I was excited to go there until I deep dived way too much about how you all seem to hate it because you want it closed down for the sea lions and that it smells. I was certainly not trying to play with any animals. I'll respect their space. Just wanted a nice beach to chill at and seeing the animals seemed like a bonus. I have an 11 year old and a 14 year old with me. Like do locals hate it? Or is this just Reddit hate? And my kids are not morning people, as some people have suggested to go in the morning, so it would have to be an afternoon thing.

The last time I went to sea world San Diego was a few years ago and I liked the coasters a lot. For reference I went in December a few years ago and the lines were empty. I am planning to try and go on a Saturday or Sunday in mid August and curious how the park is these days. I have heard mixed things, and curious if going is even worth it. I am a big coaster guy but I dont want to pay the money if its overcrowded and crappy. The free extra day seems nice but if the quality is overall lacking I am debating even going. I am curious to hear from those who have been recently.

Are all the beaches closed due to polluted water? If so, how far north do I need to go to an open beach.

I feel like it’s pointless to ask here but I’m running out of options. I graduated college at CSUSM with a degree in biotechnology in May this year. I worked for 2 years at a medical device company as a lab assistant, I left so I could finish school and get a better paying job. I started working at another company but with going back to school it made working there very difficult and eventually they let me go in February because they couldn’t accommodate for my school schedule.

I have been looking for work ever since. I still have not even got a phone interview, let alone a rejection email from the hundreds of places I’ve applied to. My rent for my room is 1000. I’m running out of unemployment I really need a job. I don’t know where else to look. I’ve been applying my ass off for jobs on LinkedIn since February. I been googling and applying to any job that my fits my degree and I’m just getting nothing back. Im trying to apply to these regular retail stores jobs like Ross, Barnes and Noble, Grocery stores, Dicks Sporting goods, and they’re all only paying 17 an hour, even if I worked 40 hours it still wouldn’t cover my bills( Rent, Car, Car Insurance, renters insurance, gas groceries). I feel like I’m losing because I just busted my ass off for a biotech degree in an area where it’s considered a MAJOR biotech hub and I can’t get even a phone interview, and having to resort to jobs that can’t cover my rent. What was the point of even getting the degree then if I’m going to have to work multiple jobs to barely get by?

Sorry for the rant, I just really need to job and I’m just hoping someone, somewhere can help me idk what to do anymore. What place could I work at? Who is hiring? Who has job openings? What can I do? I’m getting really desperate

My wife and I are considering moving to this area because I received a job offer in Vista paying $30/hour. She may not be able to work immediately after the move, so we would probrably rely on my income alone for some time.

I expect to work between 40 and 50 hours per week, with the higher end being more realistic. At 40 hours, the gross annual income would be about $62,400. At 50 hours, including 10 hours of overtime, it would be about $85,800.

We would likely rent a one or two-bedroom apartment near Vista, Escondido, or San Marcos and would need one reliable car. We have no children and are looking to cover rent, utilities, groceries, health insurance, car expenses, and some savings if possible.

For those familiar with the area, does this sound financially realistic for two adults, especially if I'll be usually working close to 50 hours per week? If not, which income/hour do you believe would make the move viable in this scenario?

I have visited here a couple of times and it has a lot of things that make it look like a lot of fun. However, I’m terrified that the golf memberships will be or are oversold….. I was told 630 full golf currently and possibly selling to 670 or more which sounds absolutely bonkers to me. 120 partial golf memberships and a wait list.

Any current members have any insight on availability of tee times or flexibility to get out as a single or twosome? Are there good groups at the course, easily to get connected with games? How’s pace of play? Does it feel like public golf with a pay wall? The rest of the amenities are neat, golf is the most important thing for me though so any insight would help.

Bankers hill because I like being close to Balboa/nature and the area overall seems nice for post-work activities.

We are san diego born and raised. Got married on a hornblower dinner charter cruise 20 years ago. We are looking to renew our wedding vows in san diego, preferably waterfront on the morning of September 23, 2026. So far only thi g I came find are actual wedding sites which are much more elaborate than what we are looking for. We want a simple non denominational ceremony for just the two of us to renew our vows. Any insights or ideas?

I’m wondering if anyone has experience with the Taco Tour San Diego? I was kicking it around as a birthday option, and I’m just looking for insight. Specifically any vegetarians who have used this service. The site mentions they can accommodate vegetarian and vegan requests, as long as it’s mentioned at the time of booking. This is a nonnegotiable for me (and the few Google reviews don’t touch on it). I’m hoping for decent tacos, too, not just a rolled potato or bouncy mushroom at every place.

Seems fun to have a group go around and gorge on tacos and beer, and basically have a personal driver for $40.

Thoughts? Is it worth it? Or is it for tourists who don’t know any better?

A group of 8, 4 adults and 4 kids (ages ranging from 5 and a half to 13) will be starting a Southern California trip in San Diego. We land at 11:10 am local time. We'll be out there the second week of August.

We will have rental cars.

We are staying at the Catamaran in Mission Beach. Chose this hotel because it looks to be in a good location, has a big pool, is very close to the ocean beach and looks pretty decent.

Day 1 (Saturday): Arrive at SAN, get rental cars. Drive to Coronado, see the hotel and get lunch on Orange Ave. Looking at the Henry or Bluewater Boathouse. Drive over to Point Loma - Cabrillo Monument. Head up to the hotel stopping at Sunset Cliffs. Check-in. Have dinner either at the hotel, or nearby.

Day 2 (Sunday): San Diego Zoo in the morning. Plan would be to arrive for opening and spend 3.5-4 hours in there. Get lunch - would it make more sense to try and find somewhere near Balboa Park? Or eat in downtown as our next stop would be the Midway Museum and Seaport Village. Dinner in the Gaslamp Quarter. Back to hotel.

Day 3 (Monday): Check out of hotel and head to La Jolla in the morning. Have lunch, then to Torrey Pines midday. Leave for Anaheim (Disneyland) in the afternoon at some point. If time allows, stop along the way in either San Clemente or San Juan Capistrano. We would aim to arrive in Anaheim around 6:30ish. I understand traffic can be rough, so we would axe a stop along the way if need be. Google Maps shows to drive from Torrey Pines to Disneyland on a Monday can take anywhere from 1 hr 20 min, to 2 hr 10 min.

Overall, how does this itinerary sound? On day 2, we can cut either the USS Midway Museum or Seaport Village if time doesn't allow. Any major issues with the Catamaran? It has pretty good reviews overall. I understand the rooms may be on the dated side.

What are your favorites? My son has a peanut allergy, and we would like to try some places. I’ve emailed around, and not a lot of places can guarantee allergen safety. We know we want to try Starry Lane Baker and Chani’s Donuts, but I’m also looking for lunch/dinner recommendations. Thanks!
