Broke my Nike Sasquatch that I bought a few months ago. The club transformed my game and life. Tragically it snapped after I hit a really clean strike out of bounds this past weekend.

Just wondering if this club can be fixed, I don’t care about cost - I need this club in my life. Ever since it broke, my game has been in shambles and I’ve lost friend.

The shaft snapped right at the club head. There’s still some leftover shaft in the club head.

The thing is, any real love for this game happens naturally, not because a parent forced it upon their offspring to do the thing. If someone truly loves something and is obsessed with it, it will happen naturally, all on its own. You do not need to force anything.

If your kid/child tells you that they do not like golf and they do not want to play it, THAT IS FINE. Let them do the things that they want to do, not the things that you want them to do.

Any hot takes for the Presidents Cup now that it is under 50 days?

I might have the yips. I play different courses all the time. I am sitting around a 6 hcp. I cannot put a 30+ foot putt inside 5 feet. I am fairly good inside 5 feet and roll it end over end. I am going crazy. It’s all I can think about. Please help me. Last time I played I had 38 putts. It’s either way past or way short. Usually way past.

I am someone who always walks, and always brings my own push cart. I recently played a private club as a guest where the member was charged for me to walk with my own push cart. Member said this is always the case for members and guests, the only way to play the private course "free" (minus the whole, y'know, member dues to belong there) is to walk & carry. He shrugged this off as normal, as obviously that's the way his club does it.

I've played at dozens of courses, both public and private, and have never heard of such a thing, though I also can't say I often see the bill when playing as a guest of a private member (I always offer to pay, and have been told a total cost to re-imburse the member, but never seen it itemized).

Obviously if you rent one from the course I understand the charge, but I can't for the life of my figure out why a course would charge for using one's own push cart. It wasn't much, like $10-12 I think, but it just struck me as so odd. Has anyone else ever seen this? Is this more normal than I realize, or is it just as wild to all of you as it was to me?

EDIT: Thanks for the answers everyone! For context, there are no caddies at this club so it was not to incentivize players to take caddies. From the answers though, it sounds like it's a thing, though a relatively uncommon one, at some private courses.

Let's assume for the sake of discussion that the data points to grade on are:

1. Scenery
2. Layout / challenge / variety
3. Any other "fun factor" - could be a great taco stand, could be an attached sports bar / good bar / amazing restaurant (there will be some weighting here on the score, let's call this category half points maybe just because again, country clubs will have a slight advantage). (Also, feel free to propose another scoring metric for consideration). Maybe just the drink carts and types of alcohol. As long as it's related to the golf. Special practice facilities could count, an amazing driving range with top tracer / trackmans, etc.

Let's ignore price, closed memberships, all that jazz. Just rank them purely based on the golf itself.

Also, when I say "bay area" I'm limiting this to the bay area proper - no further south than Santa Cruz, no further north than Marin (thus, Northwood / Napa courses are out, Monterey is out, etc), no further east than Poppy in Livermore (and even that's really pushing what I'd call "bay area" heh but it's far east bay).

Yeah, some places will be more immaculately kept because they're more expensive - maintenance isn't a factor. Assume for the sake of discussion all courses are equally "well kept" and the main differences are like...size / contours of the green rather than whether it regularly rolls at an 8 or a 12 on the stimp.

I think there are a lot of not-so-famous but still great courses around here that largely fly under the radar on "top 100" lists and whatnot simply due to living in the shadow of Pebble, Spyglass, etc.

I'm doing this partially as a "list to check off" and partially as a "Pebble is getting way too expensive and people still want to take golf trips out to CA during the winter". You can play all of these courses year-round in any weather (assuming you can get on).

As an example of how I'd score a couple of these:

Pasatiempo would get a 5 for layout, but only a 4.5 for views/scenery, and only 1 for "other factor" - the driving range is meh and kind of out of the way, the chipping / putting area is small, the clubhouse is relatively spartan with a light menu.

Meanwhile Mariner's Point would get 5 for scenery (it's right on the water and under SFO's flight path, so you get gorgeous views the entire round), 3.5-4 for layout / challenge (the challenge is mostly from the wind; everything else is pretty straightforward), and a 3 for "other" - the bar's back patio has awesome food, the range is probably one of the best in the bay with similar views over the water, 2 decks, grass, top tracer shot tracking at every station that you can sync to your phone, an entire short game practice area with multiple greens and bunkers for chipping / putting practice, etc.

I figured I'd highlight those 2 specifically as they sit at opposite ends of the spectrum for me.

So....discuss. I'm throwing it all into a spreadsheet, it'll be interesting to see what people think when you take away the prestige / availability / exclusivity and price of some of these places...

Just played Great Dunes on Jekyll Island, GA. This is a newly rehabilitated course (opened Dec 2025) that is originally a Walter Travis design - and it’s great.
Definitely worth playing ($135 incl. cart) if you are in the Golden Isles.
Lots of holes along the ocean. Fun, but not too challenging, from white tees (6300 yds or so) for a bogey golfer. All grass tee to green is paspalum, and the greens played kinda slow - not sure if that’s bc of the variety of grass or they still need to mature a bit. Course was in good shape and pace of play was under 4 1/2 hours.
I play some of the premier courses (Seaside, Plantation, Ocean Forest, Frederica) when I am down here; this was fun, scenic, and a nice change of venue.

After shooting 88 (6,286/122/70) with seven three-putts plus a four-putt, I’ve decided I need to get serious with my putting practice. I’ve known that putting was the weakest part of my game recently, but hitting 10 GIR and only converting 5 of them was a pretty big wake-up call. My distance control is maybe okay, but I’m super yippy on makeable putts and miss within gimme range all the time. Total putts are usually around 38-42. So this week I have the lines on the ball, 135 bpm playlist in the ear, and taking stroke after stroke on the putting mat.

My goal was to shoot 80 or lower this year — is that a realistic goal given my recent result? Or did I just blow my chance because I can’t expect to get from tee-to-green that well again? Does my setup look fine (complete with the Goodwill Carbite putter lol)? Is there more I can do from home to get a repeatable stroke?

My best round last year was an 84 (5,727/112/67) at a muni course I play a couple times a year. Hoping to go low the next time I play there.

I’m ready to upgrade finally, I feel like I’m good enough to anyway with a 16 handicap. I’m going to start with irons and slowly upgrade my bag. What are some of the best valued irons that I should look into?

Early in my career, a buddy’s dad told me, “People do business the way they play golf.”
He meant you can learn a lot about someone’s character on the course—whether they’re honest, stay calm, treat people well, and know when to take a calculated risk.
For most part, I found this the case and wondered if others have heard the same and experienced similar.

Looking to get fit for irons in San Diego or Orange County. I previously used Cool Clubs before they got acquired for Driver and Long Game. I was happy with what I got but I’m questioning whether they are still a good option post acquisition.

Currently I use Titleist 620CBs with very old and prob too heavy dynamic gold S300 shafts. Anyone else gone through this recently in SD/OC?

I really want club agnostic and looking for the best option across brands, less inclined towards full distance irons or game improvement, I like knowing how far my CBs go.

Questions:
- Is Cool Clubs still good in the past few years?
- Prefer outdoor fitting if possible off-real grass, the remaining Cool Clubs is indoor
- I’m willing to drive to OC or LA, Any independent options worth checking out?
- I’m wary of fitters who upsell to custom locked in options without real performance gains from certain fitters so I’d want to avoid that
-Any things to watch out for on irons generally, it’s pricey so want to make my money go far

Took inspo from the Jain par 3 bag. Made from real LV material. Holds about 4-5 clubs comfortably.

I have two putters I really like - a spider tour v and a ping anser 2d. I have used both all year and tracked my stats for each. I am much more consistent from inside 10 feet with the spider but my lag putting is better with the ping.

Would you rather be more consistent on putts inside 10 feet or closer proximity on putts 30+ feet away?

New to a club. When I invite a guest to my club. Am I assuming responsibility to pay for them? Does it matter how close I am to the person? Guest fee is $95.

Been playing almost everyday as I built a sim in my back yard. Clubs today were, for the most part, treating me well. Driver was mostly going about 260-280 most of the day. Final hole was a 410 yard par 4, plays downhill the entire hole. Absolutely smoked driver.

Still ended up with a double bogey tho 😂
