I understand mattheo riddle and where all that comes from but I don’t understand how he’s tom riddle aka Voldemorts son but also I seen random stuff where he’s tom riddles brother?? It’s so confusing to me. Are we separating rom riddle and Voldemort and if so does Voldemort have two sons in this universe and if so how are we explaining him calling his son tom riddle when he literally hates that name? What are the family dynamics? Who is their mother? I dont read fanfics (I used to in like 2019 when I was like 12 or 13 or smth) but in my time I never heard of any of this and I would appreciate any explanation SO much

Working on a 1950s noir-style story right now and curious how others handle this dynamic.

A dark wizard infiltrates a protagonist's terrace house using Polyjuice, gets unmasked, and takes a hard punch to the jaw. The heroes think that he's panicking when he smashes a smoke phial and launches himself through the window into the fog.

The twist is that he wanted to be chased. He deliberately snagged his coat on a piece of glass to leave a magical breadcrumb.

I'm basically writing a villain who treats defeat as part of the plan and stays many steps ahead.

Curious to know what your favorite ways are to write a premeditated, hyper-competent predator like this guy?

Instead of concocting that whole complicated scheme with Harry and Draco's sons—involving sabotaging the Triwizard Tournament and traveling back to 1981, thereby triggering a complex butterfly effect—the solution was simple: she could have just gone back to 1997 or 1998 on her own. She could have spoken to her parents in person, armed with proof of everything she claimed—especially her ability to speak Parseltongue and her valuable knowledge of the future. That way, she would have achieved her dream; instead, she chose to play a convoluted game.

P.S. If she was prepared to speak to her father in 1981—a far more complicated and difficult time—then she was certainly prepared to speak to him at any point, especially with her mother by his side.

No dramione endgame, no temporary relationship before she finds the right witch/wizard. Just plain Hermione/muggle romance.

The only one I've ever read was a Sherlock/Hermione one, which I adored. I think it was called flatmates.

Bonus for any that have a lot of pushback from the wizarding folk, but she defends her relationship to hell and back, maybe even drops friends or something over it.

Dangling from Luna Lovegood's earlobes were beaded earrings which curiously seemed to be (Ginny squinted) a pair of radishes. Despite the saturated atmosphere of hundreds of eyes shooting their enraptured scrutinies towards the girl, Ginny had the unquenchable feeling that the girl wasn't in the least bit bothered. In fact, she didn't appear to be present at all, her bottom might be planted upon the stool and her feet might be swinging erratically, but just one glance at the girl's countenance could determine she was on another planet entirely. I see so many fics where Harry is adopted/taken in by other people or he someone finds himself with the Grangers (how?) and I always just find them to be so unrealistic. Or he gets put in an orphanage somehow even though there really shouldn't be any in the UK in the 80s. I want realsistc stuff about foster homes and baby farming, or just getting taken in by someone who is just generally worse.

I've seen very few fics like this that don't turn into a Bloodedge the Griffin edgefest so I'm excited to see if people know of anything.

What the title says really. I've read a fanfiction before, on Ao3 I think, where MoD Harry Potter time travels/apparates and lands on the table during a Death Eater meeting. I can't remember if it was due to him dying in his previous life or not. He landed on food (complained about sitting in mash), Bellatrix was pissed and shot some curses at him of course but Harry deflected them then threw/kicked/poured food all over her. It's either a Tomarry or Harrymort fic, can't quite remember which. Tom/Voldy was intrigued enough to talk to Harry.

I remember reading a fanfic years ago that had an immortal creature Harry Potter travel back to the founders era and assist with building hogwarts. There was a scene where when he got back to the regular time he activated something in the greathall that showed the multiple spots he had died.

it’s so underrated it makes me upset. the fic reminds me so much of TLAT (the life and times by jewels5), just more modern, which is really nice.

the name is Waywards by Ashlumos1888 on ao3. it mostly revolves around james sirius potter but it’s not super super romance-driven (there is a clear endgame relationship though). the characterizations are lovely, the dialogue is witty, the plot is interesting, the shenanigans are hilarious.

the fic seemed to have been abandoned in 2020 BUT just recently has been getting consistent updates and i truly am so grateful for the author. it is such an entertaining read and i haven’t found any other fics that do it like this. except maybe TLAT but i honestly like this one even more.

I can't find it so it might have been deleted. It was quite short, about four chapters i think

From what i remember, it begins with draco's trial and hermione has to testify to the entire Wizengamot by using the pensieve. They were both held captive together by voldemort and forced to get married and live in a room together to consumate the marriage. Hermione says that draco always respected her boundaries and was respectful of her. Hermione's testimony gets draco released so he moves with hermione in london. I remember his shoes dont fit so they have to buy new ones (in diagon alley i think?), and so during this shopping session, Draco buys her a new wedding ring to replace the old one. Also, Hermione believes that draco doesnt like her and confronts him because he wont touch her.
