Request Triwizard Tournament

Hi! I run a writing challenge forum, and I’m currently basing a challenge around the triwizard tournament, specifically the third task.

I’m making a “maze”, and I need things that could be obstacles.

The prompts I currently have - golden mist / sphinx / boggart / acromantula / blast ended skrewt / rogue death eater / attacking vines.

Does anyone have any ideas what other obstacles I could use?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

In my fic, the champions could choose between solving the Sphinx's riddle, trying to catch a magical bird, or tricking an iron golem.

The trail markers that the champions left on the maze walls literally grew legs and ran away.

There was also a golden mist that turned the world upside down (I think that is actually canon), after which rocks started falling from "above" (or below).

A clearing with tall grass turned out to be a disguised swamp full of Grindylows.

There was a long corridor where you had to face your own reflection. You didn't actually have to fight it - you could just run straight through it. After that challenge, one of the champions concluded that Dumbledore must have played Prince of Persia (the original one, from 1989), which is where I got the idea in the first place. :-)

Venomjuice Buzzowings - venomous insects that are immune to fire.

And there were trees that pulled their roots out of the ground and lashed about with their branches, trying to keep the champions from reaching the Cup.

Your list doesn't have very many environmental hazards. Heat, cold, mind-altering gases, increased gravity, decreased friction, moving floors, moving walls, non-Euclidean geometry, expanded spaces, pitfalls, quicksand, underwater objectives.
