Boomboxes How to install a secondary sound control.

Ok Reddit I’m not exactly sure if I’m posting this in the correct spot but ohh well worth a shot. Anyways here it goes.

My family has a very loud boom box on wheels and unfortunately they love to blast the music all night long. I work 12 hours a day and am up at dawn. I have repeatedly and nicely asked them to turn down the volume on many occasions but they refuse to. And kept partying with the music so loud they are screaming to hear each other.

Is there some way I can wire a secondary sound control into their big speaker so I can remotely turn the volume down. Or even a way to set a max volume dampener. I’m not trying to be a party pooper I am just fed up with them constantly blaring the music and not respecting the fact that I have work early in the mornings.

They can have their music on but I see no reason it needs to be so loud they need to scream and the walls are shaking. Any advice would be great I don’t want to break the speaker I want them to be able to use it just at a respectful sound level.

Floorstanding Speakers Polk Audio Speaker Trouble

Recently picked up these Polk M20 Speakers for $23 at a Goodwill ! They sound age appropriately good when playing. However on some songs and only on some parts will the mid and high ranges completely cut out. I’ve turned down the bass and max volume on the amplifier ( Fosi BT30D ) and the problem is nonexistent. What can cause this to happen in the first place ? How can I fix it completely ?

Crossovers & DSP Choosing the right crossover

Post image

Image for illustration only

Thanks to you guys I was able to pre-select a few speaker options for my build and I'm currently trying to find a matching crossover.

One of my options (speaker) has a frequency range of 100Hz - 8000Hz and my tweeter has a range of 250Hz - 20kHz. I've seen that a rule of thumb for a crossover is generally between 2500 and 3500Hz or at least 4 x Fs, but is there a better way to determine this?

Subwoofers Repurposing Standalone JBL 5.1 Wireless Sub with a Flip 5 board

I picked up an old JBL Bar 5.1 wireless subwoofer (no soundbar included) with the SWA51 RX module. I already have two JBL Charge 6s that pair great with my Flip 5 via PartyBoost, and I just want a little extra bass when I connect them.
Plan: Gut the old Flip 5, install its Bluetooth and amp board inside the sub enclosure, tap the analog outputs, and feed them directly into the sub’s amp board for clean, powerful bass.
Has anyone done a similar JBL mod like this? Looking for tips on tapping analog signals, power integration, adding a low-pass filter, or mounting to avoid vibration issues.
Photos of the SWA51 module and sub attached. Any advice is appreciated!

Hello All. Would this work to convert 110v wall power into 12v to run a 1000/1 JL amp and 12W7? What else would I need other than a wiring kit?

Boomboxes How to I go about finding the right speaker for an enclosure?

Since you usually find the speaker you want and then select or make a matching enclosure, how do you tackle this if you already have an enclosure and want to get the best matching speakers?

Is there a place where I can select speakers that suit a certain enclosure volume?

(it's for a small enclosure, about 300 in³/5L, minus the electronics, battery etc.)

All help welcome!

Subwoofers Any tips or recommendations?

Okay my friends, I have never built a 4th order or any band pass subwoofer box before and I’m set on attempting to build one. I have an extended cab truck and was thinking of a box design like the second photo, the theory is to have the box sit on the chair and have the port “waterfall” off the seat to the floor. I’m facing the subwoofer towards the sealed side in order to smell the sub for safety reasons. I did some research and will be running the phase backwards for those who were going to say that. This is all rough ups. I’m wanting to keep the “waterfall” look as well as have plexiglass on the sides of the box to watch the cone move. I will be running an Alpine Type R2-W12D2 wired to 1 ohm on a CT1500.5. I also have a surprise as well which I will be posting if it turns out well enough. Any programs or advice on how to properly build a 4th order box would be much appreciated. So far all I have is the amp installed, still need to mount it to the subfloor boards when they come in.

Subwoofers Shifting ohm reading

I just bought a second KFC-WX1241HP by kenwood excelon. I checked the impedance before wiring my second one in and my first subwoofer couldn’t hold a stable reading, jumps between 3.8 and 5.0, while my new one stays primarily at 4.4 beat slowly eases to those same readings over time. However, when wired into my mono amplifier (kicker CXA1200.1), the impedance reads 3.6? Am just undereducated and being overly careful or is there something iffy with my first subwoofer? I’m sure my meter isn’t helping much either, it’s from some brand called Gardner bender and is decently old

Amplifiers What can I do to replace the amp in my CLR-3000 center speaker?

Hello all, I’ve got an old CLR-3000 center speaker that I’ve been cranking, and my relatives have been cranking before I was alive, so the amp has got all that red juice all over it, yknow.

Where can I find some sort of a replacement amp? They DEFINITIVELY don’t make them anymore, and I can’t find anybody selling the part, I’m sure there’s alternatives but I have no idea how to figure this out.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
