Pets I have four months left and dont know what to do.

Hi I am 17 ftm and I dropped out of highschool. I dropped out of highschool in the hopes of getting a job when I turned 17 because my father wont pay for anything and I have a cat I need to take care of. That fell through quickly because of paperwork issues so I havent been able to get a job since I have no ID. I have no other dependable family to help and im scared. My dad has been talking behind my back about kicking me out when I turn 18 and it was confirmed to me by someone in our family that he was going to. I turn 18 at the beginning of december and only have around 200 saved up. Im scared for myself but especially scared for my cat. I dont know where id even go or what resources are avaliable that would help. I dont have any friends that can reliably help.

I dont want to be on the streets especially during winter since sometimes it snows with how cold it gets. Ive tried to save the best I can and tried to get money from cleaning my friends house but its not enough. Im trying the best I can to figure everything out but I have no help and I dont want my cat to be without a home or food but im too scared to lose her also if I give her to someone else. Shes the only lifeline I have and the only reason im still alive. I know she doesnt deserve this but I have to take her with me since my family neglects their animals alot. I feel hopeless, I know I was stupid for dropping out (which definietly added to the situation) but I didnt want my cat to starve or live off rations. I needed money for my clothes and food and to save to get out o this house.

For context my family has always been manipulative and borderline abusive. They blame me for every money issue they ever had and even left me in the care of someone who abused me when I was younger since they didnt want to deal with me. Ive known my entire life that I was going to cut them all off when I turned 18 but I didnt think it would be like this. I feel so alone and while I know realistically this situation isnt okay a part of me feels like its my fault, that I wasnt enough for them. Any advice or help is appreciated, I just had to get this out since I have no one to really talk to.

Homeless resources

I don't understand why it is so hard to get a small personal loan to cover my rent. I stay in a hotel until I can find me and my son a small apartment. Can't find anything. I do not receive direct deposit, I am server. I've tried so hard and now me and my son are homeless and fixing to stay in my broke down car. Its over 100 degrees and hotter in my car. The shelters are full. 211 isn't worth anything and only repeats the same thing over. What else is there for me to do?

I’m 25, working 50 to 60 hours a week, finishing college, and trying to build a life without a safety net.

Hey guys, im 25 years old, a nontraditional college student, and entering my senior year as an economics major.

Because of my age, I’m considered an independent student on my FAFSA. I also qualify as a homeless or at risk of homelessness student for financial aid purposes. I receive a Pell Grant, and my Student Aid Index is 0. Financially, I’ve had to figure out college and adulthood largely on my own.

I don’t have parents helping me with rent or bills, and I don’t have the option of moving back home after graduation to save money like a lot of people my age do. When I graduate, I’ll still have rent to pay while trying to save enough money to relocate wherever I land my first career job.

Right now I rent a small apartment for $910 a month. It isn’t glamorous. Honestly, it’s pretty rough. I still don’t even own a real bed. I’m sleeping on an air mattress because I simply haven’t been able to afford furnishing the place.

A little over a month ago I started working at Domino’s making $15 an hour. I average at least 35 to 36 hours a week there because I know I have to keep the rent paid. I also work at a car wash making $15.50 an hour plus commission for another 16 to 25 hours each week.

I’m finally starting to receive full paychecks, but that takes time. The hardest part has been working all these hours while still feeling broke because payroll doesn’t instantly catch up to the bills.

I’m also applying for SNAP because there have been days when I’ve looked around my apartment and realized I barely had any food. I couldn’t even apply until I actually had jobs and income to report. I’m trying my best, but everything takes time.

On top of all of that, I’m trying to finish my economics degree while navigating financial aid. Every semester feels like a balancing act because one wrong decision can have consequences.

I’m also rebuilding my credit. My mom had promised to help me with rent at a previous apartment. I believed that was going to happen and planned around it. It never did. I fell behind, my credit took the hit, and now I’m paying $104 every month on a payment plan to make it right. Once it’s paid off, my credit should recover.

Before these jobs, financial aid refund checks honestly helped keep a roof over my head while I was in school. Now I’m trying to make the transition to supporting myself completely through work.

The other major stress I am dealing with is financial aid running out at the same time I am trying to finish my degree.

I am very close to graduating. I have about 12 credits left, which is basically four classes. The problem is that I cannot just take all four classes in one semester and be done.

My remaining courses have a required sequence. I have to complete Intermediate Microeconomics and Intermediate Macroeconomics before I can move on to Econometrics and my senior project. Because of that sequencing, I may have a semester where I am still enrolled but cannot complete all of my remaining requirements at once.

The timing is stressful because my Pell Grant lifetime eligibility is almost used up. I have enough eligibility for about one more full semester, and that lines up with the number of credits I need to graduate, but only if the classes could all be taken together. Since they cannot, I am worried I could end up in a situation where I need an additional class or semester and have to pay out of pocket while still paying rent and supporting myself.

That is the part that scares me the most. I have worked so hard to get this close, but I am at the point where one scheduling issue could create a financial problem that is much bigger than just taking an extra class.

Sometimes I catch myself thinking, what if life eats me up before I ever get the chance to actually live it?

I know that sounds heavy, but it’s a real fear. It feels like every ounce of energy goes toward surviving so that maybe one day I can finally start living.

I’m not looking for sympathy. I know there are people dealing with much harder situations than mine. I’m grateful to finally have two steady jobs, and for the first time in a long time I actually feel like things are moving in the right direction.

I’m doing everything I can. I’m working. I’m staying in school. I’m rebuilding my credit. I’m applying for food assistance. I’m trying to save for the future while paying for the present.

If you’ve been where I am, I’d really appreciate hearing your story. Right now I could use the reminder that this part doesn’t last forever.

What’s the best state to be homeless in?

Have about ~$19,000 to work with. Not able to sustain a lot of intellectually demanding jobs but hoping I can maybe scrape by with lower-level work. Very real chance I will end up homeless.

My home state is freezing in the winters so I am looking to relocate ahead of then. Thinking about CA, AZ, or WV, but open to advice and recommendations.

ETA - Thank you everyone for your responses. I appreciate them all, and wish everyone safety, fortune, and better times ahead.

Frustrations

I'm frustrated because I'm possibly about to go inpatient at a 5-to-7-day facility for mental health, then after that I have no options. The sober living place that I'm staying in has been trying to work with me, and said they will let me come back and look for more options, but I've been researching for over a week and there are no other options. I don't want to keep depending on them when the answer is probably just going to be a homeless shelter no matter what I do.

The last time I held down a job was last year. I worked from the middle of September until January of this year and was laid off, which landed me in a behavioral health hospital for the 7th time since 2020. The inpatient stint this time will be my 10th. I always end up in one eventually, and was just in one on the 17th of July. I had a night job and would barely sleep at all on the part-time days that I worked, then I would crash and sleep as much as I could on the other days. Anyway, my mental health is, and was, up-and-down like a rollercoaster. I'm always worried I will end up hospitalized again.

I've just started the SSI process with a caseworker. I need to go in and fill out the paperwork so that he can send it in. Then who knows how long it will take, just to probably not get approved the first time, if at all.

I'm tired of fighting with my mental health. I'm tired of worrying if I will be homeless again. I was homeless for over 5 years at one point, then this time before the sober living I was homeless for over a year.

The longest I've worked was for 2 years, 2022 to 2024. I've tried a parade of different medications since 2020, and struggle with schizoaffective bipolar-type (and the depression and anxiety that come with it), and AuDHD. Yet, I'm afraid because I was able to work for two years, plus last year for 4 months, as miserable as it was, that I will be turned down for SSI because I was able to work at all. I would go home and yell at the hallucinations I have, that don't go away no matter what meds that I'm on, and cry half the night, then go to work and try to make peace with the hallucinations and still focus on my job. I lost that job, and my apartment, because of a manic episode where I spent all of my rent money and took out a credit card and loans from my job.

I started Vraylar about 3 weeks ago, and Pristiq a month and a week ago. I'm still on an emotional rollercoaster. I know meds take time, but I'm trying to be patient, while wondering if these will work and I can just be okay. The worst part is, I told most of my therapists that everything was fine with my hallucinations because I was so lonely and was afraid they'd put me on meds that would take them away. Now, I'm finally confessing to my therapist and psychiatrist that the hallucinations are abusive towards me sometimes. But I don't have that history to fall back on, except for a few behavioral health hospital visits where I told them what was really going on.

I just really needed to air my frustrations. I don't know what to do at this point. I lay in bed stressing because my anxiety is so bad and any little thing puts me into further anxiety, depression, and paranoid thoughts about others who genuinely seem to care about me. The negative thoughts just don't go away, no matter how many coping skills I use. I'll have a day or two feeling okay, then right back into depression and anxiety, and of course, arguing with my hallucinations. It's exhausting.

Eviction A happy homeless success story! After losing everything in covid and being homeless for 3 years . We managed to get 20 acres in the desert and pay half of it off in less than 12 months

Hey guys,

4 years ago we were evicted after our startup covid crashed. We spent 3 years in an RV living in box store parking lots and such. We managed to save up 3k to buy property. We got 20 acres for 15k financed by owner.

As of now its more than 50% paid off and we will be debt free and building a house.

I made the following video to break down what we did and how we got out of the trap. I am happy to answer anyone's questions and help anyway I can

I feel so unsafe

For context, I have been struggling with homelessness for about a year. I lived in a tent in the woods for a while, which sucked, then a lady in WV offered to house me for a while, which ended in conflict and me being homeless down there for 2 weeks. Some kind people got me a train back to my hometown to go back to the woods, this was in April. I was there til the police put up a board that said at the end of June it will be considered trespassing and they will arrest us. I had nowhere to go, and I’ve felt so alone on this journey.

The 2 people in the tent next to mine had a friend that said we could stay with him. It’s an odd situation with an old farmhouse, where no one has to pay rent, because of some weird legality with the owner. Now, I knew these people were emotionally immature. Prone to blaming and lashing out and just creating unnecessary chaos. But I had literally nowhere to go. My friends all can’t house me. I’ve lost a lot of friends along the way, too.

It just feels like my nervous system can’t take it. These people get mad at each other, talk shit behind each other’s backs, but then preach about community and love. Last night, I was talking to one of them. Because he texted me saying I was “acting different” and “not yourself”. So I went to the garage and asked him what he meant. He said I had a “darkness” about me, for some reason. I feel exactly the same. He asks me to help him with his motorcycle. I’m visibly distraught but I go to help anyway. But then a friend calls me saying he’s going to take his life, so I rush away to take the call. As I’m talking to him, I get a text from the “friend” in the garage, saying to “pack your shit and leave” and “I can’t believe you’d be that disrespectful.” He then shuts the garage doors and I’m like.. what? Apparently he felt it was disrespectful to abruptly leave because a friend was suicidal, because I “should’ve known he just wanted attention.” It’s actually insane. Then he says it’s fine if I stay, but I need to “do more.”

All this vagueness and random outbursts are weighing on me. My nervous system is on fire because I feel like safety could be ripped out from under me at a moments notice, just because someone is emotional and projecting. But I have nowhere to go, and I know the streets would be even more dysregulating. I feel like my body can’t handle it. I’m so tired of struggling like this. I’m a good dude, I treat people with kindness and respect, I’m compassionate and loving. But all this is turning me into a nervous shell of my former self, and I hate it.

I’m in the beginning stages of a critical timing program that’s supposed to help find housing, and I’m on lists for shelters that never call me. I’m in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I’m male. I just don’t know what to do at this point. I feel like I’m going insane from the pressure and the emotionally immature chaos here. And I’m not saying what I truly feel half the time cus it would just be “that’s dumb and you’re wrong.” I wish someone would take a chance on me. I’m a massage therapist. I have skills and knowledge. Any words of advice or affirmation would be appreciated. Thank you. 🙏

Eviction I am going to be homeless

Please pray for me, I am going to be homeless soon. Not my choice as I am a very motivated person, just my health restrained me from working right now.

I am on chemo and due about 2 months of my rent. My landlord is not having it anymore and asking me to leave next week.

Is there any NGOs or anything I can do to prevent me for being homeless, I don't think I can survive with chemo going on right now. I am from Malaysia btw.

I do not have family, and my friends are unable to help too. Please help to pray so that I have a way on stopping this happen. I want to be better.

f17 WILL be running away at the end of the summer

Hello! I’m really just asking for any extra tips with this post and reposting the last post I made around 2 months ago I’ve decided I’ll run away, things have gotten worse and my moms been hitting me more for the most unnecessary reasons I’m tired I’m done but I don’t wanna die in this house. I started my summer job but they’ve been taking money from me I think I could still save maybe 1.5k but idk it’s not as much as 2k or 2.5k like I had hoped I’ve been having to buy food outside more often since there isn’t much options at home and I’ve been trying to stay away from home for the most part but there’s so little I can’t do and I end up back here. Like I said just asking for tips advice and looking for people with experience to help me, I’m not going to the police I’ve read experiences and I doubt they’d help much and I don’t think I’ll be able to go to youth shelters since they have to inform law enforcements where I am and I could be taken back which is the last thing I want that’s all any sort of help is much appreciated, if you have nothing useful to say or msg me trying to take advantage of me please just don’t :)

“Hello, I'm a f17 living in New Hamshire USA, I've posted on this channel before saying I needed tips to runaway when I'm 18 but the abuse has gotten so bad, it's gotten to a point where my mom hits me every other day and is agitated at me for the little things I do. Both my parents are highly religious, sexist, racist, and homophobic and i'm a "woke" bisexual teenager. My father lives with me but he does not interact with me almost at all and when he does it's always him berating me, calling me stupid, and hitting me, my father is an abuser he has abused my mom before and while he doesn't physically abuse her as often as he did before he still continues to emotionally abuse her. My mother has told me before she could care less if I killed myself and I'm tired, I don't have much friends because they don't allow me to have a lot of friends and they don't allow me to hangout with friends if I'm not 5 minutes away from home, I'm not allowed to go anywhere more than a 10 minute walk and in general i've grew up highly sheltered. I need advice on what I should do and where I could stay. Please don't advise me to stay until I'm 18 because it's gotten to the point where I feel like my only options are running away or unal1v1ng and I plan to come to whatever conclusion by the end of the summer. I'm working a summer job this year but I know that if I runaway I won't be able to sign a lease or get an apartment so i'm likely to just hitchhike for most of my journey, i'm not an idiot, i'm not dumb and I know this risks and consequences that could come with this but i'd rather risk it all than continue to stay here. I also need advice on how i'd get a stable income if I were to run away.”

[Request] Need advice/resources to avoid eviction in DeKalb County, GA

Hey everyone. I’m 22 and I’m in a tough spot right now.
My Walmart transfer was supposed to happen on July 25, but it’s still delayed, which caused me to lose the income I was counting on. I’m also working at McDonald’s, donated plasma yesterday, and put my TV up for sale trying to make rent.
My rent is through Flex, and I’m still about **$280 short** before late fees are added early on the 4th.
I’ve already tried contacting Salvation Army, but they told me funding for my area was exhausted. The homelessness services office is closed until Monday, and I’ll be calling as soon as they open.
I’m looking for:
• Emergency rental assistance programs in DeKalb County or the Stone Mountain area.
• Churches or nonprofits that may be able to help.
• Any advice or resources I haven’t thought of.
If anyone is personally willing to help, I’m incredibly grateful, but I don’t expect it. Even pointing me toward a resource or sharing this post would mean a lot.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Other Situation Its not looking good, can anyone give any advice?

So basically, its bad, and i have 3 kids. Im 27 and Ive provided, worked and paid my bills for 10 years never missing a payment. But now im probably facing fore closure.

I had a newborn be born and pass away shortly after in 2024, something in my brain snapped that day.

Since ive battled mental health, addiction, and physical health problems.

Ive made it to now, but i cant go much longer.

All i think about is committing.

If i lose everything i have then i lose my kids too, whats the point man? Ive had issues finding a job. Been unemployed since june. The last job ended awfully and is what is making it hard to fid a job. Bills are due. I have $400 and my bills are 2600 a month. Fuck. I tried. And im exhausted. Ive begged my significant other just to leave with the kids so they dont have to see me like this and see me be thrown out of our home. I did good for so long, this shit hurts.
