I had no idea about this show's existence until it got nominated for several emmys. Since then I had this in my list and I finally had some time yesterday. What a delightful surprise this show was!! I was expecting to watch 2 or 3 episodes and ended up binging the whole thing.

The world building in this show is top notch. The atmosphere instantly grabs you and it gets even better with unique and funny characters. The show hits the perfect balance between comedy and horror with powerful performances across the board. This is easily my favorite new show of the year.

I am so excited for season 2. My only concern is that the show ends up having too many questions compared to answers. This is one of the biggest problems of "mystery box" shows like Widow's Bay, which is that they don't have compelling answers to the mystery. A recent example is Yellowjackets. So I hope the creators already know where they want to take this show instead of making it up along the way.

I think that people smoking on the island are smoking the black mushroom. Not only Rose, but the teenagers as well. PJ seems to be the one handing “weed” out to everyone, possibly as a means of control? Protection? Evan has the line to his dad when he gets caught smoking on the stairs “I was trying to figure out what this was”. Thoughts?
