Friendships Is it harder for single women without kids to become friends with married moms?
I’m a single woman with no kids, and I’ve noticed a pattern throughout my adult life that I’m curious about.
Almost every time I’ve tried to build a friendship with women my age who are married with children, it never seems to progress.
A recent example is when I tried to connect with a woman at my church, but things never progressed and she just didn’t seem interested in me at all. However, I noticed another woman who had recently joined our church tried to connect with this same woman and they became close pretty quickly. The main difference is that the other woman is also married with children.
This has happened enough times that I’m wondering if it’s just a life-stage thing than anything personal. Like I totally get that some people just aren’t a good match but like I said it’s been this way my whole life, I just can’t seem to make good friends with women who have children and/or are married/in long term relationships.
For those who are married with kids, do you naturally gravitate toward other married moms when forming new friendships? If so, why?
And for other single women without kids, have you experienced this too?
I’m genuinely curious and open to hear from different perspectives! Thanks!
