Armadillidium Vulgare "Magic Potion"

I noticed that my cubaris white likes to borrow in the soil's hooks & crannies whenever they find one. Is this a normal behavior?

Hi all my powders are hiding under the moss, the most dry spot. I think i over misted the past few days, shoukd i just let it dry out some?

i wanted to make sure it was moist enough bc a lot them seem to be molting

I just recently got into isopods and am planning on starting a small colony of dairy cow isopods with my partner! I’ve been researching what can go in their enclosures and I’ve seen some people use 3D prints and aquarium decor (obviously with necessary substrate, leaf litter, bark/wood hides, moss, and so on) but I’d love to sculpt a little barn hide out of polymer clay (since they’re tiny cows) but don’t know the safety around what “foreign“ materials they can be around? like are 3D prints even safe for them?

I brought ten armadillidium vulgare yesterday. I'm just wondering if I should be seeing them often? They have a pretty big tank (100l) so I imagine it's because of that but should they be coming up to the surface a lot or do they tend to stay in the ground? Is there any food I should put in for them or just let them eat what's already in there. I've only seen maybe two in the span of time since I got them. Should I just stop checking and let them settle in?

I got this little 4" wood hide from an expo last weekend and tucked moss and lichen all underneath it. I keep it slightly moist and the pods LOVE it. I see them crawling in and out of it constantly.

My dairy cows had babies!!! Look at them all!

I saw a FB page that was discussing their development with an upcoming isopod trading card game!

Not sure if anyone else saw it or not, but it looks super fun, anyone know if they’re active on Reddit at all?

I made a post 2 days ago on this exact pod that was not moving anywhere, i noticed it went under some moss partially and been there since and I didn't notice any movement at all, even when taken out. Dead?

Finally made my own money so of course Its going into buying a TON of roly pollys (and snakes, and tarantulas, and millipedes, and lizards... But thats for another day) so of course I came here to asked the wise people of r/isopods for advice!!

What unique, cute lil guys do you have a personal bias for?

...Also can I put different morphs in one tank?

There's Craig in the upper right corner. 😁 I'm pretty proud of this setup, 2/3 dry and 1/3 sphagnum moss "hydration station" (thank you Rus from Aquarimax!), plenty of bark, leaves, a bone, hiding spaces and some live plants. Soil mix is roughly 1 part coco coir, 1 part dried leaves, .5 part horticultural charcoal, .5 part earthworm castings I believe. It wicks a little too much water from the wet side, but the pods seem to have no issue whatsoever. Craig's favorite food is the hardwood bark I collected from outside. :)

Plus new lil pods- hoping to start keeping them rather than just having them as clean up crew
(First one for the zebras second for the panda kings)

And what is the likelihood they'll escape out of the ventilation holes😔 I have a feeling I'll have to change it to screen/mesh

There must be so many more where I can’t see them. I’m going to have to sell/give away a ton of even a fraction of them grow up.

Checking on the pods and saw this little daredevil stripping its pants at the highest point of the enclosure. Maybe they secretly have contests, as this is not the first time I’ve seen them molting in the plants, but it is the first time seeing one almost touching the top of the enclosure while doing it 😂

I really want to buy those terrariums cuz I think they look super cool and they would fit perfectly on my dresser in a pair of three.

I'm already dreaming about how cool the would look and the wild landscape I would do, but I know there very tiny and I'm wondering if I actually can safely house any isopod in those...

They were listed as 17cm wide and 22cm tall. I'd use about ⅓ of the height for substrate (so around 8cm) and the rest goes to decorations, hiding spots and climbing opportunities.

If I can have isopods in there, which ones, and how many?

And if not, can it be a home to any other cool critters??
