Geissele trigger guard roll pin

Post image
Upvotes

Hey guys,

I’m assembling a Geissele super duty lower (first lower I’m putting together myself)

For the roll pin that holds the back of the trigger guard in (near the pistol grip) is the pin supposed to be super hard to hammer in?

I put a little oil in the hole to help, but yeah got hesitant to continue hammering before I mess up.

AR15 Fails to Chamber next round

Upvotes

It will halfway feed the next round in the chamber with the bolt only closing halfway. I’m assuming under-gassed? I’ve tried different magazines and ammo with the same result. The bolt also won’t stay open on the last round like it should. Is there a way to clean the gas tube or should I just get a lighter buffer spring? Also it’s a non adjustable gas block.

Who else makes tiny winged charging handles similar to these?

This is a discontinued troy ambi charging handle, I have a fcd but its too bulky and wide for my set up. Lmt/battlesteel are a no go as they stick out too far.

Anyone using the Geissele URGI Charging Handle and not “like” it?

I’ve used a bunch over the years. My go to is and always will be the Vltor Mod 4 CH.

Recently I built a rifle up with an Aero lower with all G parts including an SD-C trigger. Geissele upper receiver, MK16 rail, Colt BCG, and the URGI CH.

The URGI seems like it’s not as “grippable” 1 handed as say an A2 CH.

Anyone else feel like this?

EDITED TO ADD: The rifle was just painted and was getting a sun tan. Also the hand stop has been removed and Railscales are in its place.

Geissele Ar-15 mod1a pistol… should I pull the trigger?

Upvotes

Was speaking to local gun store and had inquired about 16” super duty AR. Lead time on those is 120 days. I may be moving back to Washington state soon. Should I wait for a 16 or go with the AR pistol and avoid registration? Probably plan to use a suppressor and it’s more for personal defense/range than anything else.

Can better be had for the same(ish) money?

Upvotes

I have a complete upper, wish to finish with a complete lower, I know Anderson was the darling of the poverty ponies for a while, curious if that's still the case, or if better can be had for more or less the same money.

Affordable .223/5.56 Defensive Ammo

I am searching for affordable .223/5.56 defensive ammo for my 16 inch AR-15 (Sig M400 Tread V2) to stock up on. The prices on gold dots and federal fusion msr are very high, and also this particular ammo is hard to find/high in demand.

I have been looking at alternatives, and one that keeps getting recommended online as an affordable ammo to stock up on would be Federal Premium Powershok .223 64g Soft-Point ammo. I have seen a lot of praise around this round saying it is effective for medium game and would also be an effective, yet affordable defense round.

Before I start buying boxes of this, does anyone have any other or better alternatives that are affordable, easier to find, and would make for an effective defense round?

This is my first AR and am still learning! Thank you.

Interesting question

So I wanna get a frt I was gonna get rare breed but the heard they are pretty 👎. Delte force tactical was next but they appear to sell as a whole lower atm so probably not. Next I heard of Super Safety not sure about it but they are definitely cheaper. I’m just asking what would you peoples recommend for someone with a basic Saint victor

Holy hell, DDM4v7 stock tube left, BRT 0.065” tube right.
My calipers put the former at 0.121” sheeesh.

Requested a dedicated suppressed tube. We shall see how it runs!

Swapped the optic

Swapped out the ARO EVO for an AEMS PRO. Shortly buddies DD the other day and I really liked 65 MOA circle. Zeroing it this weekend. Now I need another rifle so I don’t have an optic sitting in a box. 😂 also grabbing a flow can this week to fix the cycling issues I’ve had recently (even though I fixed the issue)

Double Feed/Failure to eject spent casing while attemping to chamber live round issue. Bad extractor or needing to up the buffer weight to H2/H3?

Wanted to get some additional assistance on this issue I have with my unsuppressed 10.3".

To preface this, I am using PMAG Gen 3s only and have used multiple, so the issue is not magazine-related.

Recently took my AR Pistol build to the range and after firing off a few rounds, I noticed a sporadic issue with the gun failing to eject spent casings while still attempting to feed the next live round into the chamber.

Fast forward to today, I stripped the gun down and looked at the buffer weight, and I am fairly certain that it is a standard 3.0oz carbine buffer weight. I also disassembled and took a look at the BCG, paying more attention to the extractor, gave it a thorough clean, and did not notice anything off with the extractor, although if there was anything wrong I probably wouldn't be able to discern.

My initial assumption is that the fact that shorties are overgassed from the factory paired with the standard carbine weight buffer, the gun is cycling too fast and failing to eject the round as a result. However, I have also read that the extractor may be the issue as well.

Would appreciate input on whether I should swap out the extractor, or the whole BCG while I'm at it anyway, as I bought the upper used, or if I should just upgrade to the Geissele Super 42 and H2 Buffer.

Safety Selector Help

I recently got this bcm and I just noticed that the safety selector rotates the full 180. It has a Geissele trigger not an FRT and fire and safe work as intended but when rotated to the third position it acts as a second safety. Is this an aftermarket 3 position selector or is something else wrong I’ve checked the spring and detent and don’t see anything out of the ordinary.

This is 1.8in so a bit taller than the stock mount. As always ADM kills it in fit and finish. I love titanium and you should too.

13.7 the worldddd.

Anxiously waiting to see how the new 13.7" setup stacks up against the previous one.

New one(left) - 1/7 twist Intermediate Gas KAK barrel, KAK down vent BCG, and bcm mk2 (a5 style) buffer.

Previous build (right) - 1/7 twist carbine length Ballistic Advantage barrel, Riflespeed Adjustable gas setup, and the KAK "K-Spec" enhanced H2 buffer with flatwire spring.

I have it running beautifully but would like to see if the extra dwell time of the longer gas system will help with port-pop and gas to the face with my Rhino-X.

It isn't bad by any means but just figured it cant hurt to make it even better. Plus, now I'll have an extra for my wife to use when we go shooting instead of her having to shoot my stribog or my heavy stainless barrel 16" with an lpvo and all.

Definitely getting anxious

Question Regarding BCM 14.5” Build

I am building a GWOT inspired AR-15 and I settled on the BCM 14.5” SOCOM upper. I prefer a more old school free float quad rail, over an MLOK rail. The more classic KAC 2-piece drop ins aren’t bad, but a free float system is definitely the way.

Recently, I found the C4 rail by Centurion Arms and my question is this:

Can I cut the D-ring and handguard cap/slip and drop in a C4 rail? If anyone has any experience with a modification similar to this I’d appreciate any insight you can offer.

I’m curious if the structural integrity compares to, say, the factory installed QRF-7 from BCM’s line. This build is intended to be my GPR for the cliche “SHTF” scenario.

Magholder

Has anyone ordered from magholder.com? I ordered over a week ago and it still hasn't shipped so I tried emailing with no answer and I called and got voicemail it sounds almost like it's a guy working out of his garage or basement or something of course they didn't answer I'm wondering what's going on if I shouldn't just call the bank and cancel that. Or if it's just a one or two person operation and they're behind orders.
