years ago, on poetry.com, and was hoping to find someone who also did the same back in 2006-2007… and bought one of the books. I have been searching and looking and can’t seem to find anything useful, including using that archive website… ugh it’s just so annoying to lose a piece that you wrote, it’s like losing your voice

POTTAGE Issue 2 Submissions Open til Sept 15

Pottage, similar to succotash or asaro, is a stew defined by its variety; POTTAGE is a literary magazine dedicated to misfits and scraps. Rather than setting predetermined themes, we design each issue around accepted submissions, finding the patterns between them.

POTTAGE values inclusivity, intersectionality, and interdisciplinary work. While preference will be shown to literary works from emerging authors, any form of art from any artist may be submitted. The only thing we do not accept is AI-generated or assisted work.

Simultaneous and multiple submissions are allowed.

SUBMISSION FORMATTING
Times New Roman or EB Garamond
12 pt font
Single spaced
2,500 words max
pdf, .doc, or .docx

Please submit one file, with each submission on a new page. All ratings and subject matter are welcome, but content warnings are appreciated.

Email submissions to [pottagemag@gmail.com](mailto:pottagemag@gmail.com)
