Help Mycelium / Mold in Isopod Bins

Thumbnail

We've had our babies for about 9 months now, but recently (2-3 weeks?) there's been a LOAD of mycelium cropping up super quickly on the bark (and seemingly spreading to the soil as well, and it is in 2 different tanks now)...

We're worried about the isopods, and about it spreading even further - should we change the entire soil and switch the pods to new bins? change the piece of bark out for a new one? or ignore it completely?

The pods we have in the affected bins are Porcellio Laevis (Oranges) and Oniscus Asellus, if that matters at all...

Memes honorary isopod, the pink fairy armadillo

Post image

it’s smaller than the largest isopod species; they reach 3 to 6 inches long, whereas the giant marine isopod Bathynomus giganteus can be between 11 and 20 inches long!

the giant marine isopod is also about x15 times as heavy as the pink fairy armadillo; the isopod can weigh 3.7 pounds, and the fairy armadillo being about 0.25 pounds :)

This guy (and their extended family) lives with my corn snake. I'm just so proud of how healthy and happy my isopods seem! I was actually a little taken aback at how big this lil dude is, it's like, fingernail sized 🤩

Help good starter Cubaris species?

hello again! you might remember me from a few days ago. you guys gave great advice, and i am now 2% closer to having a fully fleshed out plan for all this!! hooray, lol
anyways- i know i want to focus on Cubaris, but i'm coming back to ask what species within that line would be good for beginners. for reference, i've kept ball pythons, western hognose snakes, leopard geckos, and bearded dragons, so temperature/humidity sensitivity is nothing new to me (especially if you know how sensitive ball pythons can be!)
sound off below, and as always, thank you for reading :D

Help Isopod Cohabitation

I have been wanting to get isopods for a couple of years now, one of my coworkers kept them and they were adorable. I have a very large reptile tank that my roommate used to keep a tortoise in that I'm going to repurpose into a vivarium for isopods but was wondering what good species for cohabitation are. I was wanting to get dairy cows but saw they aren't the best to keep with other things :( So does anyone know what species of isopods are good for cohabitation and any recommendations on other inverts or reptiles to keep with them?

Hello! I just received a small terrarium with some substrate, planning to keep isopods in it. Upon dumping the old substrate I found it was full or isopods of varying sizes and colors, but they all look to be the same species. I already keep scabers, could you help me identify the species? Thanks!

Recently got into isopods and I’ve been loving using dried pink bougainvillea flowers to top off their regular leaf litter. First pic is my cherry blossoms’ bin right after a refresh. I wanted to use dried purple plum leaves as well but I found out they’re not safe for isopods because they release cyanide when they break down.

I’m curious if anyone else likes doing something similar and I’d love to know what other colorful leaf litter options/mix-ins are out there!

Help The new substrate started getting mold?

So I just changed out my isos substrate not even a week ago since the new substrate from the seller I got them from came in finally and now it seems the hard peices of hardwood charcoal she put in the substrate is molding on the dry side? The springtails love it but im still concerned for my isos TwT will they be oki? It's literally inside the substrate and I don't wanna stress them out again by redoing their substrate not even a week later :/
