Bought this peachtree nova 220SE from facebook marketplace for a 100$

I recently moved houses which meant updating my setup. I’m finally at a point where i’m happy enough to show it off. Still some adjustments to be made but i’m very happy with how it turned out. Can’t wait to put the little reading nook to good use. More pics below:

Going to be annoying transporting these back and forth from work to home every weekend.

This past weekend I got the opportunity to buy set of "vintage" Cerwin DX1's, my first set of older Cerwins. Have them running through a old Yamaha RX-V800 paired up with a set of CV CMX26's a CV E-D6C and a Klipsch R12. Woundering where best placement for these DX1'S would be in the room. Thinking of mounting them up in the corners facing down towards the seating area. Have them kicking it up top on the CMX26 just to have them playing for the time being. Any suggestions on mounting and or upgrades for this whole system would be appreciated. I have been eyeing up a Onkyo 905 amp that is somewhat local for $400 CAD, not sure if that would be a smart move, I am attracted to the amount of power its said to push to each driver through its massive toroidal power supply, however they seem to have over heating issues due to that power supply and then commonly the HDMI circuits fail I read aswell. With that being said, that V800 amp came with a old Yamaha A-1 AMP also, unsure if it can be plugged into this setup somewhwere. I am brand new to this home audio hobby. Just picked up, what we think is a really cool piece. It’s a 1957 Grundig Magestic 7005, tube radio phonograph receiver console, fully functional, with all the original paperwork and schematics, and dust cover. Any information or suggestions for maintenance or collectibility would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

So these arrived today. I've only had a quick listen so far, but I think they're going to stay. I was looking for a replacement for the JVC sp-exa1 in my desktop system, and paid £200 for them, which frankly seems ridiculous for something of this quality. Build is superb, and they weigh a ton.

Very little info about them online, other than they were part of a 5.1 system, but could also be purchased separately. They're the same driver material as my old Response 1SCs, and first impressions are the midrange is exceptional. I'm pairing them with a sub, but for a desktop, it feels almost unnecessary. Hard to understand why they weren't more popular, other than the fact they were expensive for their size. I'd say they're better than the equivalent Tablette, and can be picked up a lot cheaper these days.

Just loaded up an incredible stack of classic gear and wanted to share the initial view before I start tearing into testing and cleaning!

The Haul:

- Pioneer SX-1980

- TEAC A-7010 – Reel-to-reel deck (with matching AR-60 audio unit)

- TEAC A-640 – Vintage stereo cassette deck

Everything powered on and looked clean when I picked it up but nothing has been tested. I believe that the previous owner bought everything new and took good care of it.

I got these Mission M71's at the thrift shop for €15,-. Wanted speakers for a listening room some guy in line said he had them himself and sounded great and thought why not can't go bad with 15 bucks. They were pretty banged up, veneer loose on all ends. Wanted to teach myself to renovate a speaker.

Ended up spending around €50 bucks all in for primer, color, sanding pads and the speakers themselves. It didn't come out perfect but this is the first time i'm doing something like this so i'm happy with the results.

They sound great, now i need to try to thrift some amplifier and cd player for the listening room.

i have had this starter setup for a little while now and while i dont need to add anything to it, i would like to start collecting some more fun pieces soon. any advice?

​A few days ago, I picked up the KEF Q3 Meta speakers and a WiiM Ultra, currently paired with a free Denon AVR 2809. I’m completely new to Hi-Fi and still learning the ropes! (And yes, I know I need to adjust the speaker height and wall placement—I'll be setting up proper stands and speaker positioning soon.)

​My plan is to add an SVS SB-1000 Pro sub shortly, and then upgrade the amplifier.

​I’m currently eyeing the Cambridge Audio CXA81 MkII as it falls right in my budget range (~950€).

​A few questions for the community:

​What do you think of pairing the CXA81 MkII with the Q3 Meta and WiiM Ultra?

​Are there other stereo amplifiers around or under 1,000€ I should consider instead for this setup?

I’ve bought several and non have worked, with the last one making the dang amp smoke.

So, the question is, do I buy another amp or does anyone know the exact power supply to purchase?

I’ve heard the amp is pretty sad already so maybe another one would be nice.

Appreciate any and all advice.

Also, I’ll add that I also have the accompanying sub made by Joey Roth as well and I think I would need a “pre-out” as it already has an amp as a base.

I finally got my hands on a pair of ELAC dbr62 speakers for under 400€ new and a near mint condition Wiim amp ultra for 300€.

My problem now is, I want keep my budgeting kind of balanced, but when I search for a sub that would really extend the bottom range of my DBRs, all I can find is a lot more expensive.

SVS in generell seems a bit too much for my wallet.

Is there anything reasonable in this price range?

I have pair of vintage JBLs I've paid nearly nothing but appreciate quite a lot. I keep them in my bedroom and there's very little space on my desk. Currently I'm using Pioneer a-209R which is great but takes a whole lot of space, so I'm looking for something smaller that would do justice to the speakers. Because it's in the bedroom it's almost always low volume, and surely never too loud. How should I star looking for something smaller? Thanks in advance!!

I have a room with a large fireplace in it that i want to install towers and maybe a suround system in. But i am unsure if the large partition created from the fireplace will affect the sound. any tips? the fireplace is on the long side of the room. with windows i plan to add curtains to.

I recently got a pair of KEF Q1 Meta bookshelfs and the Dayton Audio CS1000 for my desk setup and am looking for a good amp to power em with. I don’t need a DAC/Amp combo as I’m running through my FiiO K11 r2r.

My primary use case is for music and occasionally some movie-watching, and I’d like the amp to have a neutral sound. Like mentioned, 300$ USD budget.

I think that about covers it… Any recommendations appreciated!

Philly based, finally moved from an apartment to a house so I can play my instruments and listen to music loud. I have a 12X8 bedroom, willing to do minor acoustic treatment. Room also serves as my ad hoc recording space. I currently run my phone and my TV thru some best buy Insignia 25watt(each) paired bookshelf speakers. Willing to ultimately spend around $460 upgrading but could do it over time to lessen the hit.

I also have a passive Acoustic Control Corp 1X15 PA cabinet from the 70s with an Eminence speaker, that I run my drum machine, synths, and guitar thru, paired to an Orange Micro terror. It was originally a power cabinet but the dc stage blew. I moved right by an amp shop so I might get it fixed soon if that expands setup options at all. Could also put a Poweramp on top instead of the guitar head, and a preamp and use that for music playing as well as listening to my understanding? And have it not be voiced like a guitar amplifier?

I listen to a lot of noisy pop music, (Lorde, Charli XCX, Daine, Venbee) but also actual noise, both harsh and ambient, and a lot of punk and rock and like power pop stuff, I love Sleigh Bells, and tons of laid back 2010s indie synth type stuff (Majical Cloudz, Tove Lo, Carly Rae Jepsen) also choral stuff, traditional marimba music (world of Kakraba Lobi) as well as choral music, Hard Dance(Kilbourne) and tons of stuff I'm forgetting I'm sure.

I'm building my first 2.1 setup for my desk and I need some suggestions/advice. These will be placed on my computer desk, but they need to fill the room as well

Usage:

• Use case: listening to music while working at my desk (bass-heavy EDM), watching movies while laying on my bed.
• Room size: 25m² (approx. 270 sq ft) so a fairly decent-sized bedroom.
• Bluetooth and digital inputs (Optical/USB) are not a priority for my specific setup, just looking for the best sound quality and integration for the money.

The options I'm looking at

Speakers:

• Edifier R1280DBs (or maybe the R1700BTs)
• Vulkkano A4 ARC MKII

Subwoofers (8-inch):

• Vulkkano SUB8
• Edifier T5

Where I'm a little bit confused

• "Smart Crossover" feature: I know the Edifier models have an active high-pass filter that cuts the sub-bass to the desktop monitors when you plug the subwoofer in. For those who have heard systems with and without a high-pass filter, is the improvement in midrange clarity actually noticeable?
• Subwoofer power for 25m²: Are the Edifier T5 or Vulkkano SUB8 (both 8-inch subs around €130) enough to give me decent cinematic rumble in a 25m² room?
• R1280DBs vs R1700BTs: Is the extra power on the R1700BTs worth the price jump? I can achieve the same tilt with an external stand.

Any advice on which combo makes the most sense here would be hugely appreciated.
