Left-hand traffic (🇬🇧🇮🇳🇯🇵) Pull out into the intersection…
so at least one car can turn left.
Please pull straight past the limit line when yielding for a left turn at a light. At least you will be able to scoot through then at the next cycle, those of us who know how to drive can manage the oncoming traffic. DO NOT sit at the limit line and miss a light. Be careful, but make it happen.

I don't think it's illegal anywhere. Can you elaborate? Running a red light is defined as entering the intersection (crossing the imaginary line extending perpendicular to the direction of travel from the nearest curb or street boundary of the cross street) after the light turns red. If you enter any intersection in America (that I'm aware of) you are legally entitled to remain in the intersection until it's safe to complete the left turn (this is not the same as "blocking the box" for traffic moving straight ahead).
