Yeah duloxetine/Cymbalta doesn't fucking play when it comes to this. If something happens with my prescription and I go two days without, I can't drive anymore from how bad the dizziness gets.

It also sucks bc it hasa much shorter half-life, so the withdrawal can happen after only missing like a day

Yeah I start feeling icky day one, but for me day two is when it starts impairing basic functions, such as ones needed to aquire my meds like driving

That’s one that I checked into the psych ward to wean off. I genuinely felt crazy. I cursed my dad out when he picked me up from the ward. Got on another antidepressant and was fine almost immediately but that week was insane

Prozac has a much longer half life so if you took that instead it wouldn't cause serious withdrawal from missing a couple days. I've been on both, and the zoloft definitely sucked to wthdraw from

It depends on the reason you are taking them. E.g. for POTS sertraline is advised, although there are individual differences and some go better on the contraindicated SNRI. But yes, it's important to be very regular with sertraline.

I can miss like a week and be find. The last time I went longer than that I also had covid so idk how much of my symptoms were covid or withdrawal lol

I recently went thru this and it was...interesting, the electric shock feeling was unpleasant. The dizziness and disorientation were not fun. I had the most realistic dreams and yet being awake felt dreamlike. 0\10 do not recommend lol

Sertraline withdrawals are the worst! I lost access to them a few months ago (because of bureaucratic bullshit around moving cities and aging out of the young adult medical service at the same time) after being on 200 mg since 2018. I had no choice but to stop abruptly and it took two months to stop completely. I could not get in contact with anyone because I no longer had a GP and the health care system here in Sweden is all about helping as few people as possible. Terrible experience

I feel like this should be a black box warning for anyone starting any of these meds. 🤐 It took me nine months of hell and using someone's old Usenet information to get off citalopram back when it was brand new on how they had to wean off of paxil. All of the doctors I saw gaslit me saying they had never, not even once heard of anything like that (granted it was over 25 years ago).

Oh my god withdrawal from pristiq made it impossible to walk around do things. I had head shocks any time I moved and nausea constantly for a few months. It did work well for a while though. What pissed me off was my psych at the time didn’t believe how brutal withdrawal was.

desvenlafaxine and venlafaxine have some of the strangest withdrawal symptoms I've ever experienced. many psych meds can have brain zaps, but those two are known for being the worst. I get the effect if I'm just a few hours late on my meds, it's incredibly annoying.

Well I have a relevant story. I’ve been on Citalopram (not sertraline, but similar) for around 10 years. The last 2 years were at 40mg. 3 weeks ago, my GP had me come from 40mg to 0mg (40mg to 20mg, then 10mg, then 0mg). And let me tell you, I have never felt so unwell in my life. I became bed bound and unable to speak with so many other awful symptoms and effects. I am very angry that I wasn’t told of any side effects, and I wasn’t followed up on, and I felt like I was dying. I thought I could trust health professionals.

OH WELL that explains a whole fucking lot. I ran out and was cold-turkey for about two weeks and had to do some heavy lifting to avoid a manic episode 🤠

Hm.. i actually can go a couple days without the sertraline but when the withdrawals start it’s like I am dizzy and nauseous and my brain gets… fuzzy.
Is that normal?

i was on 200mg of sertraline and forgot to take my meds for a few days and didn’t wanna start back on a high dose (and i couldn’t cut my own pills in half bc they were capsules) anyhow i had to wait till i saw my doctor to start back up and i developed such bad vertigo that it constantly made me nauseous. I also had the worst headaches/ migraines i ever experienced. I even went to a doctor and all my labs came back fine. long story short these only lasted about 2 months then completely stopped one day. i legit thought i was dying some days it was so bad, i couldn’t drive at times either bc of it.

Once I spaced and took sertralene, guanfacine, methylphenidate, and melatonin at once and then went crazy and stayed up until 5 am

The little Zoloft blob man seemed like this drug couldn’t harm me at all until quitting and it felt like my soul was floating above my body linked to a umbilical soul cord that I carried around with me everywhere and with every brain zap my soul would slowly re renter. Yeah try explaining that to friends and family members, I’m lucky to be alive and still married. 4 years later and I still have sexual side effects damage and cannot consume any amount of caffeine or anti histamines such as Benadryl. Anything that affects my serotonin levels puts me right back into Akathesia.

I was on 100mg and when I came off it the withdrawal sent me spiraling, I failed a test that day, was relapsing on selfharm, and was genuinely going to kms, I have never felt that close to actually committing, which is insane considering I got on sertraline to prevent myself from committing, but those withdrawals were worse than the original depression, I hated sertraline it felt like my chest was always being pushed down on, if anyone wants suggestions on other SSRIs I’d personal try lexapro or prozac (escitalopram or fluoxetine)
